After my interview stint at Net 25, the next thing I did was to find a place to eat. Visayas Avenue has a stretch of mostly Filipino restaurants. Sangkalan is one of the most common destination.

The place has al fresco, function room and a main dining area with a stage for performances. I was the first customer that day.

I had their best selling Sizzling Squid. It was huge and priced at Php 395. Squid is crucial with timing. Over cook it, gets tough or rubbery. This one got a bit overdone. Maybe from the extra sizzling. There was a lack of taste if not for the sauce that came with it.

The Gising Gising did its part with spicy kicking in. The presence of coconut was also strong. This is a must order for fans of this Bicolano dish.

Sangkalan also has boodle fight!

Having an elevated floor fancies me with this resto-bar. It was cool and frenzy. We ordered a boodle package named "Masskara" last night and it was cool. Btw, the boodle packages are named after the Philippine festivals, check the menu portion in this app for more details. Fancy munching some other mouthful Filipino dishes?? -- no problem, just add-on to your boodle pack -- that'll be cool! We added "Sinigang na Hipon" to our boodle. Imagine a warm soup at midnight? Who would even bother sleeping?!

They also serve beers. Sorry, we didn't ordered liquor because it was a team lunch [dinner] --whichever suits lol! They have live band that plays pop & mellows, also ballad I guess.

If you fancy a hip Filipino-emphasized menu, try Sangkalan!
