July 13, 2018. Hungry and craving for Mediterranean food. We ordered 1 beef shawarma, 1 all beef shawarma, special kebab plate and hummus dip. Everything came except the shawarma which was my order. Then my daughter complained that the meat in her all meat shawarma was just ¼ of the pita. I understand. But thats NOT how Uncle Moes serves all meat shawarma. Lastly, the cashier. Prior to not getting my shawarma order she has the face of somebody who doesn’t want to work.

We could’ve went to Uncle Moe’s instead. Food is way better. Service is excellent. Price is reasonable. Im not going back to this Mediterranean restaurant even if its free.

Photo of their version of all meat shawarma. The best joke of all time!

Caveat: This review is based on my limited exposure to Mediterranean food such as the shawarmas sold on street corners and in a few restaurants I have tried.

Lunch today was at Sultan's at the Marketplace in Podium. I ordered beef shawarma, keema and hummus. The shawarna was good. The meat tender plus the size is more than enough to feed a hungry man. My only issue is that the pita was too thick for my liking. A few bites and you woukd be stuffed by the bread alone. The keema, I did not like. It was wet and tasted like curry. As my friend woukd say "di siya masayang kainin". The hummus was great! It was soft, moist and a bit oily. A perfect dip for the pita bread.

I did not order the kebab but I noticed my friend struggling to cut the meat. It was tough so I assume it was also a fail though I would not pass judgment on it since I didn't try it myself.

Sultan's gets average marks in my book. Nothing great just ok.

A week ago, it was my 2nd visit in Corner Market in The Podium Mall. I overlooked last time that the place has more stallls in another hallway, until I go back with my officemates. Mediterranean dishes is one of my all time favorites, so I go and try Sultan.

In just a glimpse of their menu, I decided to order Special Kebab Platter, (P335) I realized that this is one BIG meal. You can choose 1 koobideh and 1 kebab, and I chose beef koobideh and 1 chicken kebab. I added an extra P30 for the biryani rice.. on the side it has grilled tomato and salad plus sauce.

Verdict: the biryani rice is so tempting that I finished it all. Carbs! Its one big meal and I think its reasonably priced. The kebab amd koobideh is good. Their sauce is kinda “bitin”, since we are like in a food court, you’ll make an effort to go back to the stall for add’l sauce. We’re seated too far from Sultan, so I didnt bother to go back. Will definitely go back 128522

Sultan is one of the latest additions to the restaurants in Corner Market and it’s a familiar name so I decided to grab some kebab for lunch. One order of Beef Kebab includes 6 big kebab chunks, rice and some veggies on the side. I found the chunks of beef kebab a little bland and dry. Yes, it was on the soft and juicy side but it wasn’t enough for me to enjoy the dish. The rice and the veggies were just so-so.
