First family gathering of 2017 and my uncle is no chill. Doesn't want to have our lunch at Palaisdaan as usual. So, the night before our lunch we have no place to go. My Aunt came up with a brilliant suggestion and that is Samkara Restaurant and Hotel. Sounds new to me but looks interesting. Luckily, their Facebook Admin is of top notch! Replied to me at past 11pm, reserved a place for us that's around 40-50 people and we're good to go! Customer service wise, perfect!! 127775

So, Samkara is located along Lucban-Majayjay Road. It's a 3-4 hour drive from Manila heading South. You might miss out the place as their big signage is still not up, but you cannot afford to miss it. It offers that traditional and countryside vibes plus specialty food of carabao meat which makes them a lot interesting.

Surprisingly, despite a late notice we were given a nice place. It's the one they use for special functions. The venue is beautiful. The setup is great, the view is amazing. Their infinity pool is made of stones, and clear water plus a great view of the rice field. The water is cold though as it's very common around this area.

Food wise, they are wonderful. We had a variety of food and they all taste great. As mentioned, their specialty is their carabao meat so we tried their Calderetang Kalabaw (P320) and it taste good. Their meat is really soft and I love their sauce and the fact that they use pickles on their caldereta. Their Pancit Habhab (P225 for large) is a Lucban specialty and I like how they add different toppings to their version. The chorizo really made it a little sweeter than its usual taste. Their Caesar Salad (P175) is also tasty, drizzled with bountiful amount of bacon and dressing. Did I say they also have grilled meats and fish. Oh yes they do. Their grilled liempo (P300) has enough serving and is grilled just right. They have a basket of chicken (P270) perfect for kids. It has seven pieces for the little ones. They have so many other food in their menu. From breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Serving size is good for 2-3 person.

Their price is reasonable and for the quality of meal and view you will have plus the cold weather as of the moment, this is highly commendable. So after you take an adventure at the different falls of Laguna, you might want to drop by here as it's not so far from it. Definitely a good find at further South!
