Getting there. If you're coming from Manila, prepare to spend 3.5-4 hours traveling. Roads especially in Nasugbu-Lian are still under construction, some areas having one lane passable only.

The place. It's been around for a while (previously known as Residence Inn and rebranded as Stilts in 2010) so don't expect modern amenities. As long as you don't compare it to El Nido, you should have a pleasant experience. We stayed at Love cottage which had 2 bedrooms, a loft (dormitory style and steep stairs) a common area, 2 bathrooms and a powder room. Very rustic. Downside is that there are cockroaches and ants everywhere so don't leave food lying around for long.

Explore the whole expanse and you'll find it's great for quality time either with family, a good friend, or yourself. I love that there were literary quotes scattered everywhere. There are water sports activities and ATV rides available. If you want something less strenuous, fun games are available - we had a blast playing Word Factory! But better to bring your own if you plan on spending more than a day trip or overnight here.

Food. Order the Filipino dishes - bulalo, inihaw, danggit - and you should be happy. They can bring it to your cottage or serve it in the Sweet Spot - their restaurant. For a fee, they can even arrange for a meal by the beach.

Beach trips are usually reserved for summer but it’s different for my sun-hating family. We had our beach trip in December.

My aunt is usually the person in charge of our Christmas reunions and one time, she made arrangements to have it in Stilts Calatagan.

The drive to the place was pretty long. It took us around 3 hours to get there from Manila. We barely had any stop so our butts were sore from the long and slightly bumpy ride.

We got there just in time for lunch and we enjoyed a Pinoy style spread.

After settling down, my sister and I decided to go to the beach to build a sand castle. But we failed as the sand just wouldn’t hold up. We finally gave up and just kayaked for half an hour.

Kayaking is fun and relaxing but there will come a point when it turns really boring. And when we hit that point, we went back to the shore and headed to the secluded pool till dinner time.

The dinner spread was also Filipino but I noticed that the dishes were deadlier than the ones served for lunch. We had sisig, chicharon bulaklak and crispy pata to name a few.

We headed back to our cottage, suspended by stilts, and had some fun games before going back to our rooms to rest.

We woke up early the next day to prepare our things for our trip back home and to enjoy our complimentary breakfast. The bestseller then was the crispy danggit.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Just do not expect fine sand as the shore was very rocky. Also, wear an insect repellant band to be safe from mosquito bites. The place has a lot of plants and could house blood loving insects.

Hi Stilts, I'm back. 128080128080128080

Went to a roadtrip with friends bound to Batangas.. while looking for a place to visit, I suggested Stilts and we all agreed. It is as beautiful as my first visit. The staffs are friendly and nice. We had a day tour and rented a cabana where we can leave our things. We stayed for 5 hours and every single minute we spent was worth it.
We had the swimming pool all to ourselves. Unlike from my last visit, the beach now was quiet and we had some time swimming there. The water was crystal clear and the Sand was powdery cream. Everything went well.
Ofcourse, we did not pass the chance to score upon their cheap liquors while having some chitchats and playing sungka. It was an enjoyable time for us. Again, I enjoyed my day tour visit at Stilts.128077

My third time already and the beach resort still manages to amaze me with its beauty!

Took a day trip with the boyf last weekend for a beach date. We were able to get there via commute by taking a shuttle from Kabayan Hotel (Php180 per person) to Calatagan Market then riding a tricycle (we were charged at Php160 for us both na) to Stilts.

The staff were, as usual, accommodating and friendly! 128522 They took care of our belongings when we went out for a swim as we only reserved the cozy nook (Php600). All in all, it was a really enjoyable stay!

Looks like we'll be coming back for an overnight stay next time! 128522

Stilts has always been known for the beach and team-building resort but for this CNY trip, the intent was to go diving. We stayed overnight and got booked at their Simplicity Bungalow which allowed us to schedule the dives at a very leisurely pace and because there were only 2 sites worth going to (unlike in Anilao where we easily do 4 dives every overnight trip).

Dive trips: The resident dive master, Ney Guevara, is the one who certified us and he has been our constant dive master for all our diving trips to date. In order to reach the dive sites, we had to take a short (~10-min) boat ride. Ney had it covered for all 7 of us, including him. All equipment were also made available so it was a breeze. Dive rates are P1,000 per dive but you have to add more if you don't have your own gear. There were only 2 sites, one is artificially done and designed like pyramids and the other one is steamboat wreck. Both areas have good marine life. Wishing Ney could discover more sites soon.

Room: Very basic and no frills.

Food: Although they have a limited menu, everything was good from the pizza to the pasta to the sinigang to the bistek Tagalog to grilled liempo.

Massage: We availed of their massage last-minute and we were accommodated. The Stilts massage was one of the best I've had! Sulit for P650!!!

We stayed at the Tree House for a different kind of staycation. Stilts is a very huge resort and I think it's an ideal place for team offsites and barkada outings. The staffs were also friendly! 100241002410024 it's a bit far but the long drive's worth it 9786

Had a day tour here with friends. The staffs were nice and very attentive. The resort is very spacious. Their swimming pool is big enough unlike the others i've visited within the area. We were welcomed by one of their staff in the parking lot and accompany us to their reception area. The walkway to get through their reception area was lovely. There were inspirational quotes, lanterns, different flowers, mini falls all over the place. You will feel relaxed once you enter the resort. It was low tide when we came and the weather was not cooperating so no water activities for us. Anyway they offer kayaking, island hopping etc. Nothing special with their restaurant itself but they got a very delicious clubhouse sandwich. Also, they offer liquor shots for just a minjmal amount. Imagine a shot of Amaretto sour, martini dry, rum etc for only 20-50php each, really a steal. There were also some "sungka" scattered within the area which the visitors can use. My first time to play sungka here while having a glass of martini dry on the rocks! (Ohhh life!) Will try staying here overnight next time to fully appreciate the resort (and the water activities!hihi) 128515

Had a great but short lunch time here at The Stilts. Lunch is just great! It was quite a warm day but the view and the wind just makes everything just perfect.

Pinakbet was as how I expected it to be. Vegetables are cooked just right. Not soggy or oily. The bagoong alamang maybe a little salty for some but that's just how it is here in Batangas. I did taste a hint of bagoong Balayan (one of my favorite rice companions), of which its town of origin is just a few minutes away from Calatagan.

Their liempo is something you would want to include in your order. Serving is only for 1 person though. I'm not really into pork but I think I have just forgotten that. Sarap talaga at every bite.

Their version of the lumpiang hubad is just marvelous! Really fresh crisp veggies. Order is good for 3 to 4 persons. I think I ate half of it!

Staying here for lunch was so relaxing. View pa lang, solb ka na! Food is not so pricey either. I'm definitely going to come back soon! Heard from friends though that accommodation is fully booked during weekends till September 2015.

Went here last May 15, well I am not expecting too much since personally I don't like the beaches in batangas, but I appreciate it of course it's near our place hahaha!

Why 3 stars? First, the food is not that yummy, we had a lechon and meeehhhhh doesn't have any taste.. Then it's low tide and you have to walk 300meters or more to take a dip. So we just played frisbee. Hahahaha!

The pool is for everyone's use, day tour or overnight, so it will be crowded at times like REALLY CROWDED. The pool is nice 3-5feet, I think they made it big since they know that the beach is isn't that promising.

Value for money? Not quite, better stay at punta fuego and add a little more. Will I go back? If I'm gonna spend my own money, no. Hahaha!

I just wanna reminisce the unforgettable Nurses' outing i had here with my colleagues and friends way back years ago.

We had the best Team Building turned into a party all night long, jamming, laughing and endless picture takings!!!! 128540

It's just wonderful that i can take note of it here through my reviews here on Looloo and won't forget it after all. 9786

The white sand, greens and trees were just amazing. There is a swimming pool area before you reach the Sand and the Hotel. The Water on the Beach dries up in the afternoon where you can walk up to the middle part barefooted. Just be careful not to stay there till dark that's when the water comes back to it's original high level.

SPCM Employees' Outing (Oct 22-23) 128582

E VE RY THING WAS PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL!! Much more than a paradise the moment you enter the place. As you walk through the aisle, varied quotations are imprinted on carved woods and flowers are so, so nice!! 127800127799127802127811127807 #naturelover haha

The picture displays the view of the cottages, one floor down and a hundred steps away from the main entrance. We almost occupied all of them. For the cottages, it is named uniquely and ours is inspiration :") They said it's a bungalow type but it has two floors inside. Amazing lang, they have 3 rooms which can accommodate at most 20 persons, 3 comfort rooms (one shower room128703 outside the cottage, one toilet room 128701 and one 128703128701complete comfort room), one big duyan outside to let you feel the cool breeze 127754 wala nga lang wifi 128514

I'd really go for a swimming pool 127946 than risk my life and hurt my eyes on a salty set up. Yay cheers to a hot-spring pool!! I can honestly stay there but the bantays are so mahigpit they couldnt let us stay for a long time (we were not wearing 128089 kasi 128549)

In terms of their food, I'm not sure if they are from the resort or the school had a separate catering service. Whichever, they made me full so I practically don't care hehe he he 9996️ And, a videoke is staring right in front of me 128064127908

I couldnt say anything more. After a hellish second quarter, this two-day outing is a hella one-of-a kind experience for me 128581

Giving you unrelated facts, the parents are so old-school so at the age of 22, this is my very first time to be permitted to go on an overnight out-of-town 128099128074128539

Stayed here last Sunday - Monday for a quick beach getaway. Going there, we took the Naic-Ternate-Caylabne route which was very scenic and beautiful.
The resort is almost at the end of the strip of resorts, it's right before Playa Calatagan. After going through the gate you've to drive a short distance to the where you need to check in. I was surprised to see many parked cars [I thought going on a Sunday would mean less people]. Turns out, they allow day trips too.
Check in was quick and a manong led us [via small truck] to our cottage. It's a detached kubo and not on stilts as those are a bit more expensive. It was small but cozy, around 25sqm with a twin bed, a ref, etc. No TV though! Didn't expect that haha. The bathroom was a bit bleh for 6k a night. The toilet is in a separate 'room' from the shower and there's no ventilation, just a small window. The shower area is just painted concrete. Although water pressure is good and there's a decent heater too. The A/C is a window type so it's a bit noisy. No wifi in the room too so you've to rely on your 3G. It was also about a 3-4min walk to the resto and pool area.
After arriving at the cottage, our welcome drinks arrived shortly after. We also ordered a pizza since we were quite hungry from our trip.
Menu prices are reasonable also for the drinks and cocktails.
Beach is ok, sand is quite fine but there's a lot of seaweed. Low tide comes pretty early too.
All in all it was an ok trip since we wanted to try a beach in Calatagan.
Btw, you can bring in your own food to grill etc, they have grills and sinks near the huts so you can prep.
