(On photo: Mom complaining about their awful service before we exited the place) If i can rate this place with no stars, i would. This is the second time this place failed us miserably. There is no room for error when it comes to the food, hotel and restaurant industry.

We came in at around 8:15pm with the restaurant 75% seating capacity filled. No one was at the door to welcome guests so after scouting the area for a good 1 minute we grabbed the table near the bar and counter. Again, no one was noticing our presence so we called the attention of one of the restaurant staff. We placed our order (all menu items with lettuce was not available). The place was slowing filling up and we noticed that those that came after us already had drinks and soon after had food served.

We called the attention of the lady behind the counter (which we learned was the manager) and asked for the hot tea be served. We were waiting already for a good 40 minutes, when we decided to cancel our orders and leave. What irked us was the attitude of the staff and manager altogether. Apparently, the staff did not punch in our orders from the beginning. Apologetic, but there was no sincerity, what they did was beyond salvaging what should have been a nice Sunday dinner. Their excuse, the place was packed. That is not an excuse, there are more established restaurants that can deliver excellent service under pressure. They have failed on service. Just like they did during opening. But that deserves another review.

I got their Chasumen, one of their signature dishes.

We've always passed by this ramen house everytime we're in this mall but I've never really had the interest to try because I felt I would just waste my money. I had the feeling they won't satisfy my palate.

But today, since I didn't wanna go to our default resto, I told my companion that we'll try something else and we both agreed to check this place out.

I scanned the menu and zoned in on the Chasumen, I thought since it's my first time, I should keep it safe and got one of their recommended dishes. She got the beef pepper rice.

When our food arrived, I wasn't the least bit suprised. It didn't look appetizing, and when I tasted the broth, it's like, the cook was cooking the pork bones and meat and in the middle of cooking decided to cut off the fire and serve. It had the taste of a broth that wasn't cooked in its proper time. I'm not sure how I can explain it but I'm sure people who cook will understand. I had to pour the condiments available and had to ask for some sesame oil to make it palatable. The ajitamago looked promising but when I ate it, it was just a soft-boiled egg. The chasu was very thin and no extraordibary taste at all. For 300++ for a small bowl, I was dejected.

Sana sinabe nilang magluluto pala ako ng sarili kong ramen para di ako nalungkot. 128559

The only saving grace was how the noodles was cooked. It was al dente.

I tried the beef pepper rice and I kinda liked it. I liked that the pepper sauce was strong and the slight sweetness did a good job balancing the entire taste of the dish.

I was supposed to give my ramen a 3 but I saw a medium cockroach roaming freely on our table so I scraped the .5 point. But since my companion was happy with her beef pepper rice, I'm putting it back to 3.

One thing I can say, the interior was nicely done. The place looked expensive and the food IS expensive for its quality. Sana they invested na lang their money in improving their taste instead of beautifying their interior, halos wala namang pumapasok na tao. 128529

Our bill amounted to more than 700 for the 2 dishes. My bill at Pound for the 3 orders we had and was hands-down satisfying was just more than 500. So yeah, I was uttely disappointed.

So satisfying to eat here after being disappointed with the last ramen I had at Kenji Tei. If I remember correctly, I ordered the Spicy Chashu Ramen. It was good. Broth not too light nor too heavy. Flavor and spiciness were just right. We also ordered two kinds of gyoza: classic gyoza (steamed) and the cheese gyoza (fried). If you're a bit tired of the regular gyoza, do try the latter! It was so good. 128525 Service was okay and price is reasonable. Would definitely make this one of my go-to places for Japanese food in the south.

Been to this resto three times. I ordered ramen the last two times i went here, both i liked very much. So i can confidently recommend their ramen sets. Won't go into detail about ramen right now as the experience is not fresh anymore.

Anyway, on to my late lunch experience this afternoon. Went with two of my buddies from work, so i had the luxury of splitting up a side order. So i got the Donburi Set A while we shared a karaage sampler.

Donburi Set A was composed of a Chashu Don, Gyoza, and salad for only 310 pesos. You can check out attached picture for reference my dear friends. I can't say that their serving of salad was generous but meh, it's not the star of the set meal. So negligible "con" if you ask me. I liked my chashu don although they could have cooked the egg better, thought mine was a bit overcooked. Everything else, i had no concerns and enjoyed my meal very much.

Karaage sampler was ... A sampler of all their karaages. (Oh so informative!) okay wait for it, so they give you 2 pieces each of spicy, honey yuzu, and original(?) karaage. Not sure about the last one, just a guess. You can always ask the staff for more info (they were very accommodating: good job shitamachi peeps). Might have lacked a bit of moisture, but they were all crispy and tasty. Found the serving apt for the price. 240 pesos, not bad right? Wish i took a picture though, it was served late (funny how that took much longer than our actual meals). So since we were rushing, we finished this dish quickly.

I guess that's it for now. Take care everyone and have a great weekend! :)

If you're dead hungry, skip this place.

Like us, we were left with sad and wasted appetite after dining here. Not that it's horrible but.. the ramen...It was just boring and at so many points, wrong. Lol. The chashu wasn't even that spectacular. Too bad the sandwhich I really wanted to get was not avail, all the sandwhiches actually weren't avail. The cereal prawn had a strong wasabi flavor but the cereal tasted almost stale though the coated shrimp would cut your gums if you're not careful with your bite128514. As for the wings, forget about it. Just skip it. The only thing delicious here is the rice. Be it the plain white rice or the squid ink rice with the 5 sad little tiny shrimps it comes with. That's it.

Not that the place is bad, it has an excellent service and the environment is cozy. Only if you're into ramen and food alike to ramen, go here.

I ordered the karaage set. It was pretty good. I liked the spicy variant a lot. The set includes rice and iced tea for two.

The downside to this place was that it took long to get our food despite the fact that the place hardly had clients.

Tried their deluxe chashu sandwich and it was not bad. 4 stars for this one. Unfortunately, their seafood potato salad was just okay and the shrimp was close to non-existent. My wife also didn't like their salmon don. And the salmon was cute.

Picture yourself in the frigid winter weather of the Japanese countryside. You would trade your arm and a leg just to get out of the cold. Enter Shitamachi. The pine walls exude warmth and comfort. The wooden tables and chairs welcome you in and invite you to sit. The hostess greets you and offers their chasu specialty. Instead, you decide to go for something else that will warm your cold body. Wagyu Beef Pepper Rice beckons and you answer.

What is served before you is a deep cast iron bowl. Inside it, sizzling Wagyu Beef on rice with a special pepper sauce, topped with corn, onsen egg and spring onions.

The sweetness of the sauce hits you first but what impresses you the most is the heat of the pepper. The moist soft rice and tender beef imbibe the pleasurable sting of the sauce. You think to find relief from the spice by taking in another mouthful but the warmth only builds up even more. Your brow and nape begin to sweat. Your sinus clears. Your tummy begs for more.

Such perfect execution!
