Next stop on my mango bingsu chasedown based on's top 10 list brought me here. I've actually been eating here from time to time, its just that I haven't been paying particular attention to their mango bingsu 128517

With all these topnotch bingsu places serving mango bingsu, the only real point of contention is the quality of mangoes used. And i guess to a certain extent how generous they are with the mangoes and the presentation.

I gotta say Seol & Bean passes for me with flying colors and deserves higher than the #8 spot. Just look at that floral arrangement made from mango slices! The mangoes were sweet and came in a generous amount (what's not apparent is the other layer of mangoes BENEATH the ice 128521)

And as a personal bonus... FINALLY, FINALLY got to try the fruit salad bingsu. Its so hard to come in at the right time when all the fruits are available. Parating "sorry ubos na kami sa <insert fruit here> okay lang ba?" But i'd always choose to defer and come back again the following week for a "complete fruit salad experience", naks haha.

And was it worth the repeat visits? Yes! But not to the extent of my waiting/abangers effort. OA ako eh. 128517 Its got pineapple, kiwi, mango, watermelon, kaong jelly(?). Fruit salad inspired talaga and it looks pretty too!

When I was in BGC's The Fort Strip, me and my friend tried the Korean cafe SEOL & BEAN. It feels like Christmas when I enter the Korean cafe with its red and green decor. You will also see the snowman and Christmas tree beside the glass door of Seol and Bean.

The polite staff were very accommodating taking my orders.

We had Injulmi Toast for Php290.00, Matcha Green Tea Bingsu for Php240.00 and Cafe Latte for Php120.00

I consider myself a lover of all things food.  I keep tabs on the new players and new trends.   Every now and then,  something new comes along and instantaneously gains popularity.   One of which is Bingsu.  This didn't come as a surprise,  our fondness for all things Korean - Asian Novelas,  K-Pop,  Lee Min Ho and Kimchi is a dead giveaway.

For those who live under a rock,  Wikipedia can give a lil enlightenment.

Bingsu or bingsoo is a very popular and elaborate snack/dessert in Korea, especially during the summer season. This snack is composed of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, various fruits such as strawberries, kiwifruit, and bananas, small pieces of tteok (rice cake), chewy jelly bits, and cereal flakes. It is often topped with ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Seol & Bean is one the products of the Bingsu trend.  They occupy a space in the Fort Strip.  The place is hard to miss due to bright lights and eye-catching signage.

Place is a lil bigger compared to the competition.  They can probably accommodate more than 20 guests.  I like the fact that they opted to keep it simple with the interior.  No gimmicks,  no tacky wall decor - it's just the food and the experience.

They offer a variety of Bingsu variants

° Red Bean
° Injeolmi

Fruit Infused
° Mango
° Mango Banana
° Mango Cheese
° Strawberry
° Blueberry Cheese
° Fruit Salad

° Oreo
° Cho
° Matcha Green Tea
° Black Sesame

* they also offer pastries,  drinks and some savory dishes.

I wanted to remove my bias and refrain from comparing them to the other bingsu places hence i opted to get the Black Sesame variant.

| Black Sesame Bingsu (Php 210 - Regular)
This is one of the prettiest I've seen so far.  The red bean,  almonds and injeolmi creates a lovely color contrast with the black sesame infused shaved ice.

The shaved ice is infused with milk and black sesame.  I like the fact that they didn't go overboard with the milk,  it has the right level of sweetness.  The black sesame thingy on top adds a nutty flavor and it compliments the sweetness of the ice.  The read bean is the bomb!  Can't help it,  i have an affinity with these babies.

Seol and Bean is one of those places you need to visit if you are looking for something different.   They pass with flying colors with their Black Sesame creation.

Ang TIGAS nung bread :( Bread na nga lang, pumalpak pa. Sana nagGardenia nalang sila. Their Tuna sadwich (P210) was not sulit even if i used a voucher (P150 for 300 worth) Mas marasap pa ako gumawa ng sandwich! It was super homemade that they didn't even toast or grill it. I also had the oreo frappe (P130) okay naman siya pero ang liit ng sizes nila. Magsstarbucks nalang ako for that price. The only thing i liked about this place is that there are no people ( only 2 tables occupied) eh di kasi okay food 128517128514 and there's wifi / outlets

Random meet-up last Friday with Will C.
We decided to try Seol & bean for their melon bingsu.
We ordered melon bingsu, blueberry and cheese bingsu and an injulmi toast (Yes, they spelled it as INJULMI).
First came the melon bingsu, it was plain-looking. After taking some snaps, the BB&C bingsu and injulmi followed. Napa-Wow ako sa presentation nila sa Bb&c bingsu. 128077128077
I first tried the blueberry bingsu and wow, wow sa tamis. Haha they were generous with the blueberries but they were "over" frozen. It was also topped with vanilla icecream and condensed milk which I think made it really sweet. Maybe removing the condensed milk will do the trick.
For the melon bingsu, the melon used was sweet, the taste of the bingsu itself was just right. Not too sweet like the bb&c.
Then the injulmi toast, hmmmm, it was kinda dry for me and it was tough to chew. We did not even finished it.

They have wifi but it was not working. The lady who got our order mistakenly punched 3 bingsus instead of two, good thing i always check receipts.
I wont be coming back anytime soon. I still prefer H & CS. 9996

Not really sure where this place rank among bingsu's at metro but i wasnt thrilled at how my visit here turn out. First impression upon getting inside was the smell of smoke fish at the place but it turns out they have smoke fish pasta on their menu.

What interest me at this place was the melon bingsu since it looks so nice at ig pics but it was just okay.

Blueberry bingsu was much sweeter maybe because of the condense milk used on top of blueberry, but the nice thing bout this is that they use real blueberry, abit frozen lang.

Injulmi 128517 128517128517 was abit too hard to chew.

Well, i guess if your gonna visit here the melon bingsu would be a better choice.

I went Bingsu crazy before the rainy season struck because the heat during the summer season was unbelievable! If there is a Bingsu badge, I’m sure I have one already lol
It was a weekend and it was already late at night but we just can’t seem to sleep. Even with the AC turned on in full blast, somehow it was still hot! I asked hubby if we can still go out to get some Bingsu and good thing he obliged. He told me that he recently discovered a Bingsu place in Fort Strip that’s open even after 12am. We checked it out.

Seol and Bean – located just in front of Café Puccini, very near Puzzles and Early Bird. It was brightly lit outside and the place was huge! They have lots of tables and chairs, corners with TV and a decent menu. They offer more than just Bingsu. They have cakes from Purple Oven, pastries, smoothies, coffee and some mains.

We got the following –

Mango and Cheese Bingsu for 210Php – good news : it has a scoop of ice cream! I thought it was reasonably priced. They use the same aluminum bowl like that in Seol Hwa so the ice didn’t melt as fast. Layers of finely shaved ice with some mango cubes in between - honestly, it was just okay. As you can see from the picture, there weren’t a lot of toppings. The ripe mango cubes were sour and the cheese cubes? Wait, what cheese cubes? They added maybe about 3 pieces of small chunks of cheesecake and some chunks of graham which I suppose were the base of the cheesecake that they used for the “cheese” part of the Bingsu. The mango ice cream used was your usual grocery ice cream – Maybe Nestle, Selecta or Magnolia. It was the first time that we finished all the toppings and we were left with just plain ice with milk.

Cherienne asked for a Banana Chocolate Smoothie which was good. She liked it. She also got a slice of Purple Oven’s Rustic Chocolate Torte which was plated nicely and served in a cold thing but heavy black stone plate.

Ever going back? Nah. My least favorite Bingsu place so far.

I was so glad to have stumbled upon this place at the Fort Strip! They have Melon Bingsu!!! I first tried bingsu in Singapore in 2015, and the flavor was melon. Since then, I have been on a bingsu hunt for the same flavor to no avail until today. 128522128522128522

Two sizes are available. Single P190 and Double P270. Single size has always been perfect for me. Very very few people on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Bingsu was served after about 8mins. The snow ice is super creamy and a bit sweeter than the others I've tried. Not complaining though coz I love melons!

The place is big for a dessert place. I like it. With lots of television sets showing kpop! Al fresco tables are also available.

Bingsu Cafes are starting to invade the metro and I think it will soon be an unbeatable summer dessert 128513128523

Id choose this over ice cream any day. Its just so refreshing to eat shaved ice with milk and fruits. Well its Korea's version of our Halo-Halo I guess, only better because of the super fine shaved ice and fresh fruits 128513128523128077

I really enjoyed their bingsu It made me come back after a few days 128513128522

And I found out that they were selling vouchers at metrodeal for a good deal. I bought 1800 worth of bingsu lol 128514

Full summer heat is now on full blast! 127774 Thanks to bingsu we filipino's now have an additional weapon aside from halo-halo, fruit shakes and ice cream. Starting late last year bingsu have started popping out everywhere. Bingsu is the halo-halo version of korean. I first saw this from my friend who is studying in korean. She always post this cute dessert and always made me crave for some. So happy that it is now readily available here in manila. This razons snow like ice flakes are so good and a great way to fight the summer heat.
Seol and Bean is a bingsu/coffee place in Fort Strip. It is located just behind Cable Car and Cafe Puccini. You could easily see their big black and white signage. The place got the same vibe with Cafe Seolwha. A snowman standee welcoming customers and my pamangkin love taking picture with those standees hehe.
We tried out their blueberry cheese bingsu and injeolmi bingsu. Both tasted great but my siblings preffered the blueberry cheese. The BBCheese got the a delicious sweet sour fruity flavor, while the injeolmi got the almond flavor with chewy mochi cubes. For me I like both of them since both are not too sweet. 128522128076
Overall not bad another new great option for bingsu place.128518128077

Another bingsu place at Fort!

Well, what makes this unique from the other Korean shaved ice cafes is their melon bingsu. 128584 I don't think this flavor is present in the other bingsu places.

P.S. They also have blueberry cheescake bingsu. 128525
