I've gone to this church twice. Both times were side trips while on our way to a hotel for a weekend vacation. I've never been here during mass hours and so I've never seen this place packed. Often, I find the parking lot empty save for 2 to 3 cars.

The entrance of the church when I visited was located at the side. The front was closed, although I'm not sure if it's just temporary or permanent.

The history of this place is so rich and they actually have a documentation of the events which occurred in this site.

I think it's always nice to pass by just to pray for a bit and be reminded of how great/grand things can come out of nasty events.

That's it for now. Take care everyone!

After lunch, we stopped by an old church along the way. Bacolor Church or San Guillermo Parish Church was named after the town’s Patron Saint. It was originally constructed by the Augustinian Friars in 1576 but was later destroyed due to an earthquake on 1645. On September 1995, lahar flow from the slopes of Mt. Pinatubo which erupted in 1991 buried the church at half its height. Inside, the ceiling beams are now made of wood and around the church, one can see evidences of the lahar overflow. There is also a museum inside the church that documents its history

"Sunken Church,Risen People"

Yes it is a sunken Church, but that's incomplete term to describe the church, it must be Sunken Church, Risen People.. The priest said to his first message to his homily...

Sunken, because it sunked way back 1991 during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption... Risen people, because the people didn't lose hope and rise again after the calamity kasabay ng pagsasaayos ulit ng Church...

FYI: the height of the church now is not the same as it's original ...ulo nlng daw yan actually..sobrang taas daw nyan before lumubog dahil sa lahar...

Guys, almost 3 months old plng daw ako nun sabi ni mama nung pumutok yung Mt. Pinatubo..
(when I tried to start my review and I am not sure about some detail about a little history I would share, I run to my mom to have some survey haha)

My first visit here was 5 years ago, nung nag anak ako ng binyag sa second inaanak ko...
(Guys second survey to haha ,kasi I forgot na talaga, since malapit lang bahay ng inaanak ko sa amin, i pay my inaanak's mom a visit.. pasimple lang ako nagtanong sa mama nya kung ilan taon na sya at kung ano pa kunwari ang tinanong ko haha)
That time limited lang time ko sa church since we had to leave agad after baptism kaya hindi ko sya nalibot masyado, kaya kahapon I planned to attend mass here even if may kalayuhan sya ...and because it's the feast of La Naval ..
FYI again: this Church is also known as La Naval obviously because the patron is Birhen La Naval...

I really left as early as I can so I can have chance to tour the whole part before the time slot of mass I'm going to attend,,praise God hindi ako naligaw..very helpful talaga ang kapal ng mukha ko at ang kadaldalan ko minsan...
(I'm good in asking direction hehe, i'm not hesitant bout it... Ano na lang mangyayari sa akin kung puro hiya ako...minsan isip isip din dapat #survival..pairalin ang kapal ng mukha sa tamang pagkakataon haha)
I was really surprised and i'm in my full awe in amazement na parang first time ko lang ulit pumunta..
Ang lawak pala nitong church na'to grabe.. May museum pa... You will also love how wide the parking area is..mamomroblema ka hindi dahil wala kang mapagparkinggan, kundi kung sang banda ka magpapark...
And of course hindi ko mamimiss yung souvenir #prinsesa ng souvenir haha...(that I used to missed on my first time) ... Their souvenir shop is just like a sari sari store style, di ganun karami tinda nila infairness may peanut brittle pa haha.. I just bought a rosary and rosary bracelet...may kamahalan yung tinda...I doubt na nabless talaga yung rosary nung ibenta...for aslong as i know bawal magbenta ng nabless na stuff... You have to buy first before blessing, it's a sin daw selling stuff that are blessed..
Kaya nung may natiyempuhan akong nagpapabless kay father sumabay ako...bait ni father...
Ang namiss kong part is yung candle lighting area..which is one of my favorite part kahit saang church ako pumunta...

The center of the priest message yesterday is related to the end of the world...
" Heaven and Earth will fade away, but my word will never fade away...
and a piece of Mary's word..
"I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your will..anything you will pray to me, will be delivered to heaven....

About the inside part ,
the front part is renovated , it's newly painted with white's so solemn and fascinating to look at... It's so so talaga.. Very modern and clean ...sarap sa mata...
Sa back part at yung ceilings , may kahoy pa, may ceiling fans sa bawat side ng upuan left and right side... Nakakatuwa yung combination...modern and old... They have two projector tv ...

Probably of course, i'll go back here, ako pa ba!!! i would find a way /chance to go back here...
I love it here...another home-sweet-home...
"Home is where your heart is"

Go visit please..

Amazing to hear how this church was able to survive the lahar, and how the people recovered. Truly an inspiring story.

been here once in one of cousin's baptism na ninang nya din ako..she is my 3rd inaanak..
the church was beautiful..this is the church where "santino" is taped..

Santino is the popular drama of abs cbn played by Zaijan Jaranilla.. I'm sure many of you know him.. ang nagpasikat ng pagtawag kay Jesus as "bro"..
