Today, I had to wake up early to visit five old churches in Laguna to complete my historical site badge! I brought my mom with me since she loves going to churches and yeah it's mother's day! I figured we can just eat along the way to celebrate.

Let's start with St. John the Baptist Church!

It's situated in the barrio of Longos, Kalayaan which is in between the town of Paete and Lumban. I probably drove 30-minutes from our house to reach the church. I've been here way back 2001 and I remember being mesmerized by the church's facade.

The Franciscans built the church in 1669. Quite old like the rest of the churches in my province. The enigmatic stone facade was preserved but as what you can see on my picture, the roof was already made of steel trusses and GI roof.

There's a tarpaulin outside showing the proposed look of the church's new ceiling. I know it will look good again but nothing will compare to how I saw it before. My hope is for them to preserve the rest of the outer part of the church.

Off to the next church!
