Salt is one of the go-to-places in the Poblacion area.  As a Makati dweller,  this got me a lil giddy as the area gained its notoriety from all the girly bars around the area.  I think  it is high time to see Poblacion in a new light - the newest foodie destination.

I've seen a lot of posts about Salt and I've been meaning to swing by.  My first visit was a fail as time is not on our side.  They were undergoing renovations during my visit.

We had lots of time to kill and we decided to swing by Salt for dinner.  If you are not from the area,  it is best to use waze as the location is tucked within a long strip of residential structures.

Albeit the lack of decor,  Salt exudes a quiet charm.  It sort of resembles houses you read in a Charles Dickens novel.

Note:  they play good music,  Crystalized was playing when we came in.

Food.

T-bone Steak (Php 220).  Generous servings of medium rare.  This was served with some java rice and buttered corn on the side. I hate to break it to you...but for a slab of meat cooked medium rare,  this is a tad too tough for my liking.  Saving grace is that they seasoned it well.  Albeit the tough meat,  i think this is still falls under the just okay category because of the price.  I mean,  php 220 for steak -  not bad.

Baked Salmon (380).  When the server placed this on our table,  i got a lil giddy as the beautify slab of salmon reeks of pink and it looks delicious.  The chef murdered that beautiful slab of fish,  it is sacrilege to overcook salmon as you lose all the flavor and moisture.  Dabbing some tartar sauce saved the fish a lil bit.

Dinner at Salt is a lil underwhelming.  I might swing by again to try some of their dishes and take a stab at the baked salmon again.  If you plan to visit,  please lower down your expectations.

In general the food is decent. A lil tweaking and adjustments will make the food even better.

Peace Out!

Reich

Everything about Salt is straightforward & simple, which I like :) nothing fussy... Just in your face, well-cooked meals :) Fairly-priced menu as well :) Parking was indeed a challenge, good thing there were "hawi" boys to assist in finding a good spot nearby 128522128077🏻

We went straight for the meat! T-Bone Steak, Beef Salpicao, Chicken Wings and Onion Rings for our appetizer 12852210084128077🏻 So far, the dishes we got were tasty, juicy and flavorful 12852210084128077🏻 Servings were just right 12852210084128077🏻

Didn't have time to try dessert though 128540128522 Awww 128522but still left Salt with a definitely happy tummy 128522 Till next time 128522128077🏻10084

I’m going crazy here. There are just too many new and hidden restaurants to visit. Every time I check my Facebook or Instagram, I see articles, food shots, and whatnot that make me drool. And I mean droooool. I’m very happy and “hashtag blessed” (ewww) though that I have a handful of close foodie friends to bug when I feel like eating or exploring. For instance, E told me a few weeks ago that he’ll try SALT, a pretty hidden restaurant near the yoga studio I frequent. Since it serves salmon, I got curious. And E was to eat there again and K was game too. Soooo…

Hello, Salt!

The place has very few parking slots so it might be a good choice to just park at Powerplant Mall and walk to the place. It’s parallel Kalayaan so it’s pretty near.

When we arrived, only two other tables were occupied. (I guess there are more people during dinner.) We decided to go for: T-Bone Steak (PHP190), Grilled Tuna (PHP220) and Baked Salmon (PHP320).

Service was pretty quick as I was still digesting the churros I ate from La Lola when the food arrived.

I really have no expectation with the steak given it’s just PHP190 but for its price, it was pretty good. It was slightly on the tough side but the meat was savory. I liked it.

The Baked Salmon was a bit salty. I forgot to tell the server to not go wild with salt. E warned me about it but I was in my sugar happy mode when I ordered. Nonetheless, the salmon was still lovely. It was not dry and the slab served was fresh.

I liked the Grilled Tuna best. Soft, flavorful, delightful! Serving though is good for one if you’re hungry. Or it could be good for two to three if you’re sharing other dishes.

Overall, it was a great lunch! A friend told me to try the Frozen Brazo and I will… hopefully soon.

At Home vibes. The location's hidden. The moment I stepped inside, I didn't feel like I'm in a Restaurant. twas like walking in my own dinning room. The menu was limited but It's delectable. Soft Shell Crab burger's my favorite. Well, Parking was an issue.

Been here 3 times already & I must say, this place keeps me coming back for more. Why? Well aside from the fact that their prices are really affordable compared to other gastro pubs nearby, the food quality is really superb! For those who haven't been to SALT yet, some must try's are their signature T-bone Steak w/ potato salad on the side, Tartufo Ball (choco ice cream truffle w/ cherry inside), Mouth-watering Baked Salmon, Grilled Fresh Tuna Belly w/ special atsara and a generous slice of their famous Brazo de Mercedes (imagine your favorite mango graham ref cake topped with a soft creamy foam of brazo). However, same as normal restos, one may find divergents from the menu. Let's just say I'm not a fan of their new Alavar Burger and Crab Alavar.
Another thing that would make anyone fall in love with this place is their interiors - the cozy wooden tables, the homey vibe which is great for family or friends hanging out, and my favorite was their lighting which made the place camera ready.

One of Makati's hidden gems. Cheap yet surprisingly good. I would recommend the beef salpicao over the t-bone steak.

Hidden at a corner of one of the streets in Makati, you will find a circular signage that says "salt" inviting you over for an affordable, yet, satisfying meal.

I like that it is just a house converted to a restaurant which will give you that homey feeling..

They have this one page menu with main course not more than 10 so everything should be good.

I ordered their T-bone steak for 190 and it was fairly good! Where can you get steaks below 200 these days? Their steak does not belong to those steaks in food courts that floats on gravy on a sizzling plate. Their steaks even had good marbling and are well cooked. The sauce is a plus!

I also read a lot of reviews on their frozen brazo which I did not like, I find it too sweet, they replaced the good custard filling with just a sweet yellow ice cream which was not even smooth.

All in all, I enjoyed my experience and I will definitely go back.

We ordered the t-bone steak. The slice was thin so make sure you tell the waiter to have it medium rare or medium well. Those who usually like their steaks well done should expect the meat to be hard/chewy. It wasn't bad at all for Php190, you get what you paid for. Their peppercorn sauce should've been renamed as cheese sauce-quite misleading. My favorite part of the meal was the dessert! Both frozen brazo and tartufo were excellent. Will definitely go back here128522128077

Ambiance was nice and cozy. The grilled cajun chicken was tender though you can barely taste the spice of the cajun and the skin was a bit burnt. The beef salpicao needs a bit more flavor to it and it was a bit over cooked. The onion rings was good and crunchy but i wish they didnt just use plain mayo for the dip.

My go-to place for that cheap 190 peso t-bone steak! Comes with a small portion of tasty potato salad and rice. They cook it to perfection, the fatty parts taste delectable at every flavorful bite. Meat is fresh and we-ll seasoned.

The streets of Makati Ave. can get sketch most especially at night so I advise you to take a cab or bring your car of you plan on going here, that is, if you don't mind parking your vehicle along the side streets.

They also offer grilled fish if you're not into their meat selections, price range is about 180-250.

Adios! 128111

Love their steak, it's tasty and affordable at the same time. It's what I always order. However, tonight I tried their Grilled Tuna and I must say it was terribly disappointing! The tuna did not look appetizing AT ALL. It was far from what was advertised online. I was given a slab of grilled tuna that looked as if it were just the lower half of the fish. Jollibee's grilled tuna looked better. The taste was average and had a home-cooked feel to it, nothing special. I think the best part about that meal was the vinegar. How I wish I took a photo.

T-Bone steaks, Salpicao and Frozen Brazo de Mercedes! The steaks were okay, nothing really special, it was thin, and had some tough parts, as expected with the price. I didnt like their gravy, it was sweet! Salpicao was more tender than the steaks. The frozen brazo was good128077🏻.

Parking is really a challenge!

A friend of mine recommended this place that serve a good dessert which is the Frozen Brazo de Mercedes. The place is beautiful. It's a house turned into a restaurant. You can choose to stay inside (air conditioned) or for smoking guests, you can stay on the seats outside. However, parking on this place is a bit challenge.

So we had a chance to try this place one night and ordered Salt's T-bone Steak that cost Php 190 and Beef Salpicao that cost Php 220.

The verdict:
The T-bone Steak - i was so disappointed because the presentation looks yummy but when you try to chew it, it took you about 3 mins just to chew an inch-cut of this cheapsteak.
The Beef Salpicao - thankfully this one is great. I like the sauce in it and the beef is chewable and tender.
And of course for our dessert, we ordered their best-seller Brazo de Mercedes that cost Php 110 per slice. I so love it. The creaminess is perfect and i think its more like of a ice cream cake. It made my day though! :-)
The price - very affordable! Prepare Php 300/ head or bring your date with you.

I'll surely comeback here but will not order the T-bone steak anymore. I hope they'll improve this one.

-xoxo
