Spent the weekend at Subic... Turned out to be a staycation due to the strong rains!
Stayed at Segara Suites, inside the Subic Freeport Zone. It's right in front of the bay but at the far corner of the base... It's the sister of Segara Villas- they located side by side separated only by their spa... The Villas are good for families or bigger groups while the Suites are best for couples. The two resorts are connected at the back with a common pool area and restaurant... So get ready for kids playing in the pool! It's a small infinity pool, but maintained well amidst a nice garden...
The place is decorated in a general, yet confused Asian sensibility... Mixing Buddha busts, Catholic crosses, Thai wood carvings, and murals featuring Indian women. A huge contemporary painting hung at the lobby... Hot pink and orange was paired with cream for some of the walls. The place has two floors, with dark corridors that felt creepy to me.
The Asian feel was not carried over to the rooms. The room itself was spacious yet minimal. The bed was really awesome!!!🏻 fluffy yet firm with lots of pillows! they do have the usual amenities- cable tv, ref, room service, nice pool, and complete toiletries... They also have a rain shower, but no tub. Not much to do in the resort, so you really have to hop on a car to go around the base. It's a bit of a hassle actually.
Overnight stay includes breakfast for two and the food was okay at best. Cost of the room was expensive for the facilities. It's also far from everything else in the base- nearest restaurant is a car ride away. With so many choices, I wouldn't recommend it to people planning a quick getaway to Subic...
