I love Spiral!

Spiral features 21 ateliers at Sofitel Philippine Plaza. Expensive? Yes, it is! But I told myself that I don't have to travel the world to experience renowned cuisines. So, makakatipid ako. I don't have to buy plane tickets and book hotel accommodations.

Everything that I ate were delicious. I just wish I can eat here everyday to try everything. They have a ridiculous wide array of food and I can't pick my favorite because it's all 10084๏ธ.

The luxurious ambience and the smiling and friendly staff made my dining experience perfect.

I will surely go back no matter how much!

You can never go wrong with this buffet. They can satisfy your different cravings with only the best! We were able to catch the Chinese New Year festivities. It was a superb spread (as usual). We got our plump hakaws, prime cuts, fresh seafood, among others. Don't miss the cheese room!

I never thought buffet could be enjoyable, until I finally tried Spiral. 10084

Yes, it's really expensive but I must admit that your dining experience will all be worth it. At first, I had all the doubts and curiosity for this place if it could fit to its cost, the fact that I am the type of person who is always after quality food with good value for money.

I have observed 3 distinct qualities for this place - superb food selection, quality food (fine dining level) and classy ambiance, which will all define your dining experience. It's a fine dining buffet. You just need to think thoroughly about the food that you will taste and indulge with, which might be confusing. But I guess, the trick is to choose the food which you don't get to taste often. The selection on steak, oysters, salmon, and cheese will already fair. 128522 And oh, I forgot to take photos of my food, proof that I really enjoyed them and the moment spent. 128077๐Ÿป128077๐Ÿป

Sofitel's Spiral buffet is by far the best buffet here in the Philippines. They have a wide variety of sumptous international dishes all part of their famous 21 ateliers.

It was difficult where to begin this food adventure but below would be some of the highlights of the night.

-Their pasta station which served the best carbonara i've tasted in my life. Buttery and yet cheesy, all works for my taste buds.

-Dimsum station serving my favorite siomai and siopao. But i do love their mochi wrapped in banana leaf. It was a piece of heaven in my mouth.

-Seafood station with fresh salmon, tuna, local lobsters, shrimps, oysters and clams. You really can't go wrong here unless you have an allergy. I must say that their prawns and clams comes in big portions.

-I love their cheese room. I can't remember all the names of different cheeses I ate but it was all worth it. Best paired with cold cuts advised by the server inside the cheese room.

-Japanese station has some cool artwork of Bulbasaur made into an open faced maki.

-Have I mentioned unlimited serving of their artisanal foie gras and duck confit?

-Bread and pastry station served the warmest and softest loaf with some melting pesto butter all perfect to match the complementary green tea.

-My favorite station is their Chocolatier. They make their own different kinds of chocolate which they served in a wooden drawer.

-Their dessert station is just one of a kind showcasing an amazing three towered fountains for your fondue. Chocolate, white chocolate and matcha fountain all ready for you to enjoy.

There are so many things you just need to experience here in Spiral. From 6:30pm to 10:30pm you enjoy their atelier worth visiting.

Spiral has an impressive set up with endless food options. I knew very well that I wouldn't be able to sample everything so I took my time and surveyed all of the stations.

Things you should try
- the cheese room, the server was very knowledgeable and helped me with my choices. I loved the triple cream cheese and the meats she recommended. That serving plate/chopping board was adorable. It can be intimidating to step in but it was well worth it.
- shrimp cocktail, fresh shrimp with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. Loved this so much that I helped myself to a second shot glass.
- ceviche, just the right acidity but would have preferred a smaller portion
- the round appetizer near the sushi that looks like a cake, the cream cheese and the orange bits tasted so good. Not sure if that was salmon or fish eggs.
- Japanese fried rice, loved that it had salmon pieces
- caramel macchiato cake, for coffee lovers. One layer has a gelatinous feel which was a bit weird but kinda worked.
- chocolate soul - rich chocolate layers but I don't like nuts.
- that chocolate with marshmallows and crunchy stuff in the chest drawers, So addicting.

There were a lot of other dishes that I tried but didn't really make a mark. The buffet areas didn't feel crowded. The dishes were plated nicely. Some were too far to reach though and I had to stand on tiptoes.

We went on a weekday for lunch. There were times that the servers were very attentive and cleared our plates right away but there were instances that the table was filling up with plates that needed to be bussed out.

I would love to come back for the things I wasn't able to taste and for that cheese room.

Breakfast Buffet
Definitely not for the weak stomach, unless you can eat a plate of different cheese to have your 1843pesos worth it. They have filipino, chinese, thai, indian, european, and japanese cuisine. Plus, the cheese room, the fruits, salad, the different juice and smoothies (i think there were about 8 different choices). There were also a pancake station, waffle station and 2-3 egg stations (one on the japanese area, one on the italian cuisine and another beside the indian cuisine).

imho, it isn't worth it if you are a minimim wage earner & you have to pay the full amount of 1843pesos. There were 2 of us when we ate there and we had a membership card, so 50% discount. Our total bill was 1000pesos each which was worth it

In my recent stay in Sofitel Philippine Plaza, I wanted to write a separate review for the breakfast buffet experience in Spiral. I've dined here before but mostly for lunch or dinner and it has always been an awesome smorgasbord experience. 128568 But their breakfast buffet was different from other hotel buffet breakfasts I've had too. 128571

The all day dining restaurant was huge! This may very well be on the top of my list of the biggest breakfast buffet spreads. They had dishes from every cuisine! I saw they had separate stations for Chinese, Japanese, Indian, American, Italian, French and of course, Filipino! 128588๐Ÿผ There were live stations here in there. They had two omelette stations, one vegetarian for those with special dietary restrictions. 128077๐Ÿผ

Taste-wise, their food is really good. Cold food were served cold and hot food were served hot. Their food handling procedures are definitely on point. I particularly liked the Tapa from the Filipino Station. I'll always be a Silog baby. 128569 And their bacon was thin and crispy, just the way I like it! 128571 And they even had Taho! Complete with manlalako! 128569 Naloka ko, I got so excited about it! I thought he was gonna scream "Tahooo!" but sadly he didn't. 128569 He was such a conversation item, though. I think this is a very nice Pinoy touch and it added to the whole breakfast experience! 128568

The service was absolutely excellent, and I expected nothing less. This place has been a household name for buffets in the metro so I'd expect that their people contributes to that experience. They were very anticipating to guests' needs! 128568

I hope I can come back soon! 128571

Nothing beats Spiral. Been here several times and still looking forward into my next visits. The grandeur of the place, the variety of food selection, accommodating staff and a lot more that you can think of a superb dining experience! Worth the price, give it a try.

Another pigout dinner at Spiral for us (as mentioned by my sister, Bernisse C) for another sister's birthday celebration! 127881127874

I've mentioned their various stations in my previous review so I won't go through all of them again. 128514

My love for kimchi jjigae (stew) is always quenched whenever I dine here because they have this in their Korean station. They labeled it as soybean stew since there's no kimchi in the stew, but it's pretty spicy ๐ŸŒถ (That's what I'm after!!)

Their Korean dishes change pretty often but they have the basic side dishes available too, like kimchi! 10084๏ธ Tonight they had the cold kimchi, and a cooked kimchi dish as well.

They also have a variety of dimsum available, but at around 9:30PM their siomai ran out. 128532 So when one of my sisters wanted more, she didn't get to have any anymore.

I loved their sushi section for that night! Other than the regular salmon and tuna sashimi the maki rolls, they had chicken katsu temaki and a blowtorched salmon sushi drizzled with Japanese mayo. 128525 I hope they serve this always!!

They had something different today in the Japanese section: oden!! 128525 I'm a fan of Japanese food so I got a bowl hehe! 128541

The cheese and cold cuts station is one of my faves. I always get the brie! 128513 Plus some meat and eat it with the bread they place on the table at the very beginning. 128077๐Ÿผ

In the teppan station, it seems to expand every time I visit... before I remember they only had beef and shrimp. Now they have beef, porkloin, dory, shrimp and even cuttlefish! But I only got the beef and dory. 128541

In the pasta section, I wanted to get the truffle ravioli like during our last visit but they didn't have it anymore today. Instead they had a seafood ravioli which had salmon. The ravioli itself was okay, but their cream sauce was so salty! 128528 For the night, this was probably the biggest disappointment. 128546

For dessert, they have mini cakes, chocolate truffles, gummies, 3 chocolate fountains, fruits and Filipino faves like bibingka, halo-halo. 128077๐Ÿผ

You can also request for tea and coffee included in the buffet. 128077๐Ÿผ

Overall, the visit was great except for the salty pasta sauce. 128533 Still one of my favorite buffets!! 128525

It was my sister's 21st birthday last night and our family has this weird habit of always dining at buffets whenever our birthdays come up. But I'm not complaining because why should I? 128055 The last picture is our family photo. The birthday celebrant is the one wearing glasses. Unisse C and I stand beside our dad and the youngest in our family sits beside our celebrant.

I don't know where to begin with this review since this place has a very wide range of food selections. Spiral has 21 dining stations including Japanese, Thai, Filipino, Chinese, Korean, Indian, French, Seafood, Rotisserie, Pastries, Chocolatier, Italian, salad, cheese and deli, etc. For me, Spiral is one of the best buffets in the Philippines because of its wide food selections, ambiance, and service. I'll try to be as detailed as possible to give my honest review on this. I'll go through the stations as how you would eat a normal meal: appetizer, main, and dessert.

SALAD STATION 127813
Spiral offers a wide variety of salads. They have those ready made salads kept in small jars for your convenience or you can make your own with their fresh ingredients.

CHEESE AND DELI ๐Ÿง€
This cheese and deli room is heaven for most people. I've never seen so much cheese in my life! Name any cheese to the server inside and he probably has it somewhere inside that room. They also have lots of cured meet inside which I love combining with their cheese. If you're not a fan, you can also pair your cheeses with their jams. Let me tell you tho, the smell can be a little bit intimidating. 128586

SUSHI AND MAKI 127843
Because of a bad past experience with raw food, I don't usually eat sushi. But I decided to give it another try and the fresh salmon from Spiral did not disappoint. They also have fresh tuna for those who prefer it. Their sushi does not have that smelly taste but instead, was very fresh. They have this blow-torched salmon maki topped with Japanese mayo which was amazing. Loved it! But don't get too much of the maki because you can get filled up with rice.

CHINESE ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ
For Chinese, you can start with Dimsum. They're dimsum is pretty good but not the best. What I love here is their noodle 127836 and duck station. Customize your noodle soup with fresh egg noodles or sotanghon + fish balls and meat balls + veggies + laksa or chicken broth or both. My personal favorite is their laksa and I've never once not eat this when I visit spiral. The roasted duck wrap is actually something you can find at any Chinese restaurant but it's good for me.

JAPANESE ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต
I love their teppan station. I always get their beef while my sister loves their shrimp. The beef is really tender and the shrimp is very fresh. The can sometimes be skimpy with their butter sauce but when you personally ask the chef to add more, he'll be gladly to. Aside from teppan, they also have the usual tempura and katsu dishes. They also serve Japanese rice, miso soup and oden.

PASTA AND FOIE GRAS 10084๏ธ
This has to be my favorite station. They usually change their foie gras dishes every time i visit. But my favorite way to eat it is to have it pan seared and drizzled with their balsamic sauce served with diced peaches. (too bad I don't have a good photo of this128546) Because of this particular station, I feel that I get my money's worth for dining here. Their pasta can be bland sometimes but their raviolis are quite good so I suggest you get that instead.

FILIPINO and KOREAN ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท
These two stations, for me, are nothing special. I can get better quality dishes from other restaurants. They actually serve different dishes every time I visit so sometimes there are good ones and some just average.

ROTISSERIE
I used to love this station but when they took out the lamb chops, I had to say goodbye to it. Lamb shoulder is still available but I prefer lamb chops. They also have U.S. prime rib, roasted beef and other meat selections but I'm just not a fan of those cuts.

SEAFOOD ๐Ÿฆ€
Crab, shrimp, oysters, salmon, etc. You can request the chefs there to cook them according to your preference. But as far as the taste and selection goes for seafood, I won't recommend it too much. Fresh buffet of Solaire is so much better if it's seafood we're talking about.

DESSERT 127848127856127854127853127851127850
I love everything about their desserts. From the gummies to the pastries and truffles and cookies and chocolates and gelato. They also have filipino delicacies like halo halo and bibingka. My favorites are their macarons, gummies, halo halo, creme brรปlรฉe and gelato. The macarons and cookies run out way too fast so better grab some and reserve it on your table as soon as the buffet opens. 128521 I love their salted caramel gelato so much that I drank the melted portions as well. It's not too sweet because you can definitely taste that salty, bitter flavor that I really like. It has the right balance of salty and sweet. Most salted caramel ice creams/ gelato I've tried tasted like caramel only. Plus, their gelato are really light so having 3 scoops will not make you feel guilty. So this gets 5/5 for me 128149

For the service, the servers were attentive and friendly. The ambiance of this place was great too. It definitely has that candle light dinner feeling to it. I really do love this place 10084๏ธ

A tip when eating at buffets is to try those that you feel you would like in small quantities first so that you're sure not to waste any food or space in your tummy 128523

Aside from Shangri-la's Circles cafe, Spiral is one of my all time favorite! Loved it even more when they renovated.

Don't forget to visit they charcuterie section because theres definitely a wide selection of cheeses and meat there. The one who manages the section is very accommodating and well-knowledged about the cheeses.

Also, dont miss their foie gras!! You can either order it by plate for sharing or just get the prepared ones with canapes.

***Will always remember my experience there during this year's Valentines day! They served foie gras w/ mushroom ravioli and it was just too good. There were also escargots!

You're also lucky if they serve the sushis with pink toppings (don't know the name, but definitely good).

Dessert is always the best part of our meals!! Rum Baba is a must try (!!!!!!!!).

Service, as usual, is impeccable! Love love love this place. The only downside of it is the beef. Shangri-la serves a larger portion and meat is more tender. Although Spiral has a wider selection!

My older sister celebrated her birthday there. *Promo* birthday celebrants are free as long as they are with 3 full paying customers and they can avail it 3 days before and 3 days after their birthday.

There were various cuisines to choose from. They offer Japanese, French, Chinese, Italian and Filipino dishes. I might have forgotten the others because it was a bit overwhelming with an array of food selections. Not to mention almost all kinds of cheese and dried meat that goes well with their different kinds of wine.

I particularly died because of their chocolate booth. 128565 cause I'm a sucker for chocolates with nuts and they were serving it there. Yuum!!

We were all full and weren't able to eat dinner that day. 128514

THE BEST HOTEL BUFFET THERE IS IN MANILA!

Gosh will I ever get tired of Spirals? I guess not! Worth it for its price (PHP2,000+ I think? More or less.

Thank God for the cheese selection, ambiance plus the freshest Salmon Sashimi!

Worth the 1.5 hour drive! HA HA HA!

Nothing more to say about this place! Everyone already knows Spiral. Went here on a Monday lunch (for my bday celebration). Let me just share with you photos of what I ate and loooved and what to find in this buffet.

Just note that when you visit Spiral, try their steak (of course) and their cheeses (will come back for this. I wasn't able to try it but I heard it's good!). For dessert, I loved their hazelnut ball (check the photo. I ate a lot of those.)

Definitely coming back for more! You know, when my budget permits 128514

In terms of food choices, I don't think any hotel can match the enormous amount of food that Spiral has. They have rib eye, lobsters, caviar, and good chinese dishes on a Saturday lunch. No wonder they are always jam packed.

My only concern is that the service is not that good anymore. I felt that the chef was hesitant to cook the prawns and lobsters since they have the cooked portion. You're a 5 star hotel with the most expensive buffet rate. Show us 5 star service please.

Recently celebrated my sister's univ graduation here since we came from PICC, and Spirals definitely lived up to the hype! My favorites were the meats, the foie gras, and the noodles from the Chinese section. I also loved the desserts, especially the cookies! Was able to sneak some home 128514128514

Prices are really steep though, so maybe we'll go back on another really special occasion HAHA.

What greater way to spend time with family than in a buffet! 128061

We had our table booked for a celebratory dinner buffet for my family for my brother's graduation & Father's Day!

And of course, here's my appetizer plate with a generous amount of foie gras and a couple of other siders.

As always, main course dishes and desserts were delish!

Fathers were given a complimentary cakes (for members), and some vanity packs for Kiehl's. Good experience as always, Sofitel!

Fast forward to almost closing time, our tummies are on full tank and I just knew my family was happy - and that's what makes my heart flutter whenever I come home. 10084๏ธ

Cliche as it may sound, but I'm indeed #blessed. 128521
