Schmidts does their hotdog sandwiches right! Although their sanwiches dont have a big "wow" factor, theyre homey and comforting. I had the seattle dog without the bbq sauce and hot sauce so i think taking these out had an impact on my experience.

My boyfriend and I went to the cart that they had in Maginhawa and were pretty hungry & thirsty at the time. My family and I went here prior to our visit and I could already attest to the goodness that was their hotdogs, so I wanted to take him there.
Once there, we each got a 1 liter iced tea (yes, we can drink that much. I like iced tea and he can just drink a LOT) and one hotdog each. I got the Wagamama as I have an inclination to Japanese flavors while he got a Coney Island Chili Dog once he saw that there were jalapenos.
When we sat down in the crowded area of Maginhawa StrEAT and got our orders a few minutes later, we both dug in that we almost forgot to take a picture of the food before they were scarfed down.
Our general impression of both the hotdogs were good. I already had the Wagamama before and it's worth coming back to. The balance of the Japanese mayo & wasabi slaw worked really well with the hotdog and the curry gave it a surprising but very welcome touch throughout the bite. In the meantime, my boyfriend loved the heartiness of the chili with the sweet spicy kick of the jalapeno that came with each bite. The one liter iced tea was gone quickly that we weren't even sure how it happened -- but that may have just been because we were both really thirsty. Either way, having that option on the menu was heaven sent.
We have gone back to Schmidt's several times after that, as it has become a personal favorite of ours. Even when we say that we'll get a new hotdog, the Wagamama and Coney Island Chili Dog have continued to be our favorites.
Would I recommend it? Hell yes. So drop by here if you want something filling, juicy and meaty with a twist of flavor that makes it just satisfying.
