Early dinner with office mates...

We had quite a few dishes. Here goes:
Xiao long bao: my first time. Like
Crispy salt and pepper squid: was good
Spicy fried chicken: ok
Fried rice with chicken chop and egg: good
Fried rice with pork chop and egg: ok

It was early, not too many people were eating at the resto so service was attentive. Good

It was ok, but because there are a lot of choices at Podium, it may be a while before I come back.

It's not even the end of the week, and yet my boyfriend and I were exhausted with work already. That just made us shift into Patay Gutom mode. We were really craving for Taiwanese food. Hence, we decided to go to Shilin (and we ordered A LOT!).128055

11088110881108811088️Xiao Long Bao - of course we had to order this. We just got the 6 pieces since we wanted to order the spicy wontons. Their XLB were still good, but the wrapper for me was thicker than Din Tai Fung's. I liked DTF's better, but my boyfriend liked Shilin's version more.

110881108811088️Spicy Vegetables and Pork Wonton - their version of the spicy wonton was good, as well. It was still not very spicy for me, but the sauce was really yummy. I could taste a blend of chili garlic and some tomatoes on the sauce. As for the wanton, it was kind of dry and bland-tasting if not for the chili sauce.

1108811088110881108811088️Spicy Jellyfish - this is a really great appetizer. This time, the jellyfish was cut into bigger pieces, which we appreciated. The sauce it was soaked in was sweetish and slightly spicy, but perfectly complemented the jellyfish.

11088110881108811088️ Noodles with Spicy Sesame and Peanut Sauce - I almost never go to Shilin without ordering this. This is my favorite dish. Their version has a thicker and more flavorful sauce than DTF's. Minus one star because the noodles were not as al dente as I would've liked.

11088110881108811088️ Crispy Salt and Pepper Chicken with Chili - a very satisfying dish, the spices of the Chicken were amazingly flavorful. I guess this is a slightly healthier version of fhe Salt and Pepper Spareribs. Only thing was some parts of the chicken were dry.

Shilin has always been a place of comfort for us, as the food has always been consistently good and satisfying.

Accompanied my mom, sister and tita for late lunch. I already had lunch and was abstaining from meat because of the Lenten season so I didn't try all of the dishes.

On the table
🔹Xiao Long Bao
🔹Japanese Cucumber - crunchy and it was really sour. Seems like it was soaked in vinegar for a long time
🔹Spinach - garlicky but some pieces were bitter
🔹String Beans w/ Minced Pork - veggies were tasty even if I brushed off the pork. The fam enjoyed this.
🔹Fried Rice w/ Chicken Chop and Egg - the rice was a bit oily and lacked flavor. The fam said even the chicken didn't taste like it used to. When we had it checked, they insisted that it really tasted like that. We requested for salt or pepper or any seasoning and they returned the dish to us w/ more seasoning on top. We told them twice that we wanted the seasoning on the side so we can put as much or as little as we wanted. They didn't listen. Oh well...
🔹Passion Berry Iced Tea

We noticed that the servers weren't as attentive and as smiley as before. Extra effort to call their attention and when we were talking to them, it didn't feel like they were listening. We had to request for utensils 3 times from different people. We noticed also that they changed their uniforms, maybe they changed their staff thus the change in service.

Lunch date with the sister at our fave Xiao long Bao place.

On the table
Xiao Long Bao - still the same great taste but 2 pieces broke easily and the soup spilled over.
Fried Rice w/ Chicken Chop and Egg - huge serving for sharing. It wasn't as yummy as we remembered. Bitin sa flavor.
Japanese Cucumber - palate cleanser but if you don't like spicy food make sure you brush off those red specks. My sister liked this and to think she doesn't eat veggies that much nor enjoys spicy stuff.

I forgot which iced tea we ordered but it wasn't as flowery or tea-ish as the others. They granted our request for tasting samples before we ordered.

This is still our go to place for Xiao Long Bao.

Simple Chinese dishes that can warm you on a rainy night like last night. The beef brisket soup, though supposed to be mild, was still too spicy for me but I'm just like that. Still tasted great. The pork, chorizo and salted egg siew pao took some time to serve but was worth the wait. Will definitely try the other items in their menu.

Xiao Long Bao is the bomb! Officemates have been craving for some dim sum, and they did not disappoint! The fried rice and noodles were flavorful, too! 128522

The Xiao Long Bao and Shrimp & Wanton Noodles were good, but I didnt like the Pork Chop with Fried Rice Topping (meat was tough, lacked flavor, cardboard texture, the fried rice was tasteless). The Steamed Chicken with Leeks was "disappointing too, very small chicken pieces and so it was "mabuto".

Service was slow.

Had a meeting somewhere near Podium. I arrived super early because I was trying to avoid traffic, so to kill time while waiting I finally gave myself a treat, been dreaming about XLB for several nights already! LOL!

Not really a fan of noodles soup so dimsum & dumplings are my go-to food when craving for Chinese cuisine!

Been to Shi Lin even before because of my Chinese boss and I always order for XLB! I can finish a set on my own 128523

It's always a debate in my mind whether I'd go for Modern Shanghai's or Shi Lin's for the best XLB in town! 128513 both are tasty & filling 128523 But Modern's XLB is soupier 128584

Service was okay. It may not be the best because food would take sometime to arrive, however their staff are always friendly 128076

My lunch staples: Xiao Long Bao and Pork & Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup. Both are tasty and filling. 128077

Everytime we have our lunch here service is really slow. From The serving of food, additional orders, getting the bill and change! Sucks! 128078

Would have given 4 stars but because of service, minus 1.

Have a taste of Taiwan here in Shi Lin. It is a fast-casual restaurant. Ate here while taking a break from meetings held at Ortigas.

I heartily recommend almost all the dishes in Shi Lin’s repertoire, I urge you to not miss any of the rice dishes. I for one, have a relentless attachment to their Fried Rice with Pork Chop and Egg, a seemingly simple dish until I’m actually eating it. The pork chop, crisp in its coating is perfection fried, the short-grained rice tumbles about it, a playground where the soundtrack is a chord of umami: big, meaty, can’t-get-enough-go-get-your-own.

It's already tasty on its own, plus the meat is tender and juicy. All of these make the premium all worth it!

The service is occasionally slow but always accommodating and gracious. Overall, I would say that I'll come back for more! You have to come and try this as well.

After reading the reviews about Shi Lin, the only regret i have is why didn't i try this place sooner?! For me, their Xiao Long Bao is the best one i've tasted! I also recommend the Pork Chop over Fried Rice. The serving is big which can be good for two people - that is if you're not that hungry... 128522

Service is great and price is reasonable. All in all a good dining experience. We will definitely be back for more! 128077

If you're going to visit Shi Lin, you must order their xiao long bao and their fried mantou. It's basically bread that you dip in condensed milk. The bread is good, it's dense and not airy at all. Goes well with the sweet condensed milk.

Shi lin is our go to place for xiao long bao! We order the same things everytime: xiao long bao, noodles with spicy sesame peanut sauce,
Pork chop with fried rice. The black truffle xiao long bao is soooo yummy! I close my eyes when I eat it sometimes haha. The hot almond cream dessert is good too :)
