Starbucks at Emerald Building in Ortigas has been our consistent tambayan whenever we are at the area. Last night was no exemption as we plan for our upcoming activity. I have not had dinner so I was deciding between getting coffee or tea. So I excused from the meeting went to the counter to place my order.

Contemplating if I will have my usual Iced Americano with shot of white mocha, on the rocks, or the peppermint tea. I chanced upon seeing Noah’s creative juices at the display counter. Got curious because of its nice packaging (bottle sya!) and the healthy feeling of getting a juice instead. So I gave in.

There were several flavors to choose from and I tried the Fresh Crushed Apple Juice. It’s tropical contents were from of 2 ½ crushed Australian apples.

Nutritional facts:
100% no concentrate
0% added sugar
0% artificial

I think this will soon become one of my Starbucks’ favorite especially that I’m trying my best to skip coffee nowadays. There are other flavors to choose from at P140 each. What could have made it better is if there is a lid to the bottle so you can re-use it.

Drinking healthy can this be fun too! So the next time that you visit your favorite Strabucks, have this on your mind and try it for yourself!

Sobrang namiss ko itong branch na ito. As in. Yung pagka friendly ng mga barista hindi pilit. And when I walked in everybody said "maam kamusta po? Namiss po namen kayo." Nakakatuwa. :) Best Starbucks branch for me. 10084

Way back when there were just a few Starbucks stores around, my friends and I used to hang out here a lot. Just like other branches, they have renovated. I like the new modern feel of the place.

I had a midnight snack run of Spanish Sardine Pandesal and Classic Chocolate Cake. The Pandesal was soft, the filling wasn't too salty. I think it had carrots and olives too. The Cake was rich, moist and chocolatey. The chocolate garnish was made of dark chocolate.

Service was fast. The staff were friendly and patient in answering my questions. They were quick to get unused trays and clean up tables as well.

I walked out with a smile on my face and 2 bags of Coffee Grounds for our Garden.

I don't drink coffee.

Because:

1. I have acid reflux.

2. I do not like the bitter taste.

But then one day my friend Kirby made me taste the most amazing coffee I have ever tasted!

Go to Starbucks and order a White Chocolate Mocha with BREVÉ, and then ask the barrista to have the whipped cream stirred.

I kid you not, this is the creamiest and most delicious coffee that you will ever have.

Used my october coupon from the starbucks 2014 planner... 100 peso for a breakfast sandwich 128522
Not much of a discount though.

Tried their spam black pepper, egg and cheddar in new york bagel... (Haba the name) 115

I didn't enjoy it cause of the bagel., its too chewy
The outer part of it is too hard.
128513128513128513128513128513
Ang hirap kainin, kahit kagatin or cut it with a knife.,
I even think of dipping it into my hot coffee!
Hahahhaa pinoy way of eating pandesal!
Hahha

Anyway., place is small..
Outdoor space is ok.
Quiet place inside.
Cozy as always.. 128077128077128077128077128077

After a tiring day of having a call, I just can't resist to take a drink break. Hahaha

So I ordered the drink that I've been craving since Monday. The eber customized Iced Green tea latte of Starbucks. I clearly explained it to the Barista and she says that they don't put hot water anymore because they already have a shaker (paging Peanut D) 128521 Good thing Noey (king of Rustan coffee) 128517 decided to have that. 128077

She even offered to have it less ice so it's milky rather tea-ish. 128525

I just love it! 128076

PS the barista is coincidentally my batchmate and she knows me, 128530 I forgot her name. Boo, Z. Anyways, i'm glad that I left a mark on her life. (Lakas maka-Gandhi) 128514

On my second day of Coffee Appreciation 101, Kevin presented a French-pressed iced coffee, still using the Brezza blend (as opposed to yesterday's coffee that was brewed using the Bunn digital brewer.

Because there was no spinach tart available, Roegan T, I picked the sticky cinnamon bun for dessert. Unfortunately, I was cautioned by Kevin that this does not go well with Brezza. He recommended the mocha caramel crunch cake instead.

Since the coffee was pressed, one could immediately see that the coffee in the cup was oily. We went through the same steps of smelling, slurping, and cut-slurp-cut, this time with a pressed iced coffee.

The aroma was a little bit milder compared to a steaming cup of brewed coffee but the taste was a lot better (see previous Starbucks Coffee Appreciation 101 Review 128513). With the hot coffee from yesterday's review, the cold coffee taste did not linger on your tongue. You still got the same coffee taste sensation at the tip of your tongue but it went away fast.

Then we sliced the mocha caramel crunch cake and slurped the iced coffee .. One will immediately get to taste the earthiness of the coffee and it's citrusy quality. I tried the cinnamon sticky bun to see how "bad" it is to pair it with Brezza iced coffee. Kevin was right. The coffee taste felt flat. There was no distinct herbal, earthy, citrusy taste of the coffee. I guess, this is akin to the bland coffee where I would describe it as "parang nilublob na medyas" (not that I've done that with my socks 128584).

What have I learned from this experience:
1. I never thought I would come to enjoy iced coffee. I've always liked my coffee hot.
2. That you just don't pair any type of food with any brewed coffee blend. Since Brezza blend is bright and herbal, it goes well with food that have citrus hints (like lemon, orange), herbal, or caramel.
3. That I will now order brewed coffee and ask the barista which food to pair it with. Or if I'm craving for a particular pastry, I will definitely ask what blend is highly recommended.

Now, to look for my French press again and make my own iced coffee. (Sorry, Dolce Gusto, I have to shelve you for the meantime.) 9749

While having lunch at Starbucks and replying to Roegan T regarding spinach tart, a Starbucks guy approached me to discuss their new Brezza Blend. He said this blend is perfect for summer because it has a hint of citrus.
Kevin, brought a tray of cups of brewed coffee and a plate of Belgian caramel waffle.
He told me that of the 3 coffee regions, namely Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Africa, the beans roasted in the Asia Pacific region is good for iced coffee because of the way they were roasted.
For my coffee appreciation 101, first step was to smell the brew. I covered my cup with my palm and inhaled the brew. There was this earthy, herbal scent but none that gave a hint of citrus. He told me that this was made using the Bunn digital brewer.
Next was to slurp - the louder the better. This will help you appreciate the body of the coffee. A medium-bodied coffee will not feel heavy on your tongue. One will only "feel" the coffee at the tip of the tongue.
Next was "cut-slurp-cut" pertaining to the waffle. We both sliced a small piece of the caramel waffle, chewed it and then took a slurp of the coffee. And voila! I tasted the tanginess of the brew. I thought it was a fluke so I tried it again. Hahahahha! And yes, the citrusy taste was there!
Tomorrow, Kevin will prepare a French-pressed Brezza blend and a spinach tart. I shall update you on the progress, Roegan T! 128522
