Another discovery along macapagal ave! Again, no background info whatsoever, we just went for it! After walking and shopping through 2 bazaars, was craving for some Korean food and yeah I miss choice buffet which was our go to place near world trade. Spotted this resto at hk sun
Plaza and we just said 'bahala na'!
Menu was VERY extensive, they even had soup with rice and other more authentic dishes that I only see in dramas 128568 since there were so many things to choose from we naturally got confused so we just got their ssambal set. Minimum of two orders so 1000 for the both of us. We still wanted to order but waited a bit to see if it was enough.
And boy was it enough! The food and sides just kept on coming! The main dish was spicy pork, it was really good but really spicy too! We also had soup, a yummy dipping sauce, a ton of unlimited sides, fresh veggies as well as boiled veggies and rice. Needless to say we were super full and we didn't even finish the meat!
Can't go back to try their bibimbap and soup with rice!

First time to dine at Song Do Won, and I must admit, I left with a very full and happy tummy.

We were seated inside the non smoking area, and instead of going for a samgyupsal dinner, we had servings of bibimbap, soup, galbijim, and more! They first served us with their complimentary dishes, and amongst all, my favorites would be the sweet kamote and seaweed-ish veggy. Also they served a stone pot steamed egg, which was also complimentary but didnt taste like anything. Lacked salt.

Our bibimbaps were quite different, probably because we went for pork instead of beef, and it was my first time to eat bibimbap with hard boiled egg instead of pan fried egg. It was still good though and I loved how mildly spicy it was. The complimentary soup was also great. I really shy away from spicy food as it makes me cry, but when it comes to Korean food, it's always the right amount of spicy that leaves you wanting more! The rice cake (forgive me, I am not familiar with spicy dishes' names) was equally good and gooey!! I want more. The chicken bulgogi was also good but reminded me of how chicken adobo is usually cooked. The spicy soup with toge I didnt dare touch!!

My favorite would be the galbijim! So tender and perfectly seasoned. I love korean beef stew!

Overall, service was okay, but there was a time that the waiter seemed distracted, haha. But I enjoyed the meal and find myself still thinking of the food I just had. How can something spicy be so yummy????

Would I come back??? Probably for the galbijim, rice cake, and the complimentary dishes.

Most of the Koreans eating here arrives in batch coming out of tourist buses, I think this place is a stopover for tourists because it is authentic, and cheap.

Just have at least 1 order and you will experience a treat of I think max of 8 different types of free Kimchi, and refillable 128525

There was a time we received 10 different types of Kimchi 128513 Type of Kimchi to be served depends on what is available at the time of your visit.

I really love this place, this is our go-to place whenever I crave for Korean foodie. 128523

One thing I really look into when trying a Korean restaurant is the authenticity. This one is legit! I share the same love for Korean food with my parents so they decided to bring me here. Customers are mostly Korean. You'll also see the Korean owner running around assisting customers and cleaning tables. It's rare to see Filipinos in here but they are of course just as accommodating.

The food was really good. I'm not sure if the serving was small or we were just terribly matakaw that we had to to order 3 batches of marinated meat for the lettuce wraps. The Sundubu (spicy tofu stew) was the best I've tasted by far. It's so spicy your throat will itch, but I loved it.

Officially my new go-to place for a Korean fix. 🇰🇷128077

This is one of the better Korean restaurants in the area. I have tried A lot of restaurants in the Malate and Pasay area and so far only Song Do Won can truly be considered a true Korean restaurant worth visiting. They have good appetizers and their Bean Curd Soup is great! The soup is full of flavor & has a great portion. Their Korean BBQ was awesome! They have really juicy beef BBQ and the pork is perfect for wrapping lettuce with sauce and garlic. The closest competitor to this place is A-Won right across the straight. The problem is that place requires you to order 2 BBQ dishes which is not cool because you would have to spend more. I would definitely head back to Song Do Won soon!
