The place is great. The food is so so, service needs improvement. Price is okay.

When it opened, there was so much hype about this restaurant. Food and service were mentioned as well but not in a good way.

Despite the fact that 2 of my friends (who have already tried the restaurant) gave them a negative feedback, we still decided to celebrate my cousin in law's birthday here. And it turned out that the only thing good about the place is the ambiance. Service was not good and the food was just so-so.

Tuna Poke was bland, absolutely tasteless. I asked the staff for some vinegar and salt to add flavor to it. Then there was the pineapple rice which was also disappointing. I mean there's pineapple and spam that I both love. Yet it didn't help the dull state of the dish. Then there was Pad Thai which is more like a pancit canton to me. Hahaha. Coco Shrimps, Calamares and the battered chicken were at least ok. The dessert haupia was also less appealing both in taste and appearance. The fresh fruit salad was more than ok but hey they were just slices of fruits mixed together so it does not really involve seasoning and all. Hahaha.

Even the totem poles, the roof of umbrellas and tree-house setting couldn't help improve the sorry state of the food being served and the lousy service. The funny thing is the eating place is nicknamed by some as Chaka Shaka. Hahaha. And yes, we are definitely not coming back!

Newly opened Hawaiian-inspired restaurant in IT Park, Cebu City (currently on soft opening)

• Ambiance: open-air dining; under the trees; good design, better during daytime; comfy seats; lively music; Hawaiian feels (staff in flowery dress); a little muddy because of the rain

• Value for money: expensive (a cup of plain rice P30, garlic shrimp with lemon P240; fresh fruit shake P70); may be perfect for beer time with the group vs dining; a stick of grilled chicken skin is P30 lang, pulutan

• Food: taste is OK lang, nothing special in the garlic shrimp, not so watermelony watermelon shake; serving size OK; presentation OK lang, I like the wooden serving plate, but the utensils with big handles made from bamboo are not comfy

• Customer service: they greet you, say thank you, help you get a seat; no attention to detail, my table was dark, didn't light the candle on my table; processing my payment took some time

Overall: Go here at daytime for Instagram selfies
