Shilin is a popular night market in Taipei that features enormous street food. It is known for authentic flavors such as stinky tofu, dumplings, buns and more.

This restaurant serves moderately-priced Taiwanese food. Shi Lin is situated at the garden area in the 4th floor of Trinoma Mall. It is outside the cinema wing complementing our noodle cravings before taking the last full show.

We ordered the famed Xia Long Bao, Shaomai, Pork Buns, Steamed Mantao, Shrimp Fried Rice, Spicy Ribs, and Wonton Noodles. Quite a filling meal for two. We spent P1500 for a family-sized serving. The Xia Long Bao comes with two other options: Truffle and Crab fat—but I opted the classic one and it was a good choice. Not really impressed by Shaomai. Overall, the food are flavorful but not exceptional. We had a pretty good experience with their service as well.

There really is something rewarding eating good food with people close to your heart. As for me, albeit family is not complete, I had my dinner with parents and brother. We ate a lot! Folks are generally happy wit the different dumplings and noodles served. Dinner tonight is discounted because of a coupon (All thanks to a late night foodie craving) I came across one night. Despite the inconvenience of warmth because of defective airconditioning of the restaurant, I would like to think it’s not the restaurant who is at fault. This part - I wasn’t able to investigate on. Ever since this mall opened years ago, it has always been an issue. Anyway, it was a nice dinner and pretty much worth all the Xiao Long Bao’s after all!

Photos are not the best, but each dish has its unique flavor. Fresh and delicious too! My favorite would be their nutella dumpling. Brother said i’s too rich for his taste, but I have to say it’s been great for me. LOL I think i ate 3 dumplings out of 6.

Again, thank you universe. Satisfied foodie here.

The rebranded Pearl River Cafe from the same group...

When I read some of the reviews that there was a new Shi Lin branch closer to home, I was super excited! It's one of the restaurants my bf and I enjoyed. It's a healthier and lighter version when eating out with their delicious dimsum menu...
So after "studying" earlier, we were looking forward to eating some XLB...

To patrons of their other branches, their latest branch is visually disappointing. Other branches show their kitchen crew at work, skillfully making their dimsum dishes for all the diners to see. This branch is literally the Pearl River Cafe with the sign taken down and replaced with Shi Lin. Same tables and chairs, lighting, the works... No kitchen crew to be seen. Though disappointing, it's still okay...

We ordered 10 pcs of XLB, their fried pork chop and rice, and bf wanted the fried mantou... Not a fan of fried mantou but I did take a bite... Sorry but Wee Nam Kee has a better version, not to mention Kwong's Provisions...

The XLB was so sad!!! Though it looked the same, but the meat was so dry and overcooked!128546 Even the soupy broth from the inside of each piece couldn't save it...128546128546128546 the pork chop was likewise cooked to the point of being tough... Their version was also too salty!128557

To me, it's so disappointing to go to a beloved restaurant for your fave dish, only to find out that it's not executed properly... I think the management should keep a closer look at this branch...128546

I'd rather visit their Podium branch than go back here... With all the restaurants set to open in Trinoma, I don't think I'll be coming back here...

XIAO LONG BAO 11088110881108811088
It was good, but it's just too salty

Tasted the same as the xiao long bao except it has a shrimp on top lol. i was not impressed with its taste at all

This was okay. I just thought that I could get this at a cheaper price in some other place.

Parang lutong-bahay lang, as all veggies in Chinese restaurants are.

Meager skinny ribs. The only thing we got from this is the breading. And some teeny weeny meat...
