The rebranded Pearl River Cafe from the same group...

When I read some of the reviews that there was a new Shi Lin branch closer to home, I was super excited! It's one of the restaurants my bf and I enjoyed. It's a healthier and lighter version when eating out with their delicious dimsum menu...
So after "studying" earlier, we were looking forward to eating some XLB...

To patrons of their other branches, their latest branch is visually disappointing. Other branches show their kitchen crew at work, skillfully making their dimsum dishes for all the diners to see. This branch is literally the Pearl River Cafe with the sign taken down and replaced with Shi Lin. Same tables and chairs, lighting, the works... No kitchen crew to be seen. Though disappointing, it's still okay...

We ordered 10 pcs of XLB, their fried pork chop and rice, and bf wanted the fried mantou... Not a fan of fried mantou but I did take a bite... Sorry but Wee Nam Kee has a better version, not to mention Kwong's Provisions...

The XLB was so sad!!! Though it looked the same, but the meat was so dry and overcooked!128546 Even the soupy broth from the inside of each piece couldn't save it...128546128546128546 the pork chop was likewise cooked to the point of being tough... Their version was also too salty!128557

To me, it's so disappointing to go to a beloved restaurant for your fave dish, only to find out that it's not executed properly... I think the management should keep a closer look at this branch...128546

I'd rather visit their Podium branch than go back here... With all the restaurants set to open in Trinoma, I don't think I'll be coming back here...

Tasted the same as the xiao long bao except it has a shrimp on top lol. i was not impressed with its taste at all
