Worth the hassle!

The restaurant only has seats for 10 diners, so they require you to reserve and pre-order your food at least 1 day before.

All the soba noodles were freshly made. I had the beef soba. The beef was cut into thin tender slices. The broth was delicious.

My group ordered the appetizer set. I didn't really enjoy the tofu and fish cake, but the unagi was divine.

Make sure you order the marinated yellow fin tuna (magoro-no marine). The tuna was fresh and the marinade was full of flavor. It was my personal favorite dish.

SOBAng SARAP! 128525

Love authentic Japanese food like I do? Like to add some bit of flare and excitement to your dining? Then you’ve got to try this hole-in-the-wall Japanese Resto in #Cebu!

SOBA KAMAKURA is a 10 seater Resto (so you have to reserve in advance) where you will be treated with nothing but good food and good service. They serve delicious sashimi (some even ordered from japan like the chutoro), tempura, but their specialty is their soba sets. It’s a sit-down dining experience fit for a date or you can do it solo or with friends because you deserve a special treat from time to time 128514.

My friends and I got different soba sets so we can gauge each one. Suffice to say, we enjoyed everything.

Here are the menu items we got:
128073🏼 Ebi Tempura with special salt dip
I’ve never tried tempura with salt. Didn’t know it was even better that using tempura sauce. It gives it that extra savory kick without making the Ebi soggy like the usual sauce does. It’s a good appetizer to start off your meal.

128073🏼 Chutaro Sashimi
For 1,400 this sashimi is a bit expensive at 6-8 slices only. But since this is flown in directly from Japan, you’d understand why. It was so fresh and juicy still. It’s so soft and flavorful even with just a little soy sauce and wasabi. It’s so close to the Chutoro I tried in Osaka so it’s legit. A little painful in the pocket but if you have some to extra hard earned cash to spare, I’d say you have to try it.

128073🏼Gyudon Soba Set
For p780, its a steal as it includes a gyudon soba, a gyudon rice bowl, tea, and capped off with dessert bowl. The gyudon was really soft and tender and was even topped off with a raw egg on top. Talk about a complete meal!

128073🏼 Beef Soba
The bowl was p580 and it was filling enough. Just sad I didn’t convert it to a set (the set was around 1,400 I think) but I thoroughly enjoyed it still. The soba had some tempura bits for an extra crunch and had a beef dipping sauce to accompany it which added another depth of flavor to it.

128073🏼 Ebi Soba
If you’re into shrimp, this is a must try. The bowl had a generous amount of Ebi and the cold soba sauce complemented the shrimp itself. The bowl looks small but it’s really filling.

128073🏼 Matcha pudding with vanilla ice cream
To cap off our lunch, we tried the dessert matcha pudding. IT WAS SO GOOD. I didn’t notice I finished it in less than a minute (sarap e). It’s not too sweet but it packs a mean flavor punch. Perfect ender for the meal we just had!

What’s also good to know is that the chef (who’s actually a Japanese that speaks perfect Cebuano... but with a Japanese accent so it’s kinda cool haha) hand prepares the soba noodles from scratch every time. He’ll even show you the fresh soba before they cook it.

Other reminders:
- since they sit a limited number, book at least 1-2 days in advance
- unique items like the chutoro need to be ordered 1 day in advance as well so tell the Resto when you reserve
- don’t be late for your schedule appointment. Best to go lunch time if you don’t want too much people
- check out the CR for a legit Japanese style automatic washroom experience hahaha (everything’s automated!)
- best to use Waze of Google maps to get there as it’s not in the highway. You have to go further in to get to it (and don’t be scared when you see the door. It’s such a minimalist facade so you won’t know its a Resto until you enter the Resto haha).
