Maybe I just expected too much.

I'm not disappointed, I was just not wowed like how I expected.

This restaurant has been raved about a lot and I've been meaning to try this for like, more than couple of years ago already but I only had the chance recently.

I went to Binondo the other day to buy some stuff for my cousin's annual charity work and since I arrived around past lunchtime and I was already getting famished, I decided to eat first before going around.

It was a toss between a dozen of those freshly-cooked Dong Bei dumplings or Sincerity's fried chicken. I chose the latter.

When I walked in, the place wasn't crowded. In fact only one other group of customers were eating on one table, the rest were open so I chose the nearest table by the window to get the best lighting. 128513128517

I sat and waited for someone to get my order. I waited. And waited. Until after about 5 minutes no one was approaching me yet, so I went straight to the cashier and asked one server that i was ready to order. She said she'll be going to my table so I went back reluctantly.

She finally went and I gave my orders: 1/2 fried chicken and solo oyster cake and an almond jelly drink.

The almond jelly came relatively fast. The fried chicken and the oyster cake came after 10 minutes or so.

The oyster cake was so-so. The taste of old oil (im assuming based on taste) was quite overpowering and the oysters in the cake werent fresh. I think it was ok but in terms of texture, it needed a lot of improvement. I had to drench it in hot sauce and the pickled radish to suit my taste.

The fried chicken, taste was really good. I didn't need anything to accompany the chicken because it was packed with flavour.... BUT, I expected a crunch in every bite and I didn't experience it. I thought Chowking's chinese fried chicken was way better in terms of the crispness of the skin. Truthfully, I was a little bit crestfallen.

My bill amounted to 400+ for the 3 orders. Not bad I guess. I tried to justify why i can't rave about by reasoning out that maybe they were just getting lazy because of the time, so I made a mental note of going back next time.

I was thinking If I should write this because it may hurt their ranking but I figured, an honest review will always help. So, yeah, I'm writing this now.. plus of course because I'm testing the multiple photos! 128513128513

I’ve heard so much about Sincerity chicken, I thought it’s the name of the place (I mean the chicken included). It took this food trip to strip away my ignorance. Anyway, given the fact, this restaurant is popular, I had a feeling it’d be included in the itinerary and I was right. Sincerity, as Ivan (the Binondo Food Wok tour guide) puts it, has an interior that looks like any typical Chinese house; there’s a Taoist altar and some Chinese art on the wall.

In this restaurant, we were served with their bestseller, Buttered Chicken, Oyster Omelette, and Kikiam. I’m not sure if it’s from the fact that I was already full from all the food that we had that I wasn’t able to really taste the famous buttered chicken. But I did like the oyster omellete, which in the beginning tasted a little weird. Thankfully, it didn’t take me a long time to acquire the taste. I also appreciate the fact that it’s not oily. The kikiam on the other hand, is how kikiam would taste and look if it’s served right (if you know what I mean).

If you need Oyster Cake in your life, look no further than Sincerity Cafe & Restaurant. Seriously, don't look any further and pre-reserve a permanent spot in your heart, because this is all you will be needing. A Binondo, Chinatown institution for good reason, Sincerity Cafe is a treasure masked as a hole-in-the-wall.

On to the main event - Oyster Cake is a game-changer. Where to even start: The oyster cake is prepared piping hot because they are cooked on demand. The batter itself is made from sweet potato starch and eggs, giving it a gooey texture; they add heaps of fresh oysters and I believe they threw in some chopped leeks into the mixture as well, and finally, they garnish the dish with some coriander leaves. The result is an extremely crispy and delicious oyster cake that's really juicy and explodes with flavor once you bite into it.

We also had their fried chicken. So yum! It was crunchy and the meat was still moist and tender. It was the perfect balance and the kiampong rice was just as delicious. It was seasoned wonderfully and was a great balance to the chicken.

Sincerity Cafe is simple, unassuming, and you cannot beat the prices here. If you're in the mood for some affordable, authentic, no-frills Chinese delights, go here. Highly recommended!

Cheers,
Mickey

I'm a chicken addict so i know if the chicken is properly cooked and i swear to God this is the most perfect fried chicken i have ever tasted!! Good amount of breading as in sakto lang sya unlike other resto na parang breading yung inorder mo and not chicken hahaha! It has a sweet taste to it which makes you want to eat more! and lastly it's perfectly cooked! crunchy on the outside and super moist on the inside! and i'm craving for it right now while i'm typing this review ohwell better plan another binondo foodtrip!

If you want to go on a food trip to Binondo, try this hole-in-the-wall restaurant which has been serving delicious, no frills, home style Chinese food for 2 generations. Must try is the Sincerity Fried Chicken and Fried Oyster Pancake. The Kikiam was also aromatic and good, as well as, the Duck Bihon in Herbal Soup. And the price is very reasonable. It is again simple food like this that I enjoy the most. After eating, it is also good to walk down to Ongpin Street to shop at the Chinese grocery stores that line the street.

No frills eatery that's been in existence ever since & still the taste of the dishes I never skip when I do visit Chinatown which is rarely ... Lol

Surprise that the place looked remodeled... But the old charm and smell still stays ...

Sincerity chicken isn't a hype ... Savory & crisp ... Eat while serve hot ... Moist & great dish

The unassuming , bola bola soup ... Not even appetizing looking is actually beyond flavorful

Pancit miki ... U can totally skip this wet tasting not specially noodle dish.

Sincerity fried rice ... I love anything with these small chunks of Chinese sausage ... lol

And the finale ... OYSTER CAKE... Large size... Or it won't be enough for us... Lol... Crispy edges, moist creamy plump sweet fresh oyster with hot sauce is loveeee!!!

For extra authentic Chinese food, visit them!

Their special Sincerity Fried Chicken is really worth tasting. It's not too oily and salty. The taste of vinegar in it is just perfect. I also loved their Fresh Lumpia, most esp. when it has loads of peanuts. Its sauce tasted extra awesome too! The Fried Rice paired with their authentic Kikiam were very delicious and fresh too!

We also ordered their bestseller, Shrimp Omelette that tasted so fresh with its veggies! The ChaCanton and Halo-hall were just fine for me.

Sincerity fried chicken is something to die for, must be consumed freshly cooked, otherwise it is not crunchy. The kiampong, rice cooked with meat, taro, baby shrimp then sprinkled with golden fried onions, peanuts and spring onion. The fried oyster cake was cooked to perfection. They also have kikiam, fried stuffed prawn and cha bihon ( bihon guisado ) ohhh too much food

Meet with my BFF after 4 years so we decided to eat in binondo our very first loved chinese restaurant!

Walang pag babago, everything masarap
I love the super tender pork pancit canton aka birthday noodle.
You can eat even the bones super lambot and super sarap!
The yang chow fried rice, the spare ribs. And the shanghai.
Budget friendly although the place and the ambiance is not so much good looking. Typical small resto business. But I think this one is the first one, I haven't tried the other branches which is loaded at the mall somewhere.
But the food here is 128077128077 forgot to take picture cause we were so excited to chat!

they are really generous with the oysters in the big fried oyster cake. i got umay with the oysters, too much128518.

the fried chicken is the best. no need to add condiments. the fried chicken on its own is already packed with flavor.

need to try the machang and kikiam soon.

thank god for google maps, we were able to find this place. it's just along yunchenco st. the location is really busy, a lot of delivery trucks loading and offloading stuff.

i am from qc so it's really a hassle to go here from my place. parking? no idea. opted to use lrt when i went here.
