Spatzle was one of the hotter places to go to when EDSA Shang's new wing opened about four years ago. Since I hardly go there, it's only my first time in this place today for a lunch meeting. It was supposed to be at a Ramen place nearby but, well, at least this got off one of my to try places in this mall off my list. My colleagues ordered Swedish meatballs which, in hindsight, I ought to have ordered. Spatzle is named after a kind of pasta from Europe, as it serves the comfort European food here, like Rosti, a potato dish of Swiss origin. I heard that the owner is the original owner of Teriyaki Boy, so that's a cool tidbit coz I was a huge fan of its first branch in Greenhills.

I ordered one of their supposed best sellers, the Coffee Crusted Bistecca, PhP585. Boy was it tough. I asked them to cook it medium rare to medium but I found it very tough to shew. Which is a shame coz the brandy reduction was good and I liked the coffee and pepper crust. 127775127775

I also ordered their Haus Tea, PhP90. Brewed taste, black tea and good mix of kalamansi. Yummmmm and refreshing. 127775127775127775127775 Also had their Haus paprika chips as appetizer. PhP155 which has decent amount and a nice mayo dip. 127775127775127775

Spatzle, at a Glance:
> Food & Beverage: 127775127775
> Service (Dine-In): 127775127775127775 they were good, but when I complained about the beef, they were a bit dedma lang (no reaction).
> Kitchen Service: 127775127775127775 (food was served quickly and the seasoning was good, but I think the quality of the tenderloin was suspect, so it may be an sourcing issue)
> Ambience: 127775127775127775127775 it has a modern and open air feel to it. Nice place. I wouldn't mind hanging out here, actually. Plus may wifi.
> Value for Money: 127775127775127775 good thing it was a treat. I wouldn't have paid that much in hindsight. Honestly, I was feeling carnivorous and didn't care for potato and pasta base dishes which, though very appealing, countered my need to cut on carbs, so I went this route. I was lazy to really look and read looloo or ask around, I guess. Coz I was craving for ramen originally and I was a bit late to lunch.
OVERALL: 127775127775127775 (2.5 rounded off to a 3 just to be nice coz of their ice tea, ambience, and presentation)
___________
> Worth a try - Yes especially if you're from the area and love European food (then again, there's D&B and Kettle, too)
> Worth a return - NO, sorry 128564128550128533

> TIPS: read the other people's reviews. Not mine. And avoid the coffee crusted bistecca.

> VERDICT: forgettable main dish. Great ice tea and decent appetizer. I'm not really fond of European comfort food, nor do I see often places like this, but I was not satisfied. This was just a barely passable score. #curiositysatisfied

Decided to go for the mint lemonade and some make your own roesti ( with sauteed mushrooms, scrambled eggs and some marinara sauce)
The drink was a bit too sweet and strong for my liking. Ask for some water to dilute it. Food was just okay. I do love the sauteed mushrooms but I guess the combination wasn't that wow for my taste but I do blame myself for that haha. The service was a bit long for my order but I don't mind. I appreciate that the staff didn't rush us despite the mall was pretty much closing already. Thanks again!

I have two sets of best friends from high school: A and E, who usually prefer Western food; and M and C, who are more inclined to Asian dishes. I'm blessed, because I get the best of both worlds when I eat out with them.

A couple of weeks ago, I met up with A and E for an early dinner / catch up session. Since we're quite indecisive when it comes to choosing a restaurant, we had to go around the entire East Wing of Shangri-la Plaza to check our options. Spätzle Euro Market Cafe caught our attention, since we wanted to try something different from our usual pizza + pasta dishes.

Upon entering, I immediately noticed how well-lit the place was. Business is slow at this time (around 5pm). Their menu was easy to understand as most dishes have a description, so first-timers won't have a hard time in choosing what to order. Here's what we got:

✔ Rösti Classic with Sour Cream and Lemon Wedge (Php 160) - 11088110881108811088
This is a Swiss potato pancake; nothing too fancy as we ordered it with just sour cream and a lemon wedge, since we wanted to keep things simple and try this in its most classic form. We split this into three pieces, and is actually quite filling. I'm glad that the sour cream and lemon wedge made this dish such a delight to eat, as it added so much flavor depth to a simple potato pancake. This dish actually made me feel like I was eating PikNik because of its texture. 128514

✔ Thank God It's Fried (TGIF) Chicken (Php 345) - 1108811088110881108811088
This came with 4 pieces of fried chicken, paprika gravy, a slice of their hausmade banana bread, and potato fries and chips on the side. The server actually told us this was a solo serving, so we were pleasantly surprised by the serving size which is not bad for its price. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and more importantly, its skin was crispy and not too oily. Their gravy tasted great, though not as smooth as I wanted it to be. The banana bread was really good and moist, and I actually hoped they served a bigger piece. 128584 The fries and chips paired well with the chicken, and had a generous serving size. This was my favorite dish for this visit, because it's so sulit for its price and the components matched well with each other. If you want a bigger serving of this, you may opt for the TGIF Picnic Tray (Php 565), which they say is good for 2-3 persons but I'm sure it can serve more than that. 128513

✔ Quattro Spätzle (Php 495) - 11088110881108811088
Of course, we wouldn't miss ordering the dish for this restaurant's namesake. This sampler set good for 3-4 people, consisted of four flavors: bolognese, truffle mushroom cream, carbonara and pesto; and comes with some crunchy and addicting bread sticks. Surprisingly, while I'm not a fan of carbonara, their version actually made me change my mind; thus, became my favorite flavor for this sampler. It had a creamy taste that's not too nakakaumay, especially since the sauce is just evenly coated on the pasta surface, which I think is the right amount compared to pasta swimming in the sauce. The truffle mushroom cream was also nice, but I'm usually having a hard time consuming truffle dishes since the flavor is usually too overpowering. True enough, this flavor overpowered both the bolognese (which I found to have an off-taste I cannot explain), and pesto (which was just a so-so flavor for me). 128542 This dish might seem to have a small serving size, but do not underestimate the spätzle -- it's super filling! Make sure to eat this while it's hot, as it can get super nakakaumay when it gets cold (and it does get cold easily bexause of the serving plate).

It was unfortunate that we were so full already, and our tummies cannot accommodate any dessert!!! 128557 I really wanted to try that Frozen Brazo de Mercedes, though. Maybe next time!

Service was generally good, though some of the servers looked a bit bored, maybe because it's not yet the peak hours for them.

Overall, Spätzle serves good food with affordable prices. It just seems intimidating as one would think that their food are pricey, but the quality and serving size are very sulit. Our bill was at Php 1100 (including service charge), just ~Php 370 per person. Good value for money, considering how full we were after this meal. 128522

Tip: Make sure to come with an empty tummy, because the dishes here are generally filling! 128055

I initially wanted coffee but got intrigued about Sea Breeze. This cranberry drink is really good! I wish the serving was bigger though haha. Anyway, the Fondu Chocolat Tasse is also yummy - perfect for dessert! 128523128076🏻127865127851

Came here for dessert ungortunately those desserts that we wanted to try were "out of stock" (???). These were Choco Fondue and Chocolate drink.

We settled with Frozen Brazo and the Dessert sampler, and coffee.

The desserts are reasonably priced and yummy.

Ambience is quiet and cozy. It is perfect for titas bonding 128514, date or meeting. For my group of friends, the outside seating is perfect since we have kids in tow.

We'll be back to try the other desserts and the main courses too.

I was so scared that the Halloween traffic might be crazy given that some people will be going to their provinces but I was surprised that there were only a few cars on the road come 6 p.m.. However, my friends were late and I was already “hangry”.

After several exchanges on where to eat, I finally decided that I’ll stay in Spätzle. No more moving. I was tired, hungry, and grumpy. Yes, I have reached the bratty foodie stage.

K and E were game to eat there though as they have never visited Spätzle Euro Market Café.

After a few minutes, K finally arrived and we hurriedly ordered the following: Paprika Potato Chips (PHP145), Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Roesti (PHP320), The Spätz Burger (PHP355), Frozen Brazo de Mercedes (PHP230) and Watermelon Slush (PHP105).

My drink arrived first and it was refreshing. I loooove watermelon!

The potatochips were delightful as well. It was slightly zesty making it different from the usual chips. It helped keep us sane while waiting for our mains.

When my order arrived, I realized that I was too impulsive. I just ordered a potato madness dinner. I ordered the salmon dish simply because it says “salmon”.

It was still a great order though. I loved the soft smoked salmon covered with the tangy cream cheese and it was a great contrast with the crunchy potatoes. It was also served with an egg.

K loved his burger as well. Well, you could never go wrong with a USDA burger. It went with a warm brioche, pesto cream cheese, mushrooms and crispy onions on top.

E, who arrived late, ordered a plate of fried chicken which looked heavenly as well.

Now for dessert…

IT WAS THE BEST FROZEN BRAZO DE MERCEDES I HAVE TRIED. I loved the soft and crunchy textures and the delightful slightly frozen custard. I will order this again.

It was another pleasant dinner at Spätzle Euro Market Café. I will definitely be back soon to bring my sister to try the Frozen Brazo de Mercedes.

I love it whenever I get a chance to have a dinner date with my friends. It’s nice to break the routine once in a while. Hours of sharing what’s happening with one’s life to reminiscing the good ‘ol past could sure brighten one’s day (and even more). I just hope that Shangri-La brings in new restaurants as I have tried all of the restaurants already! But of course, there are the “favorite” spots and I dined in one with my favorite dragon lady.

Hello again, Spätzle Euro Market Café!

We decided to dine at Spätzle given T never visited it yet. It has been a while since my last visit but I really enjoyed the food there. I remember having that smoked salmon benny which was spectacular. I fell in love with the slightly breaded soft boiled egg. (Okay, just remembering it makes me drool.) Anyway, T and I decided to have a date after work since it has been a few weeks since we last saw each other. Plus, we had so many stories to share to each other. (Clingy friends.)

It was a breeze for us to decide on what to order because we were both hungry and every second counts!

We went for the following: Roasted Creamy Tomato Soup (PHP220), Monte Blanc Pizza (PHP325), and Roasted Chicken Sausage (PHP295). As for the drinks, we got Spätz All Natural Caffeine-free Iced Tea (PHP98) and Haus Iced Tea (PHP90).

First served was our soup. We asked to have it split into two and it was plated in a charming manner.

The soup sure was flavorful and it was indeed creamy. It was slightly tangy (plus the bacon bits were just too delectable) and it wasn't to heavy though making it a great appetizer.

The Monte Blanc pizza, which was topped with panchetta (Italian bacon), spinach, mushroom and cream sauce, and spiced potato chips, was really delicious. It was a great balance of salty and tangy flavors. The spinach also offset the saltiness of the bacon and cheese. I ate the chips separately though.

T's roasted chicken sausage wasn't new to me though as my mom ordered it before and I didn't like it then. Surprisingly though, giving a dish another try would be a pleasant surprise. This time around, I enjoyed it. Perhaps because it somehow compliments the pizza.

As for our drinks, these were better choices than the last ones I ordered. My drink was nothing superb but definitely refreshing.

I can't wait to try the other pizza flavors soon!

It has been my goal to visit all the restaurants I see. Thus, I’m in food heaven every time I get to pass by an area filled with restaurants I have never seen before. True, my wallet will be screaming for help (and perhaps my tummy at some point will too) but I just love the feeling of discovering new food, new tastes, new love.

I still remember the first time I saw Spätzle Euro Market Café in 2013. I planned to dine there several times but the people I was with always want something else. But thankfully, I was able to convince my mom one day to dine there.

Hello, Spätzle Euro Market Café!

We easily got a table but after a few minutes, we noticed that there was a line outside waiting to get seated.

The menu is quite simple and I easily ordered Smoked Salmon Benny (PHP350) simply because of one word… “salmon”. My mom on the other hand ordered the Roasted Chicken Sausage (PHP295). We also ordered a glass of All Natural Citrus Cooler Soda (PHP145) and Watermelon Slush (PHP105). For dessert, the Zucchini Cream Cheese (PHP110) caught my eye.

First served were our drinks and I knew it! I didn’t like my drink. I was hesitant when I read sparkling water. I am not fond of sparkling water and combining it with mint leaves and citrus fruits with honey made me cringe a bit. But since I was told that it’s one of their bestsellers, I decided to give it a try. At least now I know the taste and that I won’t order it again.

As for the watermelon slush, it was your typical watermelon shake though there was this after taste I just can’t describe. One thing’s for sure though, it was bit pricey for the serving.

My mom’s sausage dish was served next.

I’m not sure if I was just too excited for my salmon but I didn’t like her dish. It had this cloying taste. The chicken though was cooked well and the gravy wasn’t salty at all. I guess it simply wasn’t the dish I was craving for that night.

It took over 30 minutes to serve my food and we had to follow up thrice but upon serving my smoked salmon benny, I realized one thing… it was worth the wait.

The fragrant smell of toasted brioche bread, the chewy mushrooms, the soft salmon, the tangy salad dressing and that oh so lovely soft boiled egg wrapped in crunchy bread crumbs… a taste of heaven! I enjoyed every bite. And I can’t wait to have more of that.

Now for desserts...

Zucchini isn’t really something that would come to mind when I think of dessert, let alone cake. But since it was something weird and I just love anything weird, despite my mom’s (also) weird looks, I gave it a try.

The texture reminded me of carrot cake. Actually, it tasted somehow like carrot cake. I could hardly taste the zucchini. I guess the creamcheese’s taste was too overpowering. But I enjoyed it a lot.

I’ll definitely visit Spätzle again but I’ll probably ask for house water next time.

Place looks mice he plating is good but the taste of the food is so so.

We ordered the 4 types of pasta plate. Except for the truffle pasta the others (carbonara, pesto and bolognese) was lacking in flavor. The bacon mozarella logs were also not that impressive. The saving grace was the chicken. Crispy on the outside, tender and tasty inside. I also liked the banana bread that was served with the chicken.

Overall I would say that its pwede na.

I was on leave yesterday to meet two of my closest high school friends. We decided to try Spatzle at Shangrila Plaza Mall. Cute interiors welcomed us.

The menu is quite extensive ranging from pizza to pasta to risotto to burger to steak. They also have a huge selection of drinks.

I ordered Pizza Sicilia (Shrimps and Arugula) 495php. It's not the pizza I would crave as it lacked something but adding hot sauce can improve its taste. I also had Aglio Olio Spaghetti. Not surprising as I love oil-based pasta. 128541 It was okay. It was flavorful.

My friends ordered their Spatzle burger. I haven't had the chance to taste this tho but the chips on the side were too crispy. They also ordered Risotto Con Maiale - 445php. It's crisp pork belly with blanched asparagus on a bed of creamy truffle risotto. I must say, this is the bomb. Very tasty, and really generous serving of rice. Finally, we also had Roast Chicken Sausage in Mushroom Spätzle. PG levels, eh? Haha anyway, this is not "photogenic" so I don't have a picture but I liked the taste of the sausage. You can pair this with rice if you want.

P.S. They also serve beers and wines. They also have specialty drinks aside from their coffees and teas.

P.S.S. They have hand sanitizer on the table! Well, to ensure your hands are clean before eating (attacking 128586) the food. 128517128584128514

Spätzle is a kind of soft egg noodle. I never knew until I tried it earlier. We got the spätzle carbonara and the TGIF (Thank God It's Fried Chicken) platter which consisted of boneless fried chicken, banana bread, fries and cassava chips.

Spätzle carbonara 11088110881108811088
Classic Italian carbonara using egg yolk so it wasn't the sauce-y kind, which I liked. The texture and consistency was cheesy and egg-y and it was sooo good! Best paired with...

TGIF platter 11088110881108811088
It says on the menu that it's good for 2-3 pax and I think they were wrong. Serving is actually big enough for 3-4 pax. Chicken had crunchy skin but soft and tender meat. Cooked perfectly that when you cut into it the juices ooze out.

Watermelon slush 11088110881108811088
Right sweetness for your watermelon shake

All Natural Citrus cooler but made with flat instead of soda water 1108811088110881108811088
A very refreshing drink perfect on a hot day like today

Early dinner with my ever reliable and loving friends on Valentine's day! Well, we always wanted a place where we can chit chat aside from enjoying good food.

We have been eyeing this food place in Eastwing in Shangri-La. And Feb 14 is exactly the right day. Spatzle (pronounce as 'sphet-sle') is located at small corner of 5th floor. It was designed in black and white with quirky furnitures.

We had Spatz House Salad ( mix mesclun green topped with crispy cheese, green apples, italian sausage crumble in honey orange dressing), it was ok, the cheese doesnt taste like cheese.. Nothing spectacular.

Spatzle carbonara.. tasted good it has egg and cream based sauce and crispy bacon on top.. And yes, we loved it!

And lastly, we had Atisan Sausage Platter. It is served with 3 different flavored sausages + fries, loved the grated fried garlic on top. This is a must try.

The food is ok, however, service is kinda slow that you always have to follw up.

Customer Service does make the difference between a 4 and a 5-star restaurant experience!

We ordered Classic Rosti, Spatz Fried Chicken with Paprika Gravy and Mahi-mahi dish. When Mark O and I were already halfway on both dishes (already quite full), the manager (I think) informed us that she cannot serve the fish up to quality and asked us if we want to change our order instead. Since we can't eat any further, I ordered Watermelon Slush instead.
After a few moments, a server came and gave us mini red velvet cake, courtesy of the manager. Wow! I appreciate the honesty and didn't expect a token, but receiving one was definitely icing on the cake 128077🏻9786️ and the cake was really yummy too!

Kudos to the manager for handling the mishap well. It wasn't so bad actually but I appreciate the extra effort 10084

Btw, i forgot to mention that the chicken was really delicious and well-seasoned. It was boneless as well!

The food is quite good here. The service could be improved. It seems the servers are more concerned in aligning tables instead of serving customers. I sat down, no one approached to take my order until I called their attention.

Friend told me that I need to try Spätzle Euro Market Cafe. Now for the hard truth. I ordered the following items which they highly recommend. For starters I had bread plate trio, homemade chicken liver pate, tomato salsa, humus served w assorted breads. Spätz crispy apples, lighted breaded sliced apples topped with crispy onions served with mayo mustard. In their specialty mains, I tried their roast chicken sausage in mushroom spätzle, half roasted chicken roulade stuffed with homemade sausage in a bed of spätzle and mushroom gravy. Spätz fish and chips battered fillet fish sever with fries and caper mayo. Lastly for the dessert, a slice of frozen brazo de mercedez. Overall experience, honestly not so good. Food arrived late and I had to keep calling the server to follow up on my food. With regards to the fast of the items that I ordered.... Nothin special.... If you will ask me I will not go back to this restaurant.

First time at Spatzle and they had an interesting selection. Decided to go with the La Mancha, Sausage Platter and the trio of cakes.

The La Mancha was too oily and too garlicky for me. I usually like strong garlic flavors but this didn't work for me, I wasn't too keen on the Spatzle too. My
mom loved the dish though so it just wasn't for me.

They served us three huge sausages and mustard. The fries that came with the dish were pretty good but the sausages were all amazing even without the mustard.

The cakes were great, the zucchini cake reminded me of carrot cake, the red velvet was your typical red velvet but the icing was amazing. The best of the three however was the chocolate, ice cream cake-like one whose name escapes me. It was just so smooth, chocolatey and refreshing that I'd order a trio just of that cake.

I just love their food! :)

Ordered La Mancha for me and it was so delicious that I have to order again for take out. The taste is just right, I like that it's sweet&spicy that you'd be wanting to eat more and more of it. Ordered other dishes too that I like but I forgot the names. Sorry. One was a dish with gnocchi as well and mahi mahi.

For the drinks? I just fell in loveeeeee with their Citrus Cooler. SO REFRESHING! No wonder it's their best seller.

I'll definitely go back to try their other dishes especially I heard that they have good sausages too..... And the good news?? it's organic! :)
