St. Luke’s Medical Center Bonifacio Global City was my second home for several months last year. I still remember how much I rush to the hospital right after work while mustering all my strength to pull out a smile. It’s hard when a person you love dearly is fighting for her life every day and it seemed like it’s a losing battle.

But I’m thankful to the St. Luke’s BGC team for providing my grandmother the best care. They always come in with smiles on their faces trying to brighten us up. They distract my grandmother from her pain by asking her things unrelated to her illness. I felt assured too that the top doctors were assigned to her.

They were also very careful not to step on campers like us who’d spend the night to look after our dear grandmother. They also gave us extra blankets to make ourselves a bit more comfortable.

We were also near the pantry so we had easy access to the microwave and water. My mom, uncle and aunts would often bring food for the guardians to eat and we’d heat up the leftover for the next meal.

It may sound rather depressing to semi-live in a hospital but all I want to remember was that I was able to spend precious time with my grandmother, the person who took care of me for decades.

Oh, and thanks to the hospital’s fast internet, I get to keep my sanity by watching puppy and kitten videos.

Getting sick sucks and being seriously sick and far from your family sucks even more. I always fret the days when I eat too much to the point of having unbearable tummy ache. I have no choice but to pull myself together and head out to buy necessities like medicine and soft food to recover. I was starting to get used to it till one night when I had a scary situation.

The first thing that came to mind was to Google if it was a serious symptom and all results say that it is fatal. I then called St. Luke's BGC to verify and I was advised to go to the emergency room, ASAP. And so I did.

I got there in a couple of minutes and I was lined up for basic tests after 10-15 minutes. I managed to talk with a doctor in half an hour and was informed that I needed to undergo a few more tests and that I had to be monitored meaning I had to be admitted. 128561

Soon, I was given IV and had to wait for my room. It was probably the longest 2.5 hours of my life. It took ER to have my tests lined up and for my room to be arranged. (I was so worried that I called my mom and R to assist me. They both came and accompanied me to my last tests of the night and R spent the night with me.)

By 6 a.m., the nurse woke me up for my last test, endoscopy. I was brought to the test room via wheelchair and was assisted to the bed. My assigned doctors chatted with me for a bit and informed me of the next steps. After a while, anesthesiologist sprayed this nasty fluid inside my mouth and in less than 30 seconds, my throat became numb and I could not swallow at all. I panicked and that was all I could remember. I fell asleep! I woke up after over an hour and was already in the recovery room. That was fast. 128517

After a few more hours, we got the results and found out that my condition wasn't that serious and that I could head home that same day.

A nurse came to my room and pulled the needle out which hardly hurt. Great job! 128077🏻

Total damage was around PHP38,000 but it was worth it. The doctors here are the best! I just hope that they speed up the admission part.

I had my executive check up yesterday at St. Luke's BGC. It's really something, their Health & Wellness section. Lobby is nice, we'll decorated with panel frosted glass towards the main waiting area. While the waiting area reminds me of a nice hotel, with many booths, chairs and couches, two led tv's, lots of newspapers and magazines for people to chill. Going around you'll find occasional garden vestibule's around, too.

After your fasting tests, you can partake in a buffet, though the spread is simple and relatively healthier than normal buffers. 128516128514128521 well, d-uh. They have dedicated ultrasound rooms, x-ray, taking of blood, stress test, ECG, consultation, eye test, etc. Pretty good. The nurses are assigned to every patient and guide you from station to station.

Comparing the Health & Wellness here to The Medical City's, I like their facilities slightly better here at St. Luke's BGC, but I liked the general presence and consistency by the doctors in Medical City more. Here, only the eye doctor, Dr. Reyna, was most involved. The others were either almost absent or dependent on their nurses. -1 for that. It took me a while to be attended to at the beginning as well. But the facilities of this hospital are top of the line, at least based on what I've seen.

This hospital also has several restos downstairs like Bizu, Starbucks, Mary Grace. The lobby of the main hospital is very grand, with high ceilings, paintings & sculptures from both up and coming and prominent national artists, generous lobby chairs and couches. The adjacent Medical Arts Tower is also roomy, with enough elevators to avoid traffic. Well done, St. Luke's.

I really prefer going here if I need to have tests or check-ups done. Thank God for HMOs too! 128522

I had some blood tests and ECG done and surprisingly, I was able to undergo through the process fast. I was scheduled for blood test at 7am and they started on time. We arrived early at the ECG area and I was the first patient they attended to when they opened at 8am. 128077🏼

What I liked most was I didn't have to back for the results. They asked me to register online and I was able to view the results in 4-6 hours! 128079🏽

Was truly amazed at this high end hospital! Parang hotel lang... 128513

Very organized and quick in procedures. Reminded me when i got hospitalized in the states. Clean surroundings, attentive staff, roomy (di masikip at di super dami tao).

I had my lab tests (blood and urine), pap smear, ecg and x-ray done within 3 hours.

Since i fasted for more than 16 hours, i was so hungry. I was tempted to eat at bizu or mary grace afterwards at the ground floor. But super puno, daming tao sa area na yun. Decided to continue with my errands and eat somewhere else.

Everyone was so professional and friendly. I wouldn't mind being confined in a place like this (basta sagot ng maxicare! I am sure it is going to be expensive! Lol).

Had my Mom checked up last week here at St. Lukes.

I always love going here because the place is so relaxing. Nice hotel-like lobby and guest areas. Relaxing music on the piano by some dude. I could just lay there all day.

Aced my Executive Check-Up and I am none the worse for wear! I was in and out of the Executive Wellness Center in about 5 hours, thanks to the attentive care of Karl, my wellness assistant. St. Luke's certainly made the whole experience bearable by designing and running an efficient program. I almost did not run thru any queues. In fact, for the Fasting series, the waiting times at each station of the program was kept to 15 minutes max. This is where time mattered most because the patient had just come from a 10 to 14 hour fast.

Breakfast was waiting in the lounge after completion of the Fasting series. The spread was more than enough; vegetable lomi, fruits, bread, pastries, sandwiches, coffee, tea and juice.

Facilities were first class and both med staff and admin were friendly, courteous and attentive. The med technicians were cute too and certainly knew how to strike up small conversation (which helped pass the time away).

My only "complaint" was that the airconditioning was too cold for my blood, so I asked why. I was told that the equipment needed to be kept at a steady temperature and prevented from heating up.

I'm glad the office switched health providers. So happy with this, I'm looking forward to coming back next year and acing the tests again! 128516128516128516128516

Had my checked up ... was alone ... hard sometimes to be too independent ...we just hv to dig deeper ... nothing's impossible 128171

My driver drop me off at the main lobby & got me a wheelchair & theres a porter by the main door to
assist me immediately & bring me to the X-ray dept..wow!! nice hospital service, was really worried how I'll get around myself on my way here128012... Maybe I'll try using my disabled's charm?... Haha9786

X-ray dept...everyone's so friendly & accommodating ...I don't feel bad being alone at all. A random staff even asked me if I'm cold ... So much niceness & concern around. it's sure freezing in there

Then I ask help from the X-ray dept to bring me to my doctors clinic ... Who in turn was so surprised that I'm all alone .... Haha.... Seems like tough girls are not frequent around?!?

Docs so nice & gentle... Simply the best!! ... He was just waiting for me & already went tru my X-rays when I got to his clinic ...System's so efficient ... Everything went on smoothly ... I felt so well taken cared of... Then doc ask her very friendly & always smiling sec to bring me down the the mab lobby ... I told her it's okay to leave me alone while I'm waiting for my driver ... Whom I sent on a short errand while I was in the hospital... But she insisted on waiting with me coz I was the last patient anyways...

Bad days , struggling alone was a sunny one coz of all the caring people who went over & beyond.... Wish I can give them all 10011088128077127752

Being helpful & smiling at strangers might take a few minutes off ur ever busy day ....but it might just be a source of power & means so much for that person to keep on fighting inspite of adversity ... Thank u Lord for sending them all my way.... It's a lovely day & life is awesome after all.... I feel so blessed9786127752

Got myself checked up yesterday. Small world. The lady at the Medicard Office recognized my name and happened to be the wife of my HS Batchmate.

The thing I hate about consultations is finding out how much I have to spend on medication. 128561128546

The Nipple Wheelchair. 128514128514128514

They had this exhibit at the lobby and there were wheelchair designs. This was one of them.

St. Lukes wasted our time though. We went here last wednesday and they said my mom had UTI. Okay so they gave her meds. The pain didn't go away. So we went back on Sunday only to find out she had Kidney Stones.

I just hoped that they saw that earlier so that my mom didnt have to go through so much pain at home.

Rushed to St. Luke's after my Mom rushed herself to the hospital and the first thing she asked me to do was take a picture of her. *facepalm*.

I should really get keep her away from social media. Haha. Kidding.

St. Luke's was very quick today. Only a matter of more or less one and a half hours we were done and discharged.

I love how there aren't too many people even on weekends. Their hotel-like lobby makes hospital trips a little less disconcerting. The greeter even has a bellhop uniform on. 128522
