Sans Rival is famous in the city. We ordered brazo de mercedes and yema cake paired with a cup of coffee. My friend thinks that the brazo de mercedes she ordered was too sweet, in which I find it to be perfectly fine. 128523

They say that your Dumaguete experience is not complete without trying their silvanas (butter and chocolate flavored. Price range from 170-200 pesos per pack depending on the flavor.

You can never go wrong with desserts. They say128512 four thumbs up and ten 127775 for this dessert place and restaurant. We just ordered desserts here but the ambiance and quality of food is superb! Imagine, you’ll just pay roughly 195-300for a good coffee and a delectable cake whereas here in Manila, you would spend around 400php or higher. Can they branch out here? Ugh. It’s so far away128557128557128557 the frozen brazo here is a taste of heaven on earth🤗 make sure to hoard their famous butter silvanas as well. It costs less too, compared to their stall in Glorietta

We went to the nearby street after having breakfast at Sans Rival Bistro to try the sansrival and silvanas of Dumaguete.

I heard lots of positive reviews and good words about Dumaguete's famous cakes. I should not missed the opportunity to try those nutty and creamy goodness.

Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries is affiliated to Sans Rival Bistro where we had our breakfast. Yes... they offer various kinds of cakes and pastries but they're known for selling sansrival and silvanas. The interior set-up is almost the same with Sans Rival Bistro. Nice tiles and colors. 128521

I got 2 slices of sansrival (butter flavor) for Php30.00 each and 2 flavors of silvanas (butter and chocolate) for Php18.00 each.

Butter Sansrival - 1108811088110881108811088 5/5

Butter Silvanas - 1108811088110881108811088 5/5

"The butter sansrival and silvanas have the same taste. The only difference is the size and the sansrival have nuts. And they're both good. Masarap!"

Chocolate Silvanas - 1108811088110881108811088 5/5
"I can taste a chocolate mousse on my first bite."

You may also get the sansrival as a whole cake for Php325.00 only. And the butter silvanas for Php150.00 (10 pieces) however the other silvanas with chocolate flavor may costs Php180.00 (10 pieces).

No one should leave Dumaguete without trying their famous silvanas and sans rival!
I was already super full but I dragged my friend here so that I can try their desserts. I had a slice of sans rival and brazo de mercedes. Both were delicious!!!!!! It was not too sweet. I like it that the serving is small and cheap so you can try several of what they offer. Ofcourse, bought silvanas, butter and choco flavor for pasalubong 100841008410084

1 word for this dessert: Heavenly. It was so soft, so tasteful! 128525

I'm not a fan of silvanas until I got to taste this. Just incomparable!

Let's us play a word association game.

Batman - Robin
Oliver Queen - Dinah Lance
Puto - Dinuguan
Burger Machine -??? Sansrival

Sans Rival is a Filipino dessert cake made with layers of buttercream,  meringue and cashews.  The name comes from the French phrase with the literal meaning "without rival."    The cake may be decorated,  left plain or garnished with pistachios.  The recipe has its roots from Dacquoise.  A similar,  smaller version of this recipe is called Silvana.

One of the must visit places in Dumaguete is Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries -  the creme dela creme of silvanas and sans rival.  Dumaguete roadtrip isn't complete without eating massive amounts of sugar here.

Silvanas.  The best in the country.  Light,  not overly sweet,  creamy and can be highly addicting.  One isn't enough to satiate your sugar cravings.  The buttercream is fantastic as it leaves a subtle flavor in your palate and leaves you defenseless.  This frozen cookie treat is wicked.  No one in their right mind can resist the genius combination of buttercteam sandwiched between cashew-meringue wafers.

We saved the best for last!

Had our last Dumaguete meal in here. I ordered their Chicken Cacciatore (in photo) while my friend got their Barbecued Pork Ribs. We had a slice of sans rival and a glass of their houseblend iced tea (strawberry and kiwi).

The chicken dish tasted like menudo, and it went well with the pasta. The sand rival was delicious as expected, and the iced tea was on point.

We then bought boxes of silvanas before leaving.

Had the Chicken Cacciatore for dinner and it was delicious! Also ordered the Lava Cake for my birthday and it was sooooo moist and yummy! Not too sweet for a chocolate cake. 128076

Don't forget to hoard a sans rival and silvanas when you're in the area!!!!! 128079🏼128588🏼128150128150128150

Because you'll probably enjoy not just 1, but the whole pack of silvanas, especially the chocolate flavored ones.

Nothing can compare the taste of legit silvanas and sans rival from Dumaguete.

Note: Shelf life is only 6 hours from the time it was out from the freezer so consume it immediately.

Best silvanas in the country, IMHO!!! It has a light buttery taste, and I love how crispy it is! I hate how most others are mostly made of cream; this one is not. I first tried it last year when I was in Dumaguete, and my sister just brought back EIGHT (yes, you read right, EIGHT) boxes this weekend. It's still as good as I remembered!!!! 128525128525128525

LOVE their sylvanas, because really, how could you not?
Also tried their red velvet cake, it was great although a tad to sweet that I wasn't able to finish half of it.

During our choral tour in Dumaguete, I thought of what pasalubong to bring upon my return to Manila. One colleague suggested that I go for Sans Rival's Silvanas. I initially tasted it hours before our flight back to Manila. It had this exquisitely milky and buttery taste which made it indulging. Can't wait to visit it again!!! Hope that someone will bring the Sans Rival brand here in Manila. If Bigby's became a reality here in Manila, why not Sans Rival? :)

Hands-down the best sans rival and silvannas for me. I love the chocolate silvannas more, but the butter variant is good too! I havent tried their meals yet, it's just always the sans rival and silvannas.

The only thing I dont like in here is the service. Very very slow! I mean they have plenty of servers and all but still takes a long time for our orders to be served.

You need to reserve if you're planning to bring them back to Manila.
