These set for 1,700? Maybe i'm to hooked at Kikufuji and i was looking for kikufuji's servings here at Tanabe. Service is good though that made me gave them an extra star but the o ly thing that i enjoyed most is the pancake. I guess they deserve another try but let me go bak to Kikufuji then we can try this resto qgain.

A good alternative to those bustling Japanese restos within the metro, Tanabe gives its own version of Jap specialties such as teriyakis, sashimis, and so on. It may never be at par with Nihonbashitei, but it is indeed worth the visit. Prices may shy some of us away, but the overall gastronomic experience was worth it.

Tanabe's one of the authentic Japs out there, considering their food doesn't taste cheap, the sushis' good and that Japanese businessmen are constant customers there as well.

Apart from seafood soba with bonito flakes, I usually order their steak bento which comes with miso soup, rice, gindara fish, sashimi, shrimp tempura and the steak over a bed of veggies. Yummy lahat! 128522 It comes with your choice of ice cream too! I like their green tea ice cream. Tanabe = busog moment.

One of the best Japanese restos we've tried (and we try a lot of jap places). Parking is limited so go early if you want to try it out.

Each piece of the salmon sashimi was not too small nor too big-just the right size. We also enjoyed the spicy tuna maki. My order was the tempura set and it came with miso clam soup, mixed tempura, rice, chawanmushi and dessert of fresh fruits. This I also recommend! Second time at this resto and both visits I was not disappointed.

Another one of our favorite japanese restaurants is Tanabe.
If you want authentic Japanese Food then you should go here. We love how all the dishes are prepared-delicious and with very fresh ingredients. Even the wasabi is prepared by the restaurant from scratch - the owner himself showed us how it is done.

Service here is excellent. The staff members are very experienced and accommodating. The service of food is quick even if you order a lot. Some of the rooms, however, are really cold so we suggest that you bring a jacket with you when dining here.

We also suggest that you make reservations in advance as lots of people dine here everyday. We like the tables in somewhat private rooms. There are several of those so if you want to stay there, it is better to make reservations.

Anyway, on the the food. I checked the menu here on looloo and noticed that they didn't have the set meals. We usually order the set meals here. It comes with miso soup, sushi/sashimi, salad, rice, meat/fish, and dessert. Then we would order additional ala carte items for more sushi/sashimi/appetizers/viands.

My boyfriend loves the US Ribe Eye Steak (Php820.00). It comes with 2 different sauces, stir fried vegetables, fresh salad, rice and miso soup. The meat is juicy, and very tasty. As you can see from the picture, it is full of garlic which I guess adds to the taste.

As an alternative to the US Rib Eye, we also like to order the Steak and Prawns (Php780.00). This is the equivalent of the surf and turf I guess. Like the former dish, this is delicious, flavorful, and comes with the soup, etc. These dishes are actually good for sharing for 2 but since we are eating machines, we get one each.

For the other set meals, we would also usually order the Tempura Kaku Bento (Php590.00) and the Gindara Kaku Bento (Php680.00). If we aren't getting additional ala carte tempura, I get the tempura bento, but if we are ordering tempura and I feel like eating fish, I get the gindara bento. Everything is delicious. The dressing of the fresh salad has a light taste - no overpowering mayonnaise taste. It's soo good! The miso soup is hot and tasty! The gindara steak - oh my goodness! It's so tender, and the sauce and flavor that they put in it is just perfect. You would think that the serving is small but actually, it's not! It's a thick portion of fish and as you eat it, you'll find that you are almost having a hard time finishing it because you are already getting full. I say almost because it's too good too, so you won't stop eating it. The shashimi served with the bento are all fresh and like I said, even their wasabi is fresh. It tastes very different compared to wasabi of other restaurants and you will realize which ones are just powdered or/instant wasabi after you taste this!

We also ordered additional appetizers like the kaki yaki butter (Php400.00), which consists of grilled oysters with lemon butter sauce (one of my favorites - it has te perfect buttery taste to it), tekka maki and inari. All are delicious.

I noticed that even if you eat alot, you don't feel that heavy/gross/nauseous feeling you get when you overeat. I suppose it has something to do with the fresh ingredients and authentic Japanese cooking style! You feel full, but it's not the bad kind of full feeling. It's a full but light (?) feeling! It's hard to explain but I'm sure you'll get what I mean once you dine there.

We love this place for its excellent service, very accommodating staff, very fresh ingredients, delicious authentic Japanese food and overall wonderful dining experience that we have every time we go here. Food is quite expensive but I think it is worth the price, given the quality of food and service. We highly recommend this restaurant in this particular branc (we agree with Allan D that this branch is way better than the MOA branch where service is slow and for some reason, the items are more expensive)! 128151

"Authentic Japanese Food"! This resto gives you a real taste of Japanese cuisine. The miso soup was great! It was serve in a small bowl but we could hardly finish it. The yakisoba was good and the tempura was even better!

Authentic and fresh Japanese food!

After being greeted "irasshaimase" by the staffs we proceeded to the seats near the sushi bar because we want to see the chefs as they make their sushis and sashimis. There are a lot of Japanese people eating their lunch there. After we have settled down, they served us their service drink which is green tea. The place has a nice japanese feel and you can see the seafoods that they have on their sushi bar and you can tell that they are oh so good and fresh. We ordered shake(salmon) sashimi, makimono mariawase(sushi platter) for share then they have gyu don, katsudon, gyu yanagawa and I have beni shake(salted salmon) shioyaki set.
I have tasted everything and they are all so good! The salmon sashimi was very nice. The cuts were equal and the fresh wasabi with it makes it perfect. The beni shake that i have is served with raddish, rice, cold somen noodles with sauce, salad and miso soup. The miso soup is very good and it has clams in it. The salted salmon has a nice crisp skin but the flesh was cooked perfectly and it tastes so good. The Japanese owner was there in the sushi bar making sushis with the other chefs there and he was so kind to us that he allowed us to ask him questions about their food and we then we later knew that his daughter was actually our batchmate/classmate in CSB. He even called her and let my groupmate speak to her but the signal was so crappy that she can't hear her. When we are almost done eating our meals, the owner gave us complimentary green tea ice cream and fresh fruits. The food plus the service charge are very pricey but if you would think about the quality of ingredients, service, and presentation of food, the price was all worth it. 128077 This is definitely a must try Japanese resto here in manila. 128522

Closest to being called an authentic japanese resto... At an affordable price.

Though not at par w Sugi or Tsukiji , taste wise is quite impressively close to authentic japanese ...

Try the Grilled Salmon head!!!

Tip:!suggest to eat in Malate i/o of their
Moa branch as the service there sucks!!!
