Like I said in my previous posts. I am not a fan of Thai Food particularly the Pad Thai. Still tried eating it earlier but I was never satisfied BUT good thing they served us fried spring rolls and that's what made me happy! We also ordered sticky rice and it was great!!! I am inlove with it! Plus the Thai Tea was great also!! I have never been this satisified in dining on a thai resto :)

Maybe the only thing that they lack is the training for the servers. They lack hospitality/good customer service. They show respect to the customers but they don't smile or anything.

Soms apparently lost its authenticity. Sad because I was having a bad Thai food craving and I thought I went to the right place. Their noodles are no longer as good as it used to so I would say it's terribly overpriced. Even their signature Thai milk tea isn't as good. But avoid the siomai at all costs, I might be exaggerating here but it's almost inedible. No one in the family dared to finish it.

On top of eveything, the place was poorly lit, not well-ventilated, and service could be compared to your typical carinderia. Probably not going back anytime soon.

Pad Thai, Phad Ki Moo Gai, Laksa yummm! And and and oh, Thai Tea! Authentic Thai cuisine. Around P1K for three. I love it! What an experience.

Som's used to be my favorite Thai resto because of its authentic menu and taste. I have been very disappointed with how it is now. Their Pad Thai was reddish in color and was very blant, I had to mix some sauce to make the taste better. Their Speing Rolls were not the same as before. The green curry had only 3 small pieces of meat. Very disappointing.

Bastardization of thai food, avoid like a plague! Place used to be good but i heard thai owner no longer manages. If you're a fan of overpriced, gross, catsup-laden soggy pad thai, then you found your place. If you like your curry swimming in sauce with barely any meat, then hurrah, soms is the place. For an unsanitary, poorly lit eatery they dare ask for service charge!

Their Pad Thai is the stuff my dreams are made of! The soft noodles, the perfectly cooked squid, and the sweet-salty-sour sauce got me taking bite after big bite. On a bad day, I'd probably be able to inhale a whole platter of this. 128514

Got a plate of their Spicy Squid too and they weren't kidding when they said this dish packs some heat. This stuff will make you sweat and cry happy tears! Be sure to buy a bottle of their sweet Thai Milk Tea to combat the chili. 128516

Overall, Som's is a great find. Will come back for more!

I go to Som's not for the Thai food, but for its inasal manok and chorizo. They grill outside the restaurant in traditional charcoal, and nothing can still beat this type of cooking. The chorizo is particularly good! Waiting time though is a bit long, as they only grill upon order. But it is so worth it when it arrives on your table.

Som's used to be the go-to hole in the wall resto in 'Backwell' (Back of Rockwell) Makati for Thai food, but, at best, it is affordable, value for money Thai food. But for its inasal, I don't mind checking it out from time to time.

Used to be just a small shack where you order food from a counter while looking at all those delicious photos of their food. Enjoyed eating along the street then with plastic chairs and tables and cats by your feet. I see they have progressed, now situated in a sprawling edifice but I guess this did not do them any good maybe diners preferred that ghetto style dining before. Tried the spiciest red curry chicken. Not that spicy for me and was tad too sweet. Swimming in curry sauce but had hard time tasting the curry. 128530

Was very hungry so decided to check this place. Was suppose to be a good dinner meal since its near by, a few groupies was among those that arrived same time i did. I ordered my list of favorites, was hoping the service would be very quick since was not so much customers. To my dismay, i had to follow up my order 3 times, the new groups that arrived after me had their food served already, i asked what was taking to long my order was just chicken curry? So i decided to just drink my tea and leave after paying ended up my order wasnt even ready? What the hell was that? They should improve their service, the owner i pressume didnt even bother to apologize maybe because they thought their establishment is to popular for others well if you are looking for fast good service, this place definitely isnt the one! Miss that days when they were to attentive, now their servers were relaxed i even had to go up the counter to order, and pay my drink. Cancelled order! I feel bad about tonight that they have poorly attended to me.

Finally got to try this place, I've been wanting to try this place since last year but none of my friends want to come with me. It's their loss! Haha

Everything that we ordered was heavenly delicious:

*Shrimp Salad—PERFECTION!
*Seafood Pad Thai—Best I've ever tried.
*Green Curry—Not really a curry fan but I liked this.
*Spicy Shrimp—Too spicy for me since I don't really eat spicy food but to someone who loves spicy stuff, this will be a big hit!

Price was affordable as well, it's cheaper than most Thai restaurants. Place has a carinderia vibe but I think it's part of the authentic experience.

In all fairness, the food we ordered tasted well.

Red pork curry
Garlic pepper chicken
Pad siew
Grilled isaw, gizzard, and longanisa

And oh their famous thai tea is a must-try.

The sad thing about the visit though was the poor service.

We cleared the utensils used by previous customers because attendants did not clean the table. We even brought the used plates right to the kitchen door.

Grill stuff arrived after 15-20min

Plates, spoon and fork after 30-40min (so just imagine eating without these essentials)

The rest the order arrived after almost 2hrs.

I understand that we are a big group of 12 and its dinner time so its acceptable to get food a bit delayed but its too much to wait for 2hrs specially if all are hungry at dinner time.

I haven't found a thai restaurant in Manila which is as authentic as the thai food that you taste in Bangkok. The food in Soms is good but not that authentic. But this place will make you feel like your eating in the side streets of Bangkok. That's why I recommend this hole in the wall joint. Try their thai iced tea 128077

I love the vibe here. It's like your in Bangkok. The food is so so but its the closest thai restaurant that can have in Manila. If you miss Thailand then this is the perfect place for you.

The last time I ate here was probably 3 years ago and the first time was 7 years back 128514

Went here to introduce my college friends to new food and to my high school friend, Faye. I liked the food but did not love it but I fell in love with their Thai milk tea sooo much! Been craving for it weeks even months after that visit!

If you're tryna show off your "foodie-ness" bring your friends and family here. This place is surely a nice hole in the wall. They have better parking as they are practically the only restaurant on that street.

PS
Do not forgot to bring home some bbq from their neighbor! They're humungous! Definitely a bang for your buck for P30-38/stick 128521

This quaint hole in the wall place is not that noticeable when you pass by Rockwell Drive, but it gained popularity thru word of mouth.

Upon entering, you'll immediately see that the place wasnt furnished to please, and kindda looks like a leveled up carinderia, but dont let that deceive you. People actually do flock the place during lunch and dinner.

I looooved their Yellow Beef Curry. Although the beef inside the stew were only countable in one hand, none the less, it tasted excellent. The sauce itself can serve as your viand. Also do try their Seafood Tom Yam Soup (but you could also order it with beef, chicken, or seafood). I dont know what was in their Tom Yam, but it was so refreshing. Didnt rave much about their Pork Pad Thai (which can also come in seafood, chicken, or beef) though.

We craved for Thai food tonight so SOMS was top on our list and it didn't disappoint! Even after so many years, the food quality and good service in this place is still as delicious and efficient. Definitely worth the 10%service charge add-on to the bill! We had our usual favorites Thai Milk Tea P50, Pad Thai, Green Beef Curry, Spicy Salad ( P200-250) and plain rice P20 a cup. Not bad for what is arguably the best priced Thai food in the city! BUSOG.
