If you dont want to travel too far to go vigan , you should visit taal heritage city. You will see the biggest church in asia and historical houses and vintage furniture. Perfect also for photoshoots

Toured this place called Casa Villavicencio which combined history, beautiful scenery and awesome suman and tsokolate. Truly a great place for learning and food. Would recommend it to us Manilenos who want to learn more about 19th century Philippines.

Since I was in Alitagtag Batangas, I decided to visit Taal Church and I was glad that I include the Taal Heritage Village into my itinerary.

It was scorching hot Sunday and it was perfect to see Taal's beautiful structures. It is just a small place with Spanish era ambiance. I learned that the teleserye 'Ikaw Lamang' is being shoot here because of the perfect setting.

It was just a day trip and I felt like it was bitin trip. I will just come back maybe some other time. 128588

Vigan-like...
This is the best way to describe the Taal Heritage Village... But it is also quite unfair for it has its' own old world appeal.
Traditional is the operative word of the place... Beautifully preserved cobblestone streets and heritage houses, impressive church that stands in the middle of it all... The even have ruins of a church nearby, just ask one of the children to take you there in exchange for merienda...128516
Too bad it is not lauded as a tourist destination, being so close to Manila... But you can swing by this place, maybe as a day trip from Tagaytay or take a side trip on your way to Batangas or just stay in one of the many resorts by the beach... Well worth the trip for the Colonial Spanish feel without the long trip to Vigan...

If you find Vigan too far for your taste, try Taal's Visita de las Casas. Old heritage houses, oldest church in Asia, good food, warm Taal hospitality to all your heart's content!
