‪We went to D'Mall in Station 2 to have dinner in one of the famous chicken place in Boracay called Spice Bird. I've heard so much about this place that served Piri-piri Chicken with different sauces.‬

‪The Place‬

‪You will never missed Spice Bird in D' Mall Station 2. Though it is not big (I think at least 20 customers inside) but it's bright. And with beautiful signage that uses bulbs. It has a red and yellow colors that will gives the customers a warmth feel of the chicken place.‬

‪The Food‬

127831 Crispy Fried Chicken Skin for Php95.00 - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5‬
‪"The chicken skin was dressed with Spice Bird Piri-piri Sauce. Honestly, I want some vinegar here, though the dressing was alittle bit sour."‬

127831Piri-piri Chicken Board for Php295.00 - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5‬
‪"The chicken board consists of 1/4 Piri-piri Chicken, Spice Rice, Side Salad, Milky Roll, Veggie Chips. The best thing with the dish, it was marinated 24 hours and the sauces were really good. You need to pair the sauces to enhance the flavor of the chicken."‬

127831Sisig for Php225.00 - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5‬
‪"It was served on a hot sizzling plate. Well, it taste good but not that good. I still want the mixture of liquid seasoning and calamansi compare the sauces of Spice Bird for my sisig.‬

‪Sauces: Original, Hot, Lime and Garlic, Curry‬

‪The Service‬

‪Spice Bird's staff provided excellent service during our dinner.‬

It has been a long while since I’ve visited Boracay and my last one was a mere 22 hour trip. Yes, it wasn’t even a whole day. Anyway, this time around, I decided to stay a bit longer, not to bask under the sun but to feast. After all, aside from the fine white sand, Boracay is known for its wide variety of restaurants and good food. And as soon as we checked in, first stop was... Spice Bird.

Hello, Spice Bird!

It would be easy to miss out Spice Bird if you don’t look for it. Located behind the ferris wheel of the famous D’Mall Plaza, Spice Bird’s location is not exactly a great one but its strong following still makes this restaurant a hot spot for foodies.

The adorable restaurant is one of the few with A/C perfect for those who want or have to escape from the heat wave. The left side of the restaurant has a huge mirror that runs to the other end and has quotes from numerous reviews by reputable sites and publications.

As a first timer, I relied on the server to recommend what to order and she suggested that we try either Piri-Piri Chicken Board (PHP295, 1/4 chicken | PHP495, 1/2 chicken) or Piri -Piri Pork Board (PHP320, pork belly | PHP275, pork chops). We went with the latter and chose pork belly. We also ordered Pulpo Salad (PHP195), Mango and Mint Shake (PHP120) and Homemade Calamansi Cheesecake (PHP245).

Service was quick and my drink was served in less than 5 minutes!

The Mango and Mint shake was absolutely divine. I love how mint made your usual mango shake so refreshing. The best part was that the glass was filled to the rim and it made me feel that I got my money’s worth.

The pulpo salad was also something else.

The texture of the octopus down to the vinaigrette dressing mixed with Spice Bird’s signature Piri-Piri sauce was scrumptious!

I loved how fresh the octopus and tomatoes were. It went beautifully well with the mildly spiced dressing. And it was actually quite filling.

I was slightly worried that the Piri-Piri pork board would be too small for R and I but I was surprised when it was served to us. The size was actually good for sharing.

The succulent pork belly was so soft that I didn’t even have to exert effort in slicing it. It was also wonderfully marinated that it could be enjoyed as is with the delectable dirty rice. But since we were there for a Piri-Piri experience, we tried all the sauces.

Spice Bird offers four sauces namely, Piri-Piri, Garlic and Lime, Hot Bird and Curry Curry. My favorites were Piri-Piri and Garlic and Lime.

After struggling to clean our board clean, we got our dessert tummies ready to feast on the calamansi cheesecake. (I’m not so sure why calamansi is popular in Boracay but hey, calamansi is great!)

I was excited to try this dessert as it had ice cream on top. But I realized that it was not vanilla ice cream at all when it didn’t even melt a bit after minutes of being in front of the camera. Apparently, it was cream.

The calamansi taste was very strong in this dessert and foodies who are not into tangy dishes would not appreciate this. Though I am a sour candy fan, I didn’t go crazy either as the taste was just too strong and cloying. I guess when they said “good for sharing” it should really be shared as a few spoonfuls would have been more than enough to cap the meal.

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience and I still find myself wishing that Spice Bird will fly to Manila.

We went to lunch at Spice Bird. Little cozy place in D’Mall where I had the best piri-piri chicken I have ever had in my life! And I’ve had Nando’s. LOL. Seriously! Very delicious. The meat of the chicken was very flavorful and the sauces were damn good! It was amazing I’m telling you! Amazing! I would definitely have hit this place early on if I had known it was going this be extremely delicious!

I wish looloo had the option to give ten stars. LOL

Tried the Double Happiness Sundae today. Masarap hindi siya nakakaumay unlike other sundaes. The sweetness is just right. Looking forward to try other cuisines they are serving. :)

This is a long overdue review.

“PIRI-PIRI,” “PERI-PERI,” or “Bird's Eye” is a the name of a bad-ass little chili from Africa that brings explosive flavor to every dish it touches. Out of this, the Portuguese made a fiery sauce that is so good that it has travelled continents.

Spice Bird is part of the Sunny Side Cafe group located in the heart of D'mall. The store is small but it is easy to spot on among the others with it's modern and vibrant interiors.

How to get to Spice Bird?

Go to D'Mall (Budget Mart) and walk along D'Mall Avenue towards the beach. After the small Rotunda, turn right. Spicebird is between Wokeria and Aquaventure behind the Ferris Wheel.

It was our first night when we were in Boracay last July 2016. We can't decide where to eat, we ended up here at Spice Bird. We were seated by the side where this cool Spice Bird sign with lights on it.

We ordered two Piri-piri Chicken Board and 1 Piri-piri Pork Board. The meal includes milky roll, veggie chips, spice rice and side salad. The serving was big but we still managed to finish it because we were really hungry because we got tired from our previous activities earlier that day. The piri-piri dressed chicken and pork were really delicious. What it made more fun and exciting dining experience was the 4 different sauces placed on each table - Piri-piri Sauce, Garlic & Lime, Salsa Verde and Hotbird Sauce. My personal favorites were the Piri Piri and Garlic & Lime Sauces but during the entire dinner, I kept on putting different sauces on each bite. You can mix it too depends on your taste. The price ranges from 300-500 but it's worth it. Service was great.

They also offer Craft Beers, Bottled Cocktails, Shakes and Desserts but I find it too pricey.

Definitely a must try. Spicebird was listed as top 3 restaurant at Tripadvisor and Sunny Side Cafe as number 1.128076

Finally, I got to dine here in Spicebird! Woohoo! 128568 I couldn't agree more on what Anton Diaz said about this place, "Worth a visit to Boracay for." It indeed was for me! 128571

We had lunch here and we just got the last available table inside. Lucky! It was scorching hot outside so I really didn't want to go for their alfresco dining. It probably would be nice for evening though.

For starters, we had the Piri-Piri Chicken Skin. The chicken skin were deep fried to perfection, crispy and flavorful and sinfully good! I could enjoy this with a cup of rice too. It was already smothered with their signature sauce but it also came with an extra saucer so you could mix your own too. I enjoyed mixing their sauces and coming up with the flavor I really wanted. I even asked for some sugar because I think it just needed a tad sweetness. But don't get me wrong, it's still awesome as it is! 128571

For mains, my friend had their Piri-Piri Cubano sandwich which tasted great too. It looked small but don't be fooled because it can actually fill the empty stomach! 128568

As for me, I had the Piri-Piri Chicken Board. Before ordering, I asked the lady which of the two proteins was better and between pork or chicken she recommended the chicken, so I took her word for it. I really loved their chicken, but on the table right next to us they ordered the pork and they loudly expressed how much the pork was amazingly tender and awesome! 128576 I guess this only means I'll be back here for a other meal next time! The flavor of the chicken was spot on, and it was perfectly tender, falling off the bone and all. The rice, chips and salad that even came with it was great! They complemented the meat really well.

I definitely recommend this place to those not just seeking for adventure in Boracay, but also wanting to go on food trips. I look forward to coming back, and I would wanna try dining on their other restaurants too including The Sunny Side Cafe! 128568

Tried out their Piri Piri Chicken. Nothing special though. Chicken was kinda dry. The sauces though, thats what makes you want to finish the chicken. Iced tea was good, you can distinctly taste the honey and calamansi in the drink, but then again nothing really special. You can try it out though, just for the sake of trying out the sauces. 128522

The last time i went to Boracay was eons ago.  I ain't updated with the foodie destinations in the island.  Thanks to Supermanly Eats,  i got acquainted to the the joint that's responsible for destroying bikini bods -  the culprit is none other than Spicebird.

They specialize in Peri-Peri Chicken.  I know chicken,  the rest sounds foreign to me.  Wikipedia to the rescue. I'm

Piri Piri is a Swahili word for the incendiary red peppers of Africa — primarily those of Angola and Mozambique, former Portuguese colonies. Because of the seafaring nature of the Portuguese, it didn't take long for these bite-size pods of fire to make their way to Lisbon aboard spice ships returning from the East.

Now,  piri piri chicken.  Some say,  this dish is of Mozambique descent with heavy influences of the Portuguese.  The chillies is from the former and the cooking technique is from the latter.  We can call this a hybrid then.

And yes,  this is my first time to try piri piri chicken - it's love at first bite.  The chicken is cooked perfectly,  moist in the inside and bursting with flavors.  Sweet,  spicy,  sour and savory.   Dem wings are flavorful,  addicting and a steal at php 200.

Spicebird needs to do every foodie a favor and open a branch in Manila!  I don't mind the extra pounds.  I swear!

Yummy peri-peri chicken!

The chicken was flavorful on its own; But they will give you 4 choices of sauce. My favorites were the piri-piri sauce and the garlic & lime. It complemented the chicken well.

The place is a bit small so better go there either around 11am or 130PM for lunch because it gets full during lunch time.

Pretty good. Something new to try at D'mall. Place is small so get there early. We loved the bread that came with the meal. Chicken was good. We'd definitely go back.

First read about Spice Bird a few months ago from pepper.ph. They were raving about this new periperi chicken in boracay. So I look up looloo and also found some great review. That's why this was included on our checklist of places to in eat in the island.
SpiceBird is the latest resto by the same people behind Sunny Side Cafe that has the huge pancakes. The resto is located inside D'Mall. Upon entering the spicebird logo that would remind you of peperoni "All We Knead is Love" logo will greet you. At first I was laughing why their PeriPeri is spelled PiriPiri. I thought it was just a mistake on spelling but after researching Piri Piri is the correct spelling of the famous African birds eye chili. :)
We ordered of course their main dish the PiriPiri Chicken. It was delicious and tasted even better when mixed with both the PiriPiri and Hot Sauce. The chips included was a little bit salty. The Milky Roll was so good! The grilled porkchop that we also order was very tasty. Actually I love this more than the chicken. The grilled chops was packed of flavors. This one is also tasted great with any of the four sauce but for me it tasted best with the salsa verde.

Overall another new must visit resto in boracay. :)

So happy to have stumbled upon this place! And at the right time, too! We were so hungry from traveling and we couldn't have had a better lunch than with Spicebird. Good food in huge servings, and just around P250.00!

Their piri-piri chicken might just have taken the top spot! Roasted perfectly, it was so tender and juicy and flavorful.

It's also worth mentioning that their staff was so attentive and friendly while they take our orders and refill our glasses.

Will definitely come back!

Located in D'mall boracay. First time to eat a really good pulled pork sandwich. Quite similar to what I saw Adam richman ate. Peri peri chicken was also very delicious. Perfect charcoaled tender chicken. The sauce selection also killed it. You can make your own mix. My fav though is the garlic plus the hot spicy sauce. Ambiance was also very nice with guardians of the galaxy soundtrack as your back ground. Price for both combined is about 450-500 :) will definitely come back :)
