En route to the airport, our driver brought us first to the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City. I've never heard about the place so we were curious to explore.
I was wearing leggings so I had to 'borrow' (with a donation) a skirt at the entrance of the shrine. Shorts, skirts etc aren't allowed as well.
When you enter the shrine, you will see nothing but flights of stairs. So nowhere to go but up ü
At the first landing, there was a grotto with a beautiful image of mama Mary. From there you can see the head of Jesus peeking at the top of the next flight of stairs.
Must've climbed about 200 steps and the view at the top was just amazing. There was a huge statue/image of Jesus in full color surrounded by beautiful gardens. A few more flights up and you can see that the 'rays' coming out of Jesus' heart are actually more stairs! You can literally enter Jesus' heart! We decided not to go anymore since you've to attend an orientation and film showing first etc.
Going farther up we saw that behind the statue there was a beautiful chapel (with a crown of thorns on top).
It was really a beautiful and well maintained place funded by donations from the Divine Mercy Foundation.

Our last visit in CDO wouldn't be complete without paying a quick visit to a miraclous and religious place in Mindanao before heading home in Manila.

This is my very first time to see a gigantic statue of Jesus. I was like 128563.. Literally. This place is so solemn and serene. I was hoping to see "The Dancing Sun".

A well maintained place. Take note they said this is NOT a tourist spot.

You can totally view the whole CDO up here.

I loved my visit here... It truly was very peaceful, you really feel that you are entering a sacred place... The majestic statue coupled with the view makes all your troubles seem tiny in comparison and puts everything in perspective... 10084

I can't express how I felt when I saw the shrine. The view is incredible and the place itself is already solemn. 128591128591128591

Simply amazing. Make sure that you will light some candles for your wishes and have a water blessed by the priest... And of course pray. 10084

Have you gone to Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban? This one is bigger - really gigantic!

To all catholic devotees, I recommend this place for a peaceful stay where you can pray and bond with the Lord.

If you look at the photo, the first rays from the ground to Jesus' chest from both right and left are actually long stairs to reach his heart. Upon reaching his heart, there's a chapel inside where you can pray in silence with full devotion.

Surrounding the whole area where the Statue of the Divine Mercy is mounted are:

Full view of Cagayan De Oro City
Beauty of Nature
Stations of the Cross
Other small chapels
Religious souvenir shop
Holy Water area (bring home some for free)
Images and statues of saints
Adoration chapel
Candle area

This place is special. : )
