We were supposed to have dinner at TGI Friday's but as expected on a Friday night, the place was packed. Because I was already cranky from hunger (everyone, hide! 128561), we just decided to try out Sumosam. Now, the SO is not a fan but we wanted to give the place a chance.

The place was cozy and staff were great. Hope we can say the same for the food though. We ordered Crunchy Tuna Roll, Green Chicken, and Pork Yakitori (because that visit at Nanbantei of Tokyo made us crave for yakitori).

The roll was okay. It was yummy enough but there's nothing really very amazing about it. The Green Chicken was a disappointment. It kinda looked and tasted like southern fried chicken. I didn't taste anything Japanese-y in it. It wasn't different or innovative or whatever. I hated the yakitori. It was sooooo dry. I get that you grill it and stuff. So yeah, you can taste that it's been grilled and all. But it shouldn't be so dry. Plus there were a lot of parts that were charred to black. Sometimes, I didn't taste the yakitori anymore, just the awfully burnt pork. It was a far cry from the yakitori we had in Nanbantei. Not surprisingly, our yakitori craving was not satisfied. 128532

Let's have some Dynamite Roll for lunch! Isn't it appetizing? This is one of their best sellers, it's spicy (make sure you have a high tolerance 128293) and tastes really good! 128076🏻 I have also tried their Crunchy Kani Roll, Spicy Tuna Salad. 128513

Their staff were consistent in customer service and was really helpful in ordering food. Price wise, it's of standard because they have good food.

Will definitely be back! 128525

I can eat Sumosam's cheese fried maki everyday! My top favorite maki of all time. One serving is already good for two unless you are super matakaw. :)

Their rolls are always yummy but I've come to appreciate their Oyako Don more over the last visit. I think that for the price they have (250 something), it is definitely a reasonable treat. Their house tea (especially when cold) goes really well with this particular dish.

Alam mo yung pinipilit mo nalang ubusin yung pagkain mong di masarap kasi sayang/mahal? Ganun feeling ko dito. 128542

Ebi tempura was too oily, and they were not very generous with the tempura sauce. I've had better tempura for MUCH cheaper.

I've tried Sumosam before but I don't remember their food being this unsatisfying. I'm rating now based on food experience and while I might have ordered those that aren't their "specialty", it was just really disappointing. I had their Tantanmen and I felt like I was eating spicy instant noodles. 128557 It was bland and looked like there was more togue than noodles. My friend and I were both so unhappy with the ramen we ordered. Too expensive for the taste. 128078 Gyoza was so-so.

I've eaten here a few times before, ordering something different each time. None of them were notable, however.

Today, I craved for a katsudon, and this is the first "japanese" restaurant I passed by, so I tried it. Presentation was good, serving size was big (but for the price, it should be). The katsudon was not bad, but it was borderline salty. The miso soup WAS salty.

But I'd give credit to the servers who were very attentive, refilling my glass of iced tea each time they see it near-empty.

one must judge a japanese restaurant by the quality of its sushi, and in my case, by its quality of uni, and this one is not bright yellow:( like their japanese plates though...

Our default resto where we dine before we watch movies at Greenbelt 3. Plus factor is they open earlier than the rest (11am)
This is our favorite, the Sumosam's Pride salad.
Dressing is kinda sweet, and I like the combination of mixed grrens, diced mangoes, tomatoes, grilled shrimps and nuts!

Sorry, but this Chashu Ramen was not that good. 128533 I wish we ate somewhere else. I'll probably just stick to my tantanmen - not from here but you know, the ramen experts. Just a plus point on the crew who were friendly.

This one's the dynamite roll - not so good. Tasted a bit bland. Get the spicy caravan instead, a lot tastier. Dunno what happened but I think they got a bit more expensive.

Well well.... Royalty. Nobility. Gentry. How quaint. Even the rabble. 128516128516 I watch it again coz my friend treat me this time. Before headin' to the movie we eat first. The tempura ramen is great, the noodles is just right and it compliment with the soup, advise the waiter to separate the tempura so you can have it crunchy. The spicy caravan is a bomb (must try) 128077128077128077.

SumoSam's "cheese-fried" maki. I learned about this dish through a Twitter post of one of my friends and the name just intrigued the heck out of me. It sounded so divine. When I accidentally happened upon it during a client meeting, I couldn't help but order it.

I loved everything about Sumosam's cheese-fried maki. Granted, it's the first one I've ever tried, It tasted heavenly with just the right amounts of saltiness and tanginess because of its mayo. Overall, I was very happy I was finally able to find it. :)
