I'm a sweets guy so I had tons of fun eating here.
I'm also a fan of breakfast food so I enjoyed the waffles and pancakes, especially the banana nutella pancakes.

I fell in love with their savory dishes, like the crab fat pasta and the white truffle pasta.

The drinks were surprisingly good! The reposado margarita was refreshing, and I'm looking forward to trying the French lavender 75 cocktail next.

I've been hearing about the good coffee and food that Single Origin offers for months now and I finally had the chance to try it out on a week night with the husband. We went to Tim Ho Wan for dinner and we decided to get some coffee from Single Origin.

When we got there, the place was packed even if it was already late. The place was a little dim but had this homey ambiance. They used a lot of wood elements in their interiors coupled with bricks. Shelves filled with wine and beer on one side while another one filled with coffee gadgets on the other side of the wall. They also have this huge black board that serves as their menu board. Chill and relaxed - that's the main atmosphere here.

On our first visit, we simply got two cups of joe -- Mocha and Orange Infused Cappuccino.

> Valrhona Mocha for 180Php (8oz) hot | 195Php (16oz) cold

One mean cup of warm mocha right here! Strong coffee with sour notes, a little bitter and very little sweetness - this will certainly keep you awake for hours! I loved the deep flavor of the Valrhona chocolate, not something that's from a very sweet chocolate syrup or a mocha sauce.

> Orange Infused Cappuccino for 185Php (8oz)

Espresso x milk that's been infused with orange and then dusted with cocoa. I was expecting some citrus kick here from the orange but there was none. There wasn't even a hint of orange from the aroma. On the other hand, the coffee was strong with sour notes.

On my second visit, I went for a pasta dish a another cup of joe.

> Gibraltar for 150Php (5.5oz)

Gibraltar was my choice of coffee. Served in a rock glass, this one had espresso in it and textured milk. I loved this more than the other two coffee that I've tried on our first visit. This was strong, had the right ratio of milk, bitter, some fruity and sour end notes. It was perfect!

> Crab Fat Pasta for 350Php

I think I found my favorite seafood pasta. I can proudly recommend this pasta if you want something that's light and flavorful. There was generous amount of crab fat here so you'll get the full flavor plus it has scallops and shrimps. Finished off with shavings of Parmesan cheese, I made sure to clean up my bowl with the garlic bread.

Single Origin has an extensive menu. They have pasta, waffles, French toasts, pancakes, burger, meat, rice meals and even baked rice. There's just so much to choose from! Service was on point as well. Servers were attentive and always on the look out for empty glasses. Great experience on both visits! Definitely going back for more.

#JLJustLanded recommends:

Chicken and Fries
-- 3 pcs fried chicken and truffle fries (apparently though, fries were out of stock when we ordered thus replaced by truffle chips)

White Truffle Pasta
-- with bacon, mushroom, poached egg and truffle oil. As Lance's ultimate fave is anything white sauce, he gave this a 3/5. Not bad, eh?

Post dinner drinks with the K's. My drink was recommended by Jayson. I found it too sour for my liking. Forgot what it was called.

Haven't tried the food. I have not returned since this visit last March. But it seems like a nice place to have a few (or a couple more) drinks.

Drink is a 3. Extra star for the place.

Sorry, ito na mag credit nyo.

Green Mojito with or without alcohol

Without alcohol for 180PhP
Refreshing. Minty. Limey.

With rhum additional 100PhP
Aghast about the additional. Should have been informed. Lol. Anyway, this one is a little bitter and cringy taste at the end. Diminished refreshing feel.

We laughed a little after hearing the plastic sound after a toast.

To call it a night, get ready for this, we submitted ourselves to a single swig of alcohol. 128514128514128514 K had classic mimosa, J had mojitos and as for me, I had French lavender 75 as it got me curious. I love how spacious the restaurant/cafe is. It has a very rustic vibe, high ceiling and engaging staff. Since it was already quite late in the evening, there weren't that many customers inside so we had good conversations before closing. I can't thank enough Jayson J. and Kristin A. for sharing a spare of their time despite their hectic schedule. Just one of the reasons why I love looloo.

Look at this latte art. I was first surprised of how the heart latte art went wrong but thanks to creative minds we made it a fish.

128204 honey latte
Oh no. This just taste ordinary. The organic honey was not recognized that much. I suggest you go get a plain latte instead of this.

Well, this place got a nice ambience. Good for unwinding after work especially if you had a stressful day-- soul chill music and dim lights.

Went here for the wife's friend's despedida party, thought that we were lucky to get a table for 10 despite it being Saturday night. But I guess that was a clue by itself on how the night's experience will be. It didn't help since it was pretty obvious that the place serves "upscale" food so I had better than usual expectations.

We ordered the home made corned beef with with poached egg and garlic parmesan potato hash, the bacon rice casserole and 1 drink each. Basil strawberry mint lemonade and another glass of classic lemonade.

Drinks arrived first, the classic lemonade was too sour in our opinion, adding syrup and mixing with water actually ended up with us having a 3rd drink. On the other hand, the strawberry basil mint lemonade ended up being too sweet. The 2 drinks ended up balancing each other but that shouldn't have been the case.

From what you can see on the picture, they did spread the corned beef to make it look that it covers the plate, the potato hash was spread the same way. We actually ended up ordering another side order of the potato hash to fill us up. Despite it being advertised as a poached egg, it looked that way but when we sliced the yolk - it was dry and flaky already. The water was too hot thus overcooking the egg. Hard boiled yolk texture on a poached egg style cooking and presentation. Good job!

We were warned about the rice casserole taking up 20 to 30mins to cook so we expected to wait - but be warned that you will wait for it, and just end up being disappointed - it was baked rice with bacon bits in between, the rice itself ended up dry. Assuming it was "just Php180" in a place that serves Php350 to 800 per entrée, it really tasted like it was one of the cheaper dishes.

Perhaps one shouldn't ask for much for food when it's a coffee place - but when you command pricing like that - you should at least set a decent bar for food quality. Else just stop serving the food and just focus on the drinks. The others raved about the truffle potato chios, the truffle fries and the truffle pasta. Not much of a biggie for me since I find most people being "suckers for truffle" - that as long as it smells and tastes of truffle that its good already. But I found the truffle too strong for its own good.

People liked the coffee and the out of the ordinary selection of beers. So the verdict is - go for the drinks and the coffee, not for the food.

I love their Shrimp Po Boy-deep fried shrimp tossed in honey mayo dressing in bread with truffle potato chips. Their Bacon and Egg Baked Rice Casserole is super yummy too. Syphon black onyx is the best!

After the sumptuous dinner in TEFH, we went here to cap off the night. I ordered this Salted Caramel Latte. That was past 11PM already and the place is until 12MN only though the servers still gladly accommodated us without any hesitations.

I ordered Salted Caramel Latte and as our orders came one by one, we kept on comparing the latte arts done in each cup. It was a fun night for everyone.

My Salted Caramel is an espresso poured over house-made caramel and textured milk, topped with sea salt. Of course it was salty and I was looking for something strong that night. It was my fault that I chose the unfitting coffee for me. 128555128555128555

Breakfast is the best to perk up your mornings 10084️ Headed to BGC this morning for a hearty breaky with the culprit of why I gain weight slash my partner in eating128517. The place exactly opens at 7am. We are 15 mins early & waited patiently. I was able to see the place right ahead while waiting, and it looks interesting. The interiors are mostly insdustrial wood which I find so vintage and classy. I love the way it looks. Such a nice place to start the day.

Single Origin serves All-Day Western Breakfast. Not just an ordinary cafè, it serves good meat dishes, craft beers and wine. Tip: they got lots of coffee! I dare to go back and try a new one.

Its a kind of "Corned Beef" day for me and my date, we had:

Homemade Corned Beef Benedict (P390)Homemade corned beef, topped with poached duck eggs and hollandaise. Served with garlic parmesan potato hash. - looking for the usual corned beef (the shredded type), but its not.. It has a sauce on top(near to the taste of mustard, with slight liver taste), and love it! Not salty but tasted good with the sauce. Missing the taste of poached egg which I mixed with Potato hash..Perfect!

Corned Beef and Egg with Waffles (P450)
2 crispy thick waffles served with homemade corned beef, your choice of 2 organic eggs and vermont maple syrup- same corned beef, "malasado" scrambled egg as requested is FTW!

Salted Caramel Coffee- i just fell in love with it 10084️ bold taste , some kinda sweet for me. But its good!

Food: its not the usual breakfast that you'll say "so..so". It has this extra taste that is new. And you begin to ask what was it..

Ambiance: Love10084️ eyes are strolling around. Pogi points to my date.

Service: breakfast meals takes time to serve but its ok. Servers are courteous. Plus extra instruction on ordered food are correct.

It was my second time here last Sunday. The first time I was here was for dinner with my college friends, but I don’t think I got to make a review for that. Huhu and then I only got to go back for the coffee during Mother’s Day.

My sister and mom shared a cup of hot café latte. I, on the other hand, ordered an iced Valrhona Mocha. I’ve had this in my first visit, iced also, and I really liked it so I had to order this again. It tasted like bittersweet iced chocolate, so I’d describe it as something like coffee flavored iced chocolate (just a hint of coffee in a chocolate drink) instead of chocolate flavored coffee (which is more of a hint of chocolate in coffee) or popularly known as mocha.

It’s like love at first sip, because I can’t imagine ordering anything else. Like none of the others seem good enough, and just a waste of my time and money.

I had a meeting here yesterday and our client was a bit late so we took the opportunity to grab a quick bite before she arrived.

This place indeed reminded me of Refinery. I think they have similar owners?

Anyway, we ordered the Surf n Turf Beer Dough Pizza. It was the bomb. 128557 crust was perfect, generous cheese, and flavorful shrimps! However, I didn't really taste the steak part? But this was still a good choice. Price-wise at 300+? It was worth it. Good for two hungry people.

Their bar is fully stocked with some rare liquor like St. Germain and some Japanese whisky bottles.

Although prices are a bit steep, I think you're paying for the quality and ambience. So yeah, I'm definitely coming back here to try their Cappuccino Lava Cake. 128539

Their bathroom is also clean with bidet. 128076🏼

Adios! 128111

After our filling dinner at Todd English, we went straight to Single Origin to cap the night with some drinks!

The industrial vibe of the cafe is very inviting! Lovely interiors, cool playlist and wide array of drinks to choose from the menu. Like seriously, WIDE! Ang dami! It took us a lot of time to decide which one to get. As a first timer, I asked the regulars for some recommendations. They recommended me some drinks from different categories and I ended up opting for the Hot Chocolate Valrhona.

We immediately got our drinks after a few minutes. It's cool to see a great Latte art even on non-coffee drinks like my choice of drink. Little did I know that Valrhona is a premium French brand that produce finest gourmet chocolates. I've never been to France and I don't know how these chocolates taste like, but I really like the dark chocolate drink I had that night. Fine and smooth chocolate drink topped with freshly-pressed texture milk.

Would love to go back and try out all the other drinks...as much as I can. They also serve waffles, sandwiches, salads, pastas, desserts, and even wines! Sure you'll need a week to spare to try out everything on their menu!

In photo are the Sausage and Eggs dish and the Salted Caramel Latte.
For the ambiance alone, I'd give it beyond 5 stars. The food, although conservative (the Sausage was a measly Asian size lol), was good! I enjoyed the meal. The drink however is priced exorbitantly high. Then again they're in a premium location so rent must be sky, sky high. But, overall, this a place I would love to hang out in on a regular basis.

It's rare when I get to roam around BGC in the afternoon on a weekday and when I do get a chance, I make sure I get to eat something yummy. And a few weeks back, I got to visit... Single Origin.

Hello, Single Origin.

Dark hues of brown greeted me as soon as I stepped in. With predominantly wood interiors, this place exudes a warm and welcoming ambiance.

I wasn't exactly hungry when I visited and after seeing that the dishes offered do not exactly fall under the "wallet-friendly" category, I opted to just order a a pot of Black Onyx using Hario V60 Pourover (PHP165) and Cappuccino Lava Cake (PHP295).

The server warned me that it takes roughly 20 minutes for the cappuccino lava cake to be ready. Since I was not in a hurry, I still ordered the bestselling dessert.

In less than 10 minutes, my pot of coffee was served.

The Hario Pourover version is the cheapest among the coffee methods but it was also the one the smallest serving at 12 oz compared to others at 15 and 20 oz.

Familiar with the taste of Black Onyx as I ordered it before when I visited Refinery, I took a sip without any sweetener. But my unsophisticated taste buds found the coffee slightly bitter despite it being one of the sweeter coffees available (as it highlights deeper caramelized sugars and notes of dark chocolate). In short, I ended up adding sugar. And it tasted a lot better.

After a couple more minutes and half pot of coffee gone, the lava cake finally arrived and... it was so mouthwatering.

The baked molten Belgian dark chocolate with espresso was heavenly. Served warm and moist, it had a nice dark and rich flavor.

I loved getting the top part of lava cake for it had more texture with its slightly crisp edges.

I enjoyed it even more with the vanilla ice cream served on the side which created a beautiful contrast of flavors and sensation.

No wonder it's one of Single Origin's bestsellers!

I'll definitely be back!
