Why I didn't love it:
1. Service was so freakin bad.
~ maybe cuz may group ng foreigners na pumasok and most of the waiters cared about them more than us. 128530

2. Our grill was crazyy
~ the fire was uncontrollable and almost kept burning our meat.. Sayang naman.
~ we thought maybe the grill inside was dirty so even if the gas was off there was still fire.

3. (Not a prob just wanted to say it) the ambiance doesn't work with the yakiniku feel. I thought I entered the wrong place HAHHA cuz it looked more like an american steakhouse feel :))

What I loved:
1. Variety of the meats with the price! I found it sulit compared to other yakiniku restaurants.

Definitely going back!! Perfect place for friends to eat and hangout!

Most of my highschool barkada was also born on November, so we always celebrate it together and split the bill into 4. Tipid! 128514

Since I picked last year's venue, I left it up to them to decide where to eat. Anna C suggested Sandaya for a change. She mentioned that PNoy frequently dines here too.

We had a hard time ordering meats since not all of us liked the same thing that's why we got their Special Set B 128070 (I think!) and just ordered other dishes. Their sets include some banchan too.

We also got gyoza, miso soup, and bibimbap.

The gyoza was good, but the bibimbap wasn't memorable for me.

Overall the experience was very good, we didn't have any complaints about the food and service. Very sulit, in my opinion. 9786

Limited parking in front of the building though. I had to park in front of Eastwest Bank.

"All Kobe is Wagyu, but not all Wagyu is Kobe"

The most exclusive Wagyu in the world comes from Kobe, Japan long time ago, but then 5 years back matsusaka wagyu or known as black hire pig won best marbling in the wagyu industry. Ohmi wagyu's been leading for the last 2 straight yrs . said to be the best ...more revered than the previous 2.....peg "fit for a king" . People use the terms Kobe and Wagyu beef interchangeably in the U.S. thinking it refers to the same premium imported Japanese beef, when it does not.

We were about to head out and eat at Umu for our (me and Michael Joseph V's) 6th monthsary, but before I was able to leave the house my mom told us to try out someplace new instead. 128522 Apparently I just forgot, but I used to eat at Umu all the time with my family when I was a little girl. When I told this to my boyfriend, he immediately switched on his 3g and used the looloo app to find someplace we could agree on: Japanese cuisine (for me) with yakiniku/meat (for him). Sandaya was the first 5-star option that popped up, and since it was pretty near to where we were (and it had great reviews) we decided to check it out. 128522 I was super wowed by the real-time progression from our car to the actual place on the looloo map, and the boyfriend was ultra-amused at my childish amazement. 128514

Two words: Kobe. Beef. It's on the chef's recommendation list for a reason; buttery soft, melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful, and honestly I ran out of any other adjectives when expletives started replacing them. It's that good! My boyfriend got the first taste and his eyes widened. He immediately started scooping up the medium well pieces of meat onto my empty plate and asked me to try it, eagerly awaiting my reaction. Needless to say, despite the hefty P1,200 price tag for approximately 6 pieces of wonderfully marbled meat per order, we didn't think twice and ordered another serving. 128151 It's actually best eaten without any sauce, as the choicest quality meats usually are. For comparison's sake, we also ordered their P350 Cab Angus Beef Boneless Short Rib. You can really taste the difference from the Kobe in terms of texture, softness, and overall taste. You get what you pay for, in short. 128522

We also ordered their Ishiyaki Bibimbap, which was stone-grilled fried rice (with plenty of meat, egg, and vegetables) for P280. When I saw the flecks of kimchi all over the rice bits I was kind of scared, but upon tasting it, it really isn't spicy at all. In fact, it was pretty yummy especially when I decided to pour the makeshift sauce my boyfriend made out of minced garlic and the available sweet soy sauce. 128522

Service was excellent. Food came out fast, and they were very willing to help you with your requests and quick to refill any empty glasses. They even gave us gum after our meal, to effectively cleanse our palate and ward against the garlicky smell/aftertaste from the condiments. 128522 We're definitely coming back again to try out their other offerings!

Was initially planning on taking my lil dumpling out to Umu for our 6th official month together but decided against it when i found out she had eaten there na, as i wanted me and her to experience something new on our special day.

C/o looloo we ended up in Sandaya and to say that we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement! The place itself had a very homey Japanese feel to it. The service was great, we didnt have to wait for more than 10 minutes for any of our orders.

The food itself was very good, we had two Kobe Sirloin platters(1200php per), their bestselling karubi ribset (350php) and their stone pot mixed fried rice (280php) which was good for 2.

The Kobe beef was real and impeccable. Dont overcook it or mix it with any of the sauces you blend (atleast initially) or you will not appreciate the quality of the meat.

Their Karubi ribset was solid but not mind blowing.

Their Stone pot mixed fried rice was very savory, especially when we mixed ours with the sauce we concocted which was simply sweet soy and garlic.

All in all, i felt like the meal itself was more than suitable to celebrate our special day.

Honest to goodness, delicious yakiniku. I recommend the boneless angus short rib. Seared just right on the yakiniku grill right in front of you , dipped in sweet soya sauce mixed with a sauce that could be a red soy paste, and eaten with some soft, smooth, pillowy japanese rice. It's just simply good.

The way i enjoy my meal is, when it's available, i order the clams steamed in wine and ginger, order a BEER, (to further enhance that great mettalic flavor), a beansprout salad, the shortribs, the rice, plus that piping hot chicken egg soup which has that "chicken soup for the soul" taste and on top of that, a beautiful, puffy, pale, scrambled egg that's been cooked right in the boiling broth and tinged with sesame oil and thinly sliced leeks --> asian food heaven :) simple and so good!
