Dinner. Star Plaza is a well respected popular restaurant and hotel in Dagupan City. It has been one of the oldest existing hotels that up to this date is still well known and a go-to place in the city. It's Chinese cuisine is well revered by Filipino and Chinese citizens and our family has been eating and ordering there ever since! My grandfather used to know the owner as they are our neighbors and you know how it is in a small town when everyone knows everyone. But enough about that, let's talk about food. The taste never changed and the quality and serving is up to par no matter that there are a few other new restaurants to compete with. Here are our orders and favorites:

• Beef Broccoli •
The beef loins are so soft that it almost melts in your mouth and the vegetables are cooked perfectly. Not overcooked, not half cooked, but PERFECT

• Birthday noodles •
This is ordered in every Chinese birthday, but who cares if no one has a birthday today?? It has mixed seafood, mushrooms, veggies and quail eggs coated in a thick sauce.

• Buttered Chicken •
This is my first time having this here, it's alright, but if you really wanna try the best butter chicken, come to Good Taste Restaurant in Baguio. You can check my blog and album for the review and pictures.

• Hot Shrimp Salad •
The best hot shrimp salad I've ever tasted! And I have tasted a lot, believe me! There's nothing like Star Plaza's Hot shrimp salad!

The next best thing about these dishes is that you can order per size. They have small, medium and large depending on how many people are dining.

On top of that, they have ballrooms and karaoke rooms that have consumable amounts! Definitely a place for parties and occasions!

This will start my series of reviews for the weeklong road trip we did to the north.

It was a Dagupan - Ilocos Sur - Pagudpod - La Union trip, and I'll detail the experience with the places we stayed in, restaurants we ate at and the spots we saw.

First stop was Star Plaza in Dagupan. My sister lives in Dagupan hence we pass by here on trips to the north. We always make it a point to eat in Matutina's and Dagupeña in Dagupan, but we discovered the Chinese cooking style in Star Plaza and it was great!

Real authentic Lauriat in Dagupan thanks to it's Chinese owners. The crab steamed in garlic and butter was superb, the steamed lapu lapu in soy was good, so was the seaweed with century egg. Or perhaps I was blown away simply not expecting good Chinese food in the province.

Accommodations were ok, recently renovated with modern fixtures and pieces though the building itself is old already (think 80s) and the halls have that "old smell" already. But for 1750 for the modern room - you can't go wrong!

Will keep going back, if not for the affordable accommodations but for the food!

Stayed here for a night. Just a basic hotel. Don't expect much. I was able to sleep well, thats what's important anyways.
