Got the cinderella ( non alcoholic) the drink reminded me much of a mojito but I found it too sour. Thank goodness there was a lot of ice.

I love the snacks the come along too. Cornicks. Popcorn and some Chicharon.

The overall ambience was really good.

The staff service was just soso

Capped my Tuesday night with free cocktails. If you knew me, you'd know this is so not me because I don't drink anymore, much less stay up late on weeknights unless it's work-related. But I've never been here and heard lots of good feedback, so curiosity got the better of me.

There are themed alcoves at the back and we ended up in what appeared to be a sports alcove. It had this small black and white vintage tv which kept on a loop a vintage silent film of 2 women boxing. Think Three Stoogies or Charlie Chaplin. It was mesmerizing, if not for the live band which played some 80's songs and Top 40s. We were tempted to request that the singer sing some songs from Frozen, but I'm not sure if it will fly with the predominantly foreign male audience.

Rochelle D's voucher entitled us to a round of Ning Sling, which is a vodka-based drink with lychee and some fruit juice. We were initially served a free bowl of popcorn and another free bowl of nuts to go with our drinks. Yey for free drinks and free food! When the popcorn was running low, the server took both bowls away and I thought to myself -- there went our free snacks. Soon thereafter, the server came back and gave us a fresh bowl of spicy potato chips and cashew nuts covered with sesame seed. I wondered just how many free bowls of snacks we could get out of this joint. But we eventually dragged ourselves out before midnight because we are now responsible adults who need sleep in order to function in the office the following day.

My go-to place when I want a fun night with live music and excellent crowd. I've celebrated one of my birthdays here and I always get the Ning Sling! ♥️ If you're a Peninsula Club Manila member, you get 15%discount for food and drinks! Great deal, yes? =)

Another good place to hangout with friends. The place is based on the tale of Madame Ning, a celebrated Shanghai socialite and an avid world traveler. This is a place where East definitely meets West.

FYI. The food and alcohol tax will annoy you. :-)

Very relaxing place to spend your saturday night. Great band, relaxing ambience and good drinks. Mix with excellent company, you are in for wonderful evening. Not for the young crowd, but fun nonetheless for us older ones :)

After having dinner at La Girolle, we headed off to Salon de Ning in Manila Pen to meet some friends.

Everytime we go there, we always go valet because finding a parking space on your own in Makati is hardwork (read: tanga sa daan) 128540

Ok, I've to admit, I don't wanna walk far anymore coz I'm assuming either I'll be too drunk or too tired to walk after. 128523

When you go valet, don't forget to have your ticket validated. It gives you a 3-hour free parking. 128522

So anyway, SDN is not your typical club. It has a niche market that enjoys the Madam Ning-inspired objet d' art all over the 4 themed rooms indulging in champagne, wine, or their signature Ning Sling which is a version of Singapore Sling while sashaying on the dance floor... it caters to a more, uhmm, mature crowd. 128513

They have a band and inhouse D.I's to entice you into dancing. Afterwhich, their house dj will spin some disco music. Yes, disco because 3/4 of the entire night, I couldn't relate to the music and the only time i danced was when they played a couple of house and then that's it, bangko ulit ako. 128553 The primary dance move is swing so I was thinking, should I learn swing now? 128513

But don't take my word for it, maybe they have days when they play more upbeat or recent music, maybe it just so happens that we always go when music is 70's-80s -themed or something 128522

The food is good. When we arrived, our friends were halfway drunk and all over the dancefloor so I just ordered me a bottle of red wine and cheese platter and our generous friend ordered for us salpicao and gambas. 128522

The salpicao is very tender and the sauce is delicious, although the flavor didn't quite seep into the meat. The gambas, I didn't touch as I was still full from the dinner. I love their cheese platter. It consists of four cheeses: camembert, manchego, bleu, and goat. It also has some fresh grapes, some nuts with syrup and some other sides. I love pairing cheese with my red wine because the cheese's rich-salty taste balances that of the wine's. 128522

It's a bit more expensive than the other popular clubs but that's because the sophistication and luxury of the bar is on a different level. But it's alright, You get what you pay for anyway 128521. You have to see it to understand. The intricacy of every detail suggests that it was given effort and time to perfect the place for its intended use.

If you're looking for a more rowdy, wild kinda night, this is not the place. But for a few chillout nights with old friends (no pun intended) every now and then, one might enjoy this. 128077

As for me, one to three times a year is enough for this, ehem, youthful soul 128513128514

My sister, bro-in-law and I took our balikbayan cousin and her fiancé out last Friday for some after-dinner drinks and this was our first stop.

I ordered Hendrick's gin and tonic with cucumber. It's a cool and refreshing drink, absolutely perfect for a warm summer night.

So Friday nights are apparently 70's themed, as the live band played ballroom and pop hits from that era. Songs ranged from the Bee Gees' 'Staying Alive' and Donna Summers' 'She Works Hard for the Money' to Randy Crawford's 'One Hello' and Lou Pardini's 'What Might Have Been'. With dance instructors available you could choose between working up a sweat on the dance floor or having a steady night. I chose the latter. Naturally.

This isn't exactly my kind of entertainment. But if it's yours, expect to be surrounded by 40 and 50-somethings, for obvious reasons.

This place was inspired by the tale of Madame Ning, and her travels. You have to go in early to appreciate the art of it and the ambience. And you're not here for the food... this place has only expensive drinks and light food (which is good but i still suggest find dinner some place else). No, you go here to enjoy jazz and art.

I don't have a pic, but I do have a link of my friend singing in this bar. <3

Great place for cocktails in Manila, IMNSHO the best cocktails in town, especially for those among us who like their cocktails classic style.

Pricey but you get what you pay for: absolutely classic and high quality drinks.
Also try out the Champagne Classic and the Pastrami platter.

If you like smoking and relaxing in a less noisy location, move next door to the Hotel Bar and sink in their comfortable leather sofas.
Always nice to lounge there, with the excellent cheese platter and a great Cohiba afterwards.
