I'm a sucker for anything with caramel so I got a medium sea salt caramel mocha.

1⃣ I asked for warm; they gave me hot. Umm, when I ask for warm, it means I want it warm, not scalding hot.

2⃣ Why call it sea salt caramel if there isn't any sea salt? Or maybe there was, I didn't taste it, though. Maybe the star fish IS the sea salt? Not sure.

3⃣ It's expensive. P150 for a medium drink but is the equivalent of, I believe, a tall drink at Starbucks.

4⃣ They should clearly segregate the tables for SBC and Kenny Roger's customers. The tables even at the SBC side were occupied by people eating Kenny Rogers food. Now, I like Kenny Rogers, but I don't want to drink coffee with everyone else around me eating lunch. Assuming, of course, there is even a table for me to sit on. (There wasn't.) I ended up taking my coffee to the departure area.

Overall, the mocha was so-so. But would I buy it again? Nope. I'll stick with my staple White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks.

Sea Salt Caramel - CHECK!!!

I finally got to try their Sea Salt Caramel drink yesterday while I waited for my (eventually cancelled) return flight yesterday in CDO's new airport.

And it was excellent!

Mocha whip on top drizzled with salted caramel syrup. I ordered the Large for P165?!? Geez. At this price, it better be a freaking good cup of coffee (errr, mocha).

At first the ignorant(?) drinker in me tried drinking it ala Happy Lemon (not stirring the cream on top and letting the liquid pass through...). Not bad. Then I asked the baristas how to best enjoy and they said stir the whipped cream with caramel in.

I did.

And it was AWESOME. Bear in mind that (1) I love caramel more than chocolate, (2) I also love salted caramel; but I've been generally disappointed by attempts by either cake makers or beverage companies to make one (save for Vanilla Cupcake's coffee walnut salted caramel cupcake). Disclaimer: this drink is not for the haters or just okay likers of caramel or salted caramel. So don't try if you're not a caramel lover.

This delivers that top to mid note of salted caramel, then you'll feel that burst of mocha at the end (sorry I sound like at my job when we talk about prototypes of food & beverages 1285229786128521).

I'd say (minus) -1 for long wait for the beverage and not having the starfish topping but, man, this drink delivered. So I'll bump it to a 5! Also a bit high on the caloric side, presumably.

P.S. I'd say it was Christmas in my mouth or something but I'd be stealing Roegan T's material. Hahaha.

P.P.S. what's with SBC's prices? They're P10-20 more expensive than your Starbucks, CBTL or Figaro but speaking as a Marketing person and consumer, I don't know what their position is in the market. Certainly not more premium than the mentioned coffee shops. So what gives?
