Best for people who are first timet surfers 127940🏼 since they have great surf teachers 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
Also very good hotel ambiance and food service.
They also have big parking space, which I find very fitting since most people that goes here are via land travel and with personal cars :)

How can you not love mornings? 128525128525

Goodmorning, La Union! 127940🏼 We will be staying here at San Juan Resort til Sunday and so far, I'm loving it here!

We arrived here super early, about 3am and so we have to pay extra for P500 for early check in. The room is good, comfy bed, blankets and cool aircon (just what we needed) I just dont like the shower in the bathroom. It's too low and there's no bidet too! 128528 but overall, the location is good. It's just in front of the beach. 128525

Plus... I get to see Luke Landringan! 128514128514128525

We stayed at San Juan Surf Resort over the weekend and it's a great place to stay. We're a group of 8 so we booked the VIP Ocean View Room. It costs us Php 980 per head with breakfast which is a good deal for an aircon loft type room and a hearty breakfast to start our day. Will have a separate review on the breakfast at Coast Call. Conveniently located near the food must try in San Juan and having a school for surfing helped us a lot in both our food and surfing needs. The room is big; loft type like I said. The ground has one queen size bed that can accommodate up to 3 person with a private room having a sofa bed that could fit two people. Second floor has two double mattresses that can accommodate 4 people. Downside is, there is only one bathroom so we have to make a system in taking a bath. Another downside is there's no bidet, no 'tabo' either so it was a struggle and we had to find our own measure for that. The place do not have wifi either. Only one trashcan is available and located only at the CR, so it was pretty inconvenient. Other than that to have a room with such great beach side view is a good place to wake up to every morning! This is a great place to stay in San Juan for big groups, just some minor improvements and it could be one of the best.

The Surfing Capital of the Northern Philippines

Surfing is one of those things I've always wanted to try (bucket list thingy). Tadaaaah! Crossed it off the list.

According to surfphillipines.com. "La Union is the Philippine surf’s best kept secret, with clean waves reaching 8-10ft on a good swell, it is perfect from beginners to advanced surfers. It is located in the north Luzon, roughly 6 hours travel time by public bus.

La Union has good waves 10 months a year from Oct until March. The most consistent waves come from the north swell from October until March, peaking in December and January where the beach becomes a tourist hot spot attracting surfers and tourists from all over the globe."

Expect that i'll keep coming back La Union.128571

Everything is good! Our stay was at their hotel was awesome. They even showed live nba games. Crispy Pata, dinengdeng, sinigang na hipon all were delicious.

Their breakfast is another matter. Bangus is a bit bland. Yung longanisa 2 piraso Lang pero Masarap yung garlic rice :)

But overall stay is superb!

On the 4th week of February, my friends and I had a 2 days trip here in La Union and of course did surfed on the not-so-big waves of La Union at that very moment. 128569

We stayed here in San Juan Surf Resort which was way better than the first resort we went to in terms of room, facility and the resort itself which costs the same. The resort owns by Luke Landrigan. The only problem was the weak signal inside the our room which limits me on playing CoC. Hahahaha The next day we did surfing for an hour. My friends hired an instructor since it was their first time to surf and Meanwhile i just rented a board ( feeling pro ) since I already tried surfing in Baler and Zambales. Based on my experience, Instructor here were better and more detailed. Indeed, it was a great escape from the metro. Definitely would come again.

Stayed here during a business trip (overnight). I wasnt able to enjoy the beach due to tight schedule.
The resort is new and nice. My room was spacious, equipped with a/c, TV, hot & cold shower. However, I wasnt able to sleep well because of their pillows, it was "bouncy & hard" and strained my neck.

No wifi inside the room, only at the lobby & resto. Mobile data signal is also weak.

Breakfast was ok, Filipino set.

Will come back here with friends and try to enjoy their beach & surfing.

Last stop before heading back to Manila. Stayed here since they still have affordable rooms to stay in, 2.5k for 4 for the older room is decent. They have the more modern rooms by the garden which is a short 10 meters away from the restaurant then the beach.

Of course everybody's here for the surfing, hence the name surf camp. it's not exactly the biggest swells you can find but it's good enough for beginners. Be wary of the bruises you'll get from the falls trying to stand on the board. They offer board rentals with lessons from the instructors for a fee depending on the length.

The crowd is more towards foreigners than locals when we stayed there, food is average, and they don't allow outside food in.

Good enough to stay in, far cry from the prices in Kahuna a few resorts down.

It was nice going back and every time I go back they have some improvements. Latest is the opening of their new restaurant and new rooms. And I heard they will be building swimming pool - cool!

I didn't get to try their new room yet because it is for big groups but their service has improved compared to last time. Ambiance of the new restaurant is laid back and cozy. New set of menu is also refreshing they have a lot of choices now. Serving still takes a while but it's delicious. I loved their vegetable sandwich and Grilled chicken sandwich. Although Blue lagoon shake was too sour. I didn't taste the blueberries nor the yoghurt. All pineapple but it was just too sour.
Little bit pricey because you are paying for the place.

Surf wise I love their surf school they are all friendly and bubbly. Always willing to help. If you want to surf, San Juan Surf school's go to guy is Rey. He is warm and good in teaching too! Over-all if you want to just relax but wants comfort of a good hotel this is the place.

We got an awesome room at the first floor: room 17! Actually, we were supposed to stay at a room at the third floor but the girl in the front desk was super kind and moved us to the first floor without us even requesting for it! 128077128077

The room has it's own wifi too! And I think the rooms are newly renovated. The shower has a heater and the bathroom has a bidet (perfect for 128169)

The food was pretty good too. We had late lunch here and we got the Sisig and Laing. Sisig plus Laing can never go wrong! 128513

I like the chill atmosphere and the beach is just right in front. 128077 wish we could've stayed here longer though. Ohhhh and there are other places to eat near the area and there's even Moonleaf across the street 128522

I will definitely stay here again 128513

Last Sunday, my bf and i went for an impromptu, unplanned and spontaneous trip to the North. Our original plan was to hear mass at Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine. After breakfast at Chowking, Manaoag, Pangasinan, weve decided to look for an adventure and explore the place. We wanted to go to Hundred Islands but looking at the map it seems very far. So weve opted to go to La Union instead.

Weve decided to visit this place and San Juan Surf Resort did not disappoint us.

The place is nice. It offers a very nice access and view of the beach. The staff are very accommodating. Though I think their room rates are quite pricey overall, I still recommend this place.

*plus you get to see and meet Luke, the surfer. Nice bod! :) lol!

Back again this time just to wtach the NBA finals Game 4 last friday while having lunch. We tried their salo-salo set good for 4 but it can be shared by I think 5-6pax. I love the crispy pata yum yum yum. The laing was just a little bit different from the normal laing more of ginger. The grilled squid and adobo was also good perfect place to dine while in La Union. And the girls in our group was also kilig na kilig when they saw luke.. Hehe.. :P

This was my 3rd time in San Juan and my 2nd day of "Study break". In preparation for my upcoming physician licensure examination this August, I allotted Mon-Sat study time and Sunday relaxation day where I will travel, explore the Luzon, and appreciate Philippines' beauty to keep me sane for the next 3 months. So instead of food blogs/reviews, I'd probably post travel and places' reviews and I will go online seldom so please forgive me Looloo. 128560128560128560 Nuff of the drama.

When we went here last Sunday (May 18, 2014), it was the end of summer and there were no waves. Thank God for San Juan Surf Resort for their food which filled our tummies but didn't fill our hearts and satisfied our heart's desires. My current FB profile pic (not uploaded) was me with my back looking for waves and was entitled, "Waiting in vain". Yes, we waited in vain for the waves that never actually came. Sadly, we travelled 6 hours from Manila to La Union (we even used TPLEX) to no avail. We just enjoyed the beach, stood up on the board without the waves and practiced paddling. What a corny experience but it was a good decision not to get an instructor (200php) since they won't do anything. Hahaha. We tried to catch our own waves and shared with the 1-hour rental of surf board (200php) so surprisingly, we just paid 200 when we left this place! Hahaha. Good strategy but a bit sad experience. Nonetheless, view and place was still breathtaking.

Go here during ber months because it't boring to drive all the way here just for the beach, San Juan os for surfing deym!!!

Even though we're booked at Sebay surf resort during our second time here, we went here just for their food. It was more classy and well-presented compared to the other resorts. The food quality was just okay although not superb but we liked it.

Also when we first came here at San Juan, we rented boards and instructors at this resort. 400 bucks per hour (200php for instructor and 200php for the board). That is I guess their standard since Baler and Pundaquit charge the same amount. The person at the concierge was kind enough to allow us to place our bags in their counter since we were just there for the day and not overnight. Great! The instructors were kind but not strict with time. They told us it was time already when in fact it was just 40 minutes. I won't subtract a star since I enjoyed the experience as always!

This place is a great surfing spot for beginners! The waves are friendly (mostly in the morning) compared to the exciting waves at Baler.

As far as i can remember, surf board rentals are for P400/hour with instructor and P200/hour w/o instructor.

I found out that this place is bombarded with surfers during the start of the year (less space for long rides!)

Try to check in at The Circle Hostel! ;)
