OLA! Ilocandia foodtrip last April 30 late in the evening.

It was a fun and tiring day 2 trip last April 30 and we arrived in the evening at our hotel. The following day will be leaving for Manila already so this is our only chance for a free time for food trip. We went to La Tabacallera Lifestyle Center in Laoag for a certain restaurant , but so sad we didn't make it, it's closed and were 10 mins late so we look for an available restaurant and most were closed as they closed very early. We spot this Tacos Del Norte.

The place was nice and has Mexican ambiance. We got two soft tacos and churros and the taste was extra ordinary. The price was affordable and the service was fast. Guess what they have wifi connection too.

Glad to have an Ilocandia food trip before leaving for Manila.

Tacos Del Norte is owned and managed by Mike and Alma, who also owns and manages Kapuluan Vista Resort [see reviews]. Since opening KPV, they have set the standards on resort dining in the Ilocos region. And as mentioned on my last review of KPV, my favorite dish on KPV's menu is their open-faced fish burritos.

Mike and Alma brought their take on Mexican comfort food by opening Tacos Del Norte. Though the menu differs from KPV, as expected, they maintain the same formula of having fresh everything from the vegetables they grow, to the meats and homemade tortillas to create mouth watering dishes at a smaller scale and affordable prices. Please don't expect the same burrito that you views on my review of KPV. But I assure you, you will have the same delicious quality.

This time around, I ordered their shrimp burrito. The shrimp was well marinated, and perfectly cooked. It was juicy and with a crisp in each bite. They are not stingy with shrimp! 128513

I also ordered their steak tacos. The minced steak had a lot of flavor. Topped with their homemade hot sauce, it made and epic meal out of it.

Mexican comfort food is all about the freshness, how well meats are marinated, and the love that is put into it. Because Mike and Alma came from my part of town, they have learned the tricks of the trait when it comes to Mexican food.

Happy eating!!!
