It was my first time to be inside University Mall, a go to mall by college students around the area for mostly dining. Each of its floors are filled with familiar brands but most of it are new concepts like TableTaft. It’s your friendly stop for games while munching on good food and it’s a fitting addition to an academic environment all around. Hey, there’s always room for fun.

As you go in you get tagged via baller for billing identification and a minimal Php 100 consumable fee is required to access their wide range of board games. Most of these are imported and still in mint condition.

The owners are all recent student themselves, four from nearby DLSU and one Atenean. Another partner staff goes around and assist you on how to play. This dude memorized all the rules and is very passionate when explaining. Admirable!

The food offerings here are quite a spread. They have the usual starters like fries, onion rings and nachos. They have more filling ones too with their creamy and cheesy pastas and rice toppings led by favorite, tasty sweet, Chicken Teriyaki. They also served us well seasoned Salpicao and best selling Butter Chicken on this sponsored invite. They got of course desserts and long line of milkshakes to keep you playing longer.

For a memorable sugary journey, I suggest their Apple Pie Turon. It’s crispy delicious on the outside and mushy fruity on its insides. It has an amazing contrast of textures. Another one I liked and their birthday cake for me was their Coffee Jelly with Oreo. Yuuum.

TableTaft beats other game board places I gone too for three simple reasons: affordability, friendly staff and a decent line up of food and beverages. See you?

TableTaft is located at the 2nd Floor of University Mall in Malate, Manila literally just beside LRT Vito Cruz Station and just a few steps away from DLSU South Gate. It's a pretty spacious boardgame cafe that can cater up to 70 people.

The cafe has a very homey, light, and minimalistic vibe. The white brick wall on one side of the cafe gives the place a very clean yet classy and modern look.

I'm fascinated with the level of details they put into the design and intricacies of the cafe. They even have a few giant Monopoly inspired "property cards" hanging on one side of the cafe where they changed the properties from the original game into different intersections of Taft Avenue such as P. Ocampo, Pedro Gil, and Kalaw. On the opposite wall is a chalk mural of different icons and characters from various classic and modern boardgames.

For first timers, they have a list of boardgames for first time players. Here, they recommend different boardgames for different types of game mechanics such as cooperative games, luck-based games, friendship over/bluffing games, party games, and competitive strategy games. This is a great way of introducing the modern era of boardgames to beginners. But if you prefer a more personal approach, they have a full-time game coach to help you choose games and even teach you and guide you through the games.

Jalapeño Poppers
Their Jalapeño Poppers is the perfect finger food if you want to enjoy your meal without being too messy. I surprisingly liked it despite not being a fan of Jalapeños, or anything spicy to be honest. It has the right amount of spiciness and wasn't too intimidating.
I appreciate that most of the food they serve here are made with the thought of "playing while eating" in mind. They make sure the food can be eaten without messing up the games.

127830Beef Salpicao
TableTaft's Beef Salpicao is one of my favorites! The meat is tender, very buttery and sautéed perfectly. I usually mix the rice bowl first so that the I can spread the butter evenly. It's not dry and even the mushrooms were well-seasoned.

127837Crispy Mushroom Pasta
The most sulit P150 I've spent for a pasta dish. A penne pasta lathered in white sauce topped with bits of crispy oyster mushroom with a side of garlic bread. The sauce has a creamy buttery taste which I find a little too much when I finish the whole plate. I would prefer if the mushrooms were bigger instead of the mushroom bits which I think will add more flavor to the dish.
One of the TableTaft's MUST-TRY Pasta Dish!

128031Salsa Verde Fish Fillet
Dory fish topped with white cream sauce mixed with chopped kangkong. Perfect for those who want a light yet filling rice bowl. :)

127831Chicken Teriyaki
Chicken thigh drizzled in savory special teriyaki sauce sprinkled with sesame seeds.
This is one of TableTaft's best-selling dish and according to them some students keep coming back for this. <3 Teriyaki's aren't my thing cause i'm not a fan of sweet-savory food but their version of Teriyaki has the perfect balance of sweet and salty that makes it bearable for me to eat. The chicken was pretty tender too, I loved it!

Iced tea has been a staple drink in many fast food chains and restaurants especially in the Philippines. With the number of restaurants creating their own version of this much loved drink it became pretty challenging for me to look for the best one. When I discovered Tabletaft's Special Brewed Iced Tea it was love at first sip! It's very light and has a distinct leafy taste that makes it refreshing and unique among other Iced Teas i've tried. Definitely one of the best in town!

Other Drinks: Iced Coffee, Milo Dino, Smores Milkshake

It's simple yet very tasty. I love the fact that it contains different things that I like such as the slight bitterness of the coffee jelly, the crunchy Oreo bits and the sweet cream poured all over.

I heard from friends that this is the dessert than turns into everyone's favorite when visiting Tabletaft.
I find the taste and texture interesting when the hot apple turon is eaten with the cold vanilla ice cream on top. The contrast really spikes my tastebuds! It's also interesting how they changed the typical banana turon and instead made it with a sweet apple filling.

Students in the area can spend their breaks here whether long or short ones. It's a great place to hang out and chill with your classmates or to reunite with old friends over great food choices to compliment a fun filled boardgame session. :) Their growing collection of 150+ boardgames is more than enough for both casual players and hardcore strategists, and I'm really excited to try all their games! First time players will definitely want to come back and spend more breaks here to try and play their entire collection, and of course to try other items from the menu.

The dog bit me! Awww! Actually, it's one of the games we played when we attended the Grand Launch of Table Taft Board Game Cafe.

Table Taft is located at the 2nd Floor of University Mall in Taft Avenue (Beside DLSU). I'm sure you will not ask how Table Taft arrived on its name. 128514 It's a board game cafe with almost a hundred boardgames you can choose and play.

It was Denise A who invited us last Saturday to join the café’s launching event with fellow loolooers (and other guests) for an afternoon of fun games with food at Table Taft Boardgame café - located at the second level of University mall along Taft Avenue and just beside the DLSU campus.

I arrived when everyone was already playing and eating. First, I was given a green baller with a number which serves as the indicator so you won't have problems with splitting the bill with your friends. You would need to pay PHP100 as the gaming fee and is also consumable.

For the food, we tried the ff:

Onion Rings - Big-sized onion rings that's crispy and a little flaky, and then paired with flavorful dip.

Meaty Bolognese Pasta - "It's definitely more than just your typical birthday spaghetti" - I have to agree! I really like it that it's overflowing with sauce and cheese!

Beef Salpicao Rice bowl - kinda a hit-and-miss for me! It somehow lacks some punch of that garlicky taste of salpicao!

Buttered Garlic Chicken Rice bowl - This one's quite good and I liked the butter sauce! Not too overwhelming but maybe a little more flavor and saltiness will do, I guess?

Chicken Teriyaki Rice bowl - This one's my favorite from the rice bowls so far! The chicken itself is already good but the special teriyaki sauce is beyond glorious!!! This one's a perfect 5 for me!

Oreo Coffee Jelly - too sweet for my taste, but I like the experimentation here!

Apple Turon a la Mode - Not totally a fan of Apple pie so I only had a few of this. I like the one with chocolate syrup the most. The one with the caramel syrup was way too sweet for me!

Nai Cha tea- absoluty refreshing!!! I really like it that it's not too sweet as I expect it to be!

Now for the games, we played a few like the ever-challenging Tapple; Wits & Wagers, a trivia-betting game; Coup, a friendship-over bluffing game; and the popular Exploding Kittens expanded edition. Coach Niko hosted most of our games and we really enjoy all of 'em!

We didn't mind shouting and laughing out loud as the acoustics of the whole place is good. The food is good, service is good, and we had fun during the event!

Awesome times guys! Jayson J Marc M Norman Lester T EJ B Dennis O! Thanks for the invite, Denise A!

Would like to go back and to try out more games with friends!

What i like about this place compared to other places with the same concept as this, is you could freely make noise and just go wholesomely wild without getting conscious whoever is watching you.

Unlike burger company, the place is larger and more conducive for playing, although BC got better food.

But then again, we really had fun games that day, plus the food and drinks are likable enough!

Upon entering, you will be given a baller with a number so to keep tract of your bill. So if the group decides to split bill at the end, it will not be a difficult doing the math. Plus, entrance fee of PhP100 which is absolutely consumable.

128204128525nacho fries *new item
I like the taste of sharp cheese, mayo and beef on top of fries, just mix all so your fries will have all the flavors evenly. Remember to just use fork instead of your hands.

128204 beefy fries overload @240PhP
Use fork as well 128517 because you don't want a messy hand while playing. This one is much cheesier and more beef chunks. Mixing is the technique so to have all the fries get all the flavor!

128204 jalapeño poppers @150PhP
If you like spicy, dare you to get this. If you are a super perspiring person like me, i do not recommend this to you kasi pagpapawisan k tlga. Pero if you can tolerate and love spicy food, this is really good, just two sticks for me is enough to make me perspire a lot.

128204128525 oversized cheese sticks *new item
I love this old school snack! This one and the jala poppers, you can use your hands as it is not oily. Oversized cheese logs rather than sticks. I love the blunt cheese taste that goes well with this yummy sour cream dip

128204 onion rings *new item
It was okay. The breading was too starchy--too thick? Pwede pa bawasan

128204128525bolognese pasta @150PhP
Does not taste much italian, not filipino as well128517 but it 's more on tge italian side actually. It's a little oily but i like the taste, especially the texture of the ground beef in it.

128204creamy crispy mushroom pasta @150PhP
Crispy bacon and creamy béchamel sauce. The penne pasta was aldente but it was too milky creamy for me. Did not notice the mushrooms though 128517

128204128525Chicken Teriyaki @160PhP
Sweet tooth people, you'll gonna love this! Simply the teriyaki sauce with the rice is irresistible. Chix cooked perfectly!

128204 Beef Salpicao
Savory loving people. Try this. I did not get to try the meat itself but i tried just the sauce and my taste buds immediately sensed the asian overall taste.

128204 Buttered Garlic Chicken
I actually did not like this rice bowl. The chicken were too dry. How ironic it's covered with this oily-buttery sauce.

128204128525 Apple Turon ala mode @80PhP
WOW. Mashed cinnamon flavored apple and plantain inside a spring roll wrapper. With a scoop of hearty vanilla ice cream.i love the subtle caramel drizzle compared to the dark chocolate taste this time.

128204128525 Coffee Jelly *new item
I thought it was ice cream but it's coffee jelly poured with vanilla cream sauce topped with an oreo cooke. Simple yet delicious. This is best eaten cold but slowly 128517 i wonder how.

128204 Black Forest Milkshake @165PhP
Too sweet i like Dennis O milo drink better. Less sweeter hehe. But i think I'm gonna like this than Marc M strawberry milksake which only tastes nothing but milky. Hehe. EJ B bluberry cheesecake milkshake is intriguing naman.

We did play a lot of fun games. The owners (5 of them) were glad to host and introduce us the newer games because we old schoolers only know scrabble and monopoly. I like the best is the buzzer beater (lol forgot the name), the penguin,... but most of all the exploding/imploding kittens!!

Thanks and congrats to kelvin (marketing person/part owner) who invited us! 128075 Norman Lester T, Russel F, Denise A, AlwaysHungryPh P

Last saturday we had a fun filled afternoon playing board games at Table Taft Grand Launch. In support with our fellow |oolooers Denise A the Kaladkarin troop the home of green and white DLSU. Inside University Mall is Table Taft a boardgame place for students to hangout. University life have really evolve during my time what we had was computer shops and bilyaran to waste our time during long break. Now this is a great new addition boardgame place.

Taft Table incorporate an individual billing system. When you enter the place they'll give you a baller and you need to pay a consumable 100PHP fee. This is a great idea for students who usually split the bill. A great less hassle idea.

For the food they are around the range of 150PHP which was very cheap compared to other boardgame place that I've been to. My fave was the Jalapeño Poppers. Your old school cheesesticks with jalapeño for that extra punch. Love the spicyness of it but well balanced by the thousand island sauce.128522 Another fave of mine was the Meaty Bolognese Pasta. Got a sweet mild meaty flavor. For the creambased people they'll enjoy the Creamy Cripsy Mushroom pasta. They also got fries bowl of different variant. The Taco Fries and CheesyBeef Fries they are a great sides while playing some boardgame.

For the rice bowl we got to try Chicken Teriyaki, beef salpicao and buttered garlic chicken. My fave among the 3 was the Chicken Teriyaki. Love the flavor and the sauce pwedeng pang ulam. The serving was a bit the typical student type of servingsize meal. More of rice and less of the toppings. Thats why I recommend the Chicken Teriyaki thats the most sulit hehe. 128513

For dessert I love Apple Turon a la mode. At 1st I thought it was banana but after Jayson insisting that it was mashed apple that I realize that he was correct. It was yummy good. Oreo Coffee jelly was also good and for only 50PHP it was a steal.

Now for the fun part the boardgame. They've got quite an extensive choices of boardgame. From the easy party type of games to the hardcore 8-12hrs type of games. No worry Game Coach Nico is a friendly patient type of dude. He is well versed and the nice part he gave some background about the game for us to enjoy it more. We started of with Tsuro the game of path. Next was the fast paced domini like game and next into the deceiving bluffing game Coup. Last was the fave of all exploding kitten with expansion Imploding Kitten. Nice it was a fun fun afternoon. In between we also played some trivia game and the crazy heartattack Dog Game.128514

Overall this is a place that I wish I had during my college days. I can imagine myself spending my 8hrs break here in this place. For only a consumable 100PHP wow! Sulit!

Thanks Denise A for the invite. Funtimes with you guys Norman Lester T AlwaysHungryPh P EJ B Jayson J Marc M Russel F 128513

I decided to meet up with a friend near Taft one day and we settled on this board game place we both haven't been to yet. It's a bit tucked away on the second floor of University Mall, so I had a bit of a hard time finding it 128517

The place isn't that big, but it looks clean and sleek with white walls and checkered floors. Upon entering, you register at the front desk and pay 100 pesos in exchange for a green baller thing with a number on it that indicates you've paid so you'd be able to play the games. However, this fee is waived once you order something over 100 pesos, which I think is good good 128076

On the menu is a variety of sandwiches, pastas, rice meals and milkshakes. Prices are all quite affordable at around 150 per dish. I got their Creamy Crispy Mushroom pasta and it was good! My friend got their Beef Salpicao but he said the ulam to rice ratio was rather imbalanced haha.

As for their board games, they offer a bunch, displayed on shelves on the side from familiar ones to less well-known ones. They also have game masters available to help you out if needed.

Heads up, though, the place can get quite packed and noisy as people get all riled up and competitive around you 128514128514 so that's something to keep in mind haha. Not a place to "chill".
