We left Baguio earlier than usual to beat the traffic rush of people going back to Manila. We dropped by SOUL Cafe in La Union. This quaint and quirky cafe is a hidden gem situated right before Shell Gas Station. A really great find after traversing the twists and turns of Kennon Road (also a great stop if your heading to Ilocos). They also have a very nice and clean restrooms.
While they have a la carte menu for individuals, we ordered from their Pinoy favorites menu.
KareKare ✔️✔️✔️✔️
Would have wanted a thicker sauce to come along with the dish, but this was good nevertheless. Serves 3-4 people.
Sizzling Boneless Bangus ✔️✔️✔️✔️
This was very good! Served on a sizzling plate, it was flavorful enough that it does not need any sawsawan.
Fried Chicken ✔️✔️✔️✔️
Lumpiang Shanghai ✔️✔️✔️✔️
I didn't get to taste these but the kids loved it.
Finally a great stop over en route to the North.

Quirky cafe in the ️ of La Union. Dropped by for a stopover on our way to Ilocos. Interiors are very nice and cozy. I ordered the strawberry crepe and it was really good. They used fresh strawberries.

Food is delicious and is not expensive. Serving size is average but overall it's a good experience.
We ordered Pinakbet Seafood, Lechon Kawali, Boneless Bangus and Portuguese Shrimp for a group of 8.

So sorry I have to start this post about their comfort room (which is one of my fetishes). It was amazeballs because the ambiance felt like I was in the forest! Haha. The ladies room got a big window that had a view of the mountains. Also, the interiors were made of woods and lots of plants for display. Moreover, their loo was clean, they have tissues, and yey for bidet!
Anyway, the food was good but service was slow. Place was okay naman.
P.S. If you have the same fetish as mine then you must visit this place! Haha.

The service was very slow it took us an hour and so waiting for the food. The serving of each dish is enough for 2-3 persons an at a very affordable price. I love the ambiance of this place tho!

We try to pass by this place every time we head to Baguio. Their salpicao pasta is one of my faves. Haven't been disappointed yet.

If you're heading up north to Baguio or La Union, you may want to drop by this quaint, little place for a snack or two.
SOUL actually stands for Spice Of Urban Life, which I think means that the owners wanted to bring the urban gastronomic experience to the provinces. Uh huh.
They do offer a variety of meals from sandwiches, pasta to more international fare like japanese and mediterrenean cuisine. The food is priced quite low so I wasn't expecting much.
Tried the Breakfast Steak which really looked and tasted more like the usual tapsilog than steak. The other order was the Penne Aglio Olio which was a bit lacking in flavor. Overall, the food was average but the price evened things out considering food in most stopovers aren't happiness-inducing.
Oh, they also serve Kapeng Alamid. You know, coffee made out of poop. I wanted to order it but it was at 350 a cup, so maybe next time.

They served the food at it's best. Must try fried chicken pandan. It's really the best for me. What we ate also was fried boneless bangus, papaitan and ilokanong dinendeng (vegetable meal with bangus on top).

A small cafe located just before you enter kennon road. A perfect place for stop-overs.
I love how they present their food with a little love and inspiration. Literally.
Recommending: juicy cheeseburger, fire on ice (ice cream on coffee), peach crepe and my personal favorite - green tea latté.
