Well, just ordered the usual Japanese dishes, since my dad and I were still not very hungry when we visited Sugi. We got Salad, Sake/Salmon, Tako/Octopus Sashimi, Chawan Mushi/Japanese Egg Custard, and Zaru Soba. By far, the most authentic Zaru Soba I had. I must say, this restaurant is kinda pricey, but the food is of good quality.

Will give this restaurant another visit, to try their specialties, and order not-so-ordinary food in the menu.

Everything was really good and fresh! I ordered my usual Spicy Tuna (PHP300+) then added another dish which was the Salmon and Cheese Maki (PHP300+).

My college bestfriend ordered maki also (I forgot the name).

The only problem I had was that the Panko bread crumbs on my Spicy Tuna was not that crispy. 128517

Service was okay. Servers were attentive and approachable. Ambiance was cozy too.

I went out with my college friends yesterday, and found this Japanese restaurant in Greenbelt 2 called Sugi.

The space is spacious; besides the first floor dining area, they also have a second, and a private room for small functions. Interiors are great; the lanterns are what won me over!

Service staff was great as well, very well mannered and attentive to our needs. Although I'm not sure how they handle guests when they are packed since we were first ones in the restaurant that day.

Food was a 4.5/5. I ordered a Katsu Donburi, and the pork was slightly tough. However, the price is compatible with the serving size, since it has a lot of sides already including soup; and is big enough for 2 people to share. I didn't even finish mine because it was that many! I also ordered Tuna Sashimi (a favorite) and it did not disappoint considering the slices were thick and for each order you get at least 7 pieces; not bad for P300.00!

I would recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese food as much as I. Will definitely go back with my family! 128077🏻⛩128508127857127843

Knocking off the work week with dinner @ Sugi, located at Greenbelt 2. Am I this young?! Haven't heard this place in this lifetime.. Hehe! Well, I'm excited though. According to my significant other, this is one of the pioneer and best Japanese dining in Makati (another one is Tsukiji) Aside from dinner may kasamang FYI128522128522Based on my readings prior this review, this resto has been operating for over 30 years, serving traditional Japanese cuisine.

Sugi has spacious dining space in its ground floor, notice also that they have 2nd floor with function rooms. The place is elegantly arranged, from its wooden dark brown chairs & tables, huge Japanese lanterns, slightly dimmed lighting. Servers are in their kimonos 127886127884

My date call the shots, we had:

Nasa Abura Itame-Fried eggplant with sesame sauce 100.00. This one is good, I often have the fried eggplants but seaame sauce makes it extra lovely.

Ebi Tempura-All prawn tempura 340.00. Perfectly golden brown, and served hot! Which makes it more tasty & yummy

Gindara Teriyaki-Grilled cod fish with Sugi teriyaki sauce480.00 The highlight of the dinner. Its a must try 10084

Kaki- Oyster 250.00 Another tasty dish we had, generous oysters in it with bell pepper and onions.

Food: great dishes, well made, served hot 128076🏼
Ambiance: Elegant, nice date place
Price: quality food with reasonable price

My sister and I were both craving for Japanese food yesterday so we decided to give Sugi a try. It was our first time here but mom has been here several times already and she said it she found it yummy. I've heard good reviews about their sashimi and sushi but since I don't like raw food, I skipped this. My parents and I ordered lunch sets which were sulit for P500. My sister chose to order ala carte.

Mom had the Meatball and Tori Kuwa Fu set which included 3 pieces meatballs and deep fried chicken coated with teriyaki(?) sauce. Serving was hefty that it took her a while to finish everything. It also came with some sides, miso soup, rice and orange slices.

My dad and I ordered a Seafood Teppan set. Shrimp, tuna, oyster and squid cooked misono style. Seafood was sautéed in a sweet-salty sauce that makes you wanna eat more rice. 128517 Same as the Tori Set, the set was served with rice, sides, soup and dessert.

My carnivore sister chose their Wafu Steak and a separate order of gohan. She loved it! Beef was tender and tasty!

They also served one complimentary drink (I think it's red iced tea) because it's Mother's Day. My sister took a sip and liked it so she ended up having the drink all to herself. 128514

My family's go to Japanese restaurant. Good customer service and food is pretty consistent. They are very accommodating when it comes to requests especially if it's due to food restrictions due to allergies.

Japanese dinner with my college friends! 127884
Will I ever get tired of Japanese food? NEVERRR!!! 128513

We had two rooms reserved upstair since we are a big group. It's my first time eating here and my aunt, who eats here a lot, told me that the food here is good especially the teppanyaki.

When I arrived, orders were already complete. Good thing, most of the meals were still hot. 128513128513

First, I tried the Kani Salad which I enjoyed because of the generous serving of crabsticks, sweet mangoes, and cucumber. Very light and refreshing! 9786️ Then Salmon Sashimi and the Tuna cubes coated with Japanese breadcrumbs (name unknown haha 1285591285351285179996🏼️) Both were fresh and really gooood! 128525 Then tried the Beef Teppanyaki with bean sprouts which was very tender, tasty, and flavorful!!! Beef were in bite size pieces so you'll surely eat a lot! Ahhh, buti it was far from were I was!!! 128517 Chicken teriyaki was good. Juicy and tender chicken fillet. 128513 The ebi tempura was just okay. Not the crispy crunchy type and size was just average. The seafood teppanyaki was good. Generous serving of shrimp, fish, squid, and oyster or mussels? Good but not something I'll order again. 128517

Service was excellent. The staff assigned to us was very efficient. She gets everything we need and she's very friendly and nice. Aside from the good food, we also enjoyed our stay because of her warm service. 9786128076🏼

Liked everything! Would not give a perfect score just yet, I feel that there's just something missing, that taste and feeling like I was in japan myself having that same food. Or that's just me. 128517

Service was excellent though, ambience and all.

Would def come back! :))

Another celebration for my hubby here. Reserved their private rooms downstairs to accommodate our clan of 20+ and it was alright. Service was ok. Not stellar, since there were a lot of us, and some orders took longer to arrive. But the food is still as good as I remembered. They may be old school, but they still know how to fight with the newer Jap restos.

The food is good but not as good as you would expect for the price (only talking about the usual Japanese staples such as sashimi, sushi/maki, tempura). Service is not that great either, the servers take a long time to address additional requests. Still a good dining experience though.

Not same as my first experience. I decided to bring with my family here because of how good their food was. Servings were small back then but I felt so satisfied with the taste. I brought them there because of the heavenly wagyu yakiniku but it was not available.128557

They still had the best tempura though but I was really hoping to have a taste of that wagyu goodness. We got the beef tenderloin something but of course it's not as good as their wagyu. Haha.

My cousin, his wife, and her godparents went to the Philippines a few days ago. I haven't seen my cousin in 8 years, so I asked him if we could have lunch or dinner before they leave. So, when they got back from Palawan, we had dinner at Sugi.

The place was easy to locate, but we had troubles with parking spaces. It was walking distance from Ascott Hotel (where we were all staying) though, but we chose to go there by car. Haha. Sugi has this very warm Japanese ambiance that makes one feel that you're really in a restaurant in Japan. We had this room reserved (the one in the picture). It's cozy and nice, but it's kinda hard to stand up once you're seated.

The servers were patient and attentive. Imagine serving 2 tables and a super kulit kid who asks questions every now and then. They even volunteered to put the "surprise birthday cake" (for my cousin's wife) in the fridge. And, they served it exactly right after we were done with our dinner. They sang an English and a Tagalog version of the Birthday Song. We didn't even ask them to bring dessert plates and slice the cake for us; they just did without being asked!

Anyway, we had their California Maki and Tiger Roll for starters. The slices were quite thick and quite big for one bite. Super yummy, nonetheless.

We had their fried chicken, steamed lapu-lapu, gindara, beef teppanyaki, tempura, and veggies. I actually loved their fried chicken and steamed lapu-lapu. The chicken were crispy and tender at the same time. They weren't oily. The steamed lapu-lapu was tasty and it wasn't flaky. Their beef teppanyaki was on the "a-tad-bit-salty" side of things.

It's a must try for Japanese food fanatics, though the price. I'd definitely try and persuade the H to have lunch or dinner with me here some time. :)

Highlights of the meal were the tiger roll (pictured) and wafu steak! We also ordered seafood teppanyaki, salmon teppanyaki and assorted sashimi. 127843127860

Wafu steak was tender, buttery and melted in your mouth 128077 It came with enoki mushrooms and tofu. I loved the hamachi in the tiger roll!

The sashimi came in a small serving, though it was fresh naman. The tuna in the seafood teppan was a bit overcooked but I liked the sauce :) same sentiments for the salmon!

Service is good overall, although it took them a long time to come up with our bill. Including service charge & vat it's about 500-800 per head. Depends on how much you order!

My first ever meal in Sugi was over lunch with a client so I wasn't able to take photos.

I forget what the others ordered but I just had their Mango Kani Salad, Dragon Roll and Salmon Sashimi. It was my first time EVER to try the latter. I tried it in a restaurant before when I was a bit young and I found it greasy so I never tried it again HAHA! But now I actually crave for it! It's the melt-in-your-mouth kind which apparently is the good and best kind. 128076

Service was still good despite them being a tad late a couple of times when we'd press the buzzer inside the room.

One of the classic upmarket Japanese restaurants, Sugi is a go-to for so many people looking for authentic Japanese food.

Ordered their best selling Teppan dish that has seafood & beef. Well cooked. Sashimi also plump and delish. Had to order a second order of salmon sashimi aside from the tuna.

And well sized tempura that's cooked pretty golden and crunchy.

Great service, too.
