Almond Sans Rival (950)

My brothers who really like Sans Rival Cake said they liked it.

Me? It was okay. I didn't like the almond, it was too much (AS IN TOO MUCH). But other than that, it's fine :)

Maybe I should have just chosen the Cashew Toffee. Huhu. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! lol

Get 30% off on SUGARHOUSE's Whole Cakes on July 7, in celebration of their 30th year!!! Yahoo! I reco their French Apple Pie!

*like their best in class French Apple Pie (right Edwin I?) so instead of P1050, it'll be P735 (thereabouts). The nice girl who served our take out orders said they accept reservations (or something like that) by calling them too.

Had me a preview by eating a slice last night. Granted, the server did not hear it so it was cold. But it was still soooooo good!128519

This was a take out only so I'm just reviewing my all time favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. It was many years ago when I first fell in love with this. A few years back they changed the recipe.

I then met the new owners and I told one of them that the oatmeal raisin cookie was not nearly as good as it was before. Then months after she emailed me to give me a free sample as they reverted back to the original recipe and true enough they did!

Fast forward a year or two later to last Sunday when I passed Sugarhouse after my 2nd time at Tully's and I bought one to go.

The soft chewy texture and the right sweetness, oatmeal cookie with raisins still hit the spot. It was better as I remembered it but I'd say it was 85% just as good which is still better than most.

At P50 still, it's ridiculously huge but hits the spot. 127850

I refrained from my (also) favorite French Apple Pie so next time.

Best apple pie in town!! (P135 a slice) more apples and less crust!
It comes with cheese on top and whip cream on the side. 128527

For those who still remember, sugarhouse used to make really awesome cakes and pies back in the 90s. My sisters and I loved apple pie a la mode and midnight.

Sugarhouse has since faded into obscurity, and I was saddened and disappointed by the deterioration in quality when I tried their apple pie a la mode in their BGC branch back in 2011.

However, I have a new favorite now: Turtle pie! This one I can heartily recommend.

Ambience wise, the booth al fresco is quite comfy and perfect for eating solo :)

They could've hired a better interior designer. The staff although friendly enough should pay more attention to requests from guests. I asked for the mango to be removed from my salad and i get an over-ripe mashed mango drizzled all over. I'm sure they have seen better days. But anyway, you don't really go there for the salad obviously. Their desserts are packed with all the wrong stuff but you still simply want them. Coffee is good. Strong with full bodied flavor. Complements the sweets in a good way. Overall...it's a nice place for a nightcap.
