Sebastians!!! I've missed you!

This is the brainchild of Ian Carandang, one most would consider pioneered Filipino artisinal ice cream, with his passion for excellence and quality. Sebastians was one of the first brands... or maybe THE first brand to put a premium on making top grade local ice cream that came in flavors that people used to only dream of.

Had the quad cup combo, 4 flavors in 1 cup, and they were all 'par exellence'. As good as i've always remembered Sebastians to be.
- Milk Chocolate Potato Chip -> does Royce come mind? 128539
- Nutella Cookie Dough -> cookie dough is my favorite ice cream flavor, and to add nutella to it just made it even cooler
- Mangga at Suman -> loved this! Could taste the sweet/sour mango and the cool/creamy coconut rice(?) flavored ice cream
- Champorado - so rich and chocolatey. Just like what champorado is all about. Not compeletely sure but this could have been made with dark tablea chocolate, and was that rice crispies i detected in there too?

They used to be in Alabang and i used to be this happy kid checking out their kiosk near the cinemas to see if there were any new flavors for the week. And, i don't know if by pure coincidence, i remember filling out a suggestion form they gave out asking for new flavor ideas. I placed brazo de mercedes since i wanted to see them re-create that classic favorite in ice cream form. A few weeks later i was overjoyed to see them have it, and it was delicious!!! Sebastians, please come back to Alabang... 128546

I enjoyed their mint ice cream with some brownie bits. The flavor of the mint was strong like how I like it to be. It also had a good balance with the chocolate. The ice cream was pretty rich and flavorful and I also loved the brownie bits as well.

Zsazsa Zaturnnah's Diva Dive Bar has to be the most fabulous popsicle I’ve ever had. This is the latest offering by the artisanal Ice cream shop of Sebastian’s Ice Cream. It has previously served the most unique and unusual flavors in the past. Its been decades since I was emotionally charged in unwrapping an in icy treat. Last time was when I opened my first ever Disney Twister pop (with 3 flavors circa 1990s).

Look at this beauty, neon pink with glitters? Better yet, its strawberry ice cream coated with chocolate. Not only is it nice to look at, it has my favorite flavors rolled into one of the most diva bars befitting for the greatest “Filipina” diva, Zsazsa Zaturnnah.

Sebastian's branch in MOA is located at the corner of a plethora of restaurants. Its located strategically as after we've enjoyed a filling Mother's day lunch, it was easy enough to locate to have our dessert. The dining area is a small nook good enough to fit over 10 people. Our group of 4 shared the space and another family sat on the other table. Its quite hard to have a good conversation without eavesdropping on the other group. Other than that, I would highly recommend everyone to at least try this icy treat before La Nina hits us and feel like a diva under the scorching heat. #henrysinstaxgiveaway

I've never loved an Ice Cream place as much as Sebastian's! I have been here tons of times, tried almost all of their variants and I haven't had one bad apple!

Definitely a must try!

I couldn't forget the look of pure rapture on my friend's face as she recounted her first Sebastian's experience. Let me pull you back from whatever naughty thoughts the last sentence may have elicited, I mean the Sebastian's Cold Comfort, famous for their artisan ice cream. I must have been wearing the same expression as my friend's last September 13 when I finally had a taste of Sebastian's cold treats.

There is nothing much to be said about the interior of the store other than it was small and simple. There were a few table and chairs, which made me wonder if the place doesn't get much attention from the crowd.

Upon checking their freezer, I noticed that they have ice cream flavors that are not commonly offered in the market. Sebastian's offerings don't come cheap. Prices range from 100 to 800 pesos.

Let's begin with Sebastian's take on the three-layered rice cake dessert, Sapin-Sapin. A single scoop is PHP100 but don't worry, the serving is big. As you can see in the picture below, it looks just like the real thing, from the colors down to the latik (the brown-colored residue of coconut milk).

My friend who first told me about this wasn't lying when she said it tasted exactly like the sapin-sapin. It was sticky, a bit chewy, with a hint of ube (purple yam) taste. It was unbelievably good, tasted just as pleasing as it looked.

The Manggang Hilaw With Bagoong (PHP100). You read that right an ice cream with bagoong, just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder you suddenly see this on their menu. How did it taste? Like an effing green mango! It was intensely sour, the kind that will have you salivating at the mere thought of. It's the exact reason why the bagoong worked. The saltiness of the bagoong served as an antithesis to the caustic flavor of the ice cream. It tasted so much like the real green mango, I think it'd be a good alternative for pregnant women who are craving for the said fruit.

The Lechen Flan flavor tasted just like as it promises. This is just a scoop but it’s big and it’s worth PHP100. The flavor is so rich, it sort of suspends the truth that you are actually eating an ice cream.

This has been my first artisan ice cream experience and I gotta say it was nothing short of exceptional. Sebastian's lived up to the raves it had been receiving from people who were able to try their delectable and unique desserts.

If you haven't been to Sebastian's yet, I highly recommend that you make the trip soon. Aside from SM Mall of Asia, Sebastian's has branches at SM North Edsa and West Triangle in Quezon City, and another one at The Podium in Mandaluyong City.

I wanted something sweet and savory so I tasted Snack Attack and Maple Bacon Pancake. I was really hoping the one with bacon would win but I didn't really like it. I ended up with a scoop of Snack Attack, after a few spoons, I found it okay lang. Meh. Not worth being overpriced.

What happened Sebastian's??? I hope it's just a bad choice of flavor tho. Huhu

I have always ordered Butter Pecan. For today, I got Cookie Dough. I think they're both really good. The buttery and milky taste of Butter Pecan and the creamy and chocolatey flavor of Cookie Dough. I guess these two flavors will be my forever choices! 128522
