I used to love Tao Yuan because they really do have good haianese chicken and platters. But my latest experience was just flat out disappointing. I don't know if it's because we ordered so-so dishes, they changed staff, or it just wasnt a good time to visit Tao Yuan.

Char siu was cold, watery, and tasted like filipino barbeque. In short, it was not what char siu should taste like. Sotanghon with crab was too salty. I get that that kind of crab is expensive but to be billed 1770php+ for a dish in that amount of serving and taste? It's not worth it. The prawns and broccolis were also salty. I love prawns a lot and am usually the one to eat most of the prawns in a dish like that but tonight, I only had one. :( The asparagus dish's serving was also too small (500php).

Everything just fell flat. The only good dishes we had was the haianese chicken and the chinese noodles. The complimentary peanuts were great. Service sucked tonight except for the waiter who took care of changing our plates on time and was alert. The soup we wanted was out of stock, when we changed into another, it was still out of stock. When we agreed to get the wintermelon soup since it was available, they didnt even serve it. The waiter said it wasnt available. Even asking for the bill took so long.

It's hard for me to take this in because I do love Tao Yuan, but tonight is just so disappointing.

Had dinner here with a bunch of my parents' friends and I think I overate.... Everything was too good! 128525 My favorites were the fresh shrimp, Hainanese chicken, lechon, birthday noodles, and the fried bread that came with the chili crab haha. I didn't eat the crab cuz I was too stuffed and I don't know how to eat crab..... 128555

You can choose ala carte or shabu. Both are excellent!

For ala carte, must orders are Laksa Noodle Soup and Fish Curry which is the picture. It takes about 20minutes to prepare so best to order ahead of time. Singaporean food at its finest!

For parking, they have an open space beside the restaurant. You can have your ticket validated and parking is free already.

This is one of our go-to Chinese restaurants. Food is really good, but its kinda pricey though.

The Lechon Kawali is a must try! The skin is really crispy and the meat is soft. It isn't too oily and is cooked just right.

Another dish that you should try is the Simon-Style Steamed Fish. I don't think this is on the menu and I don't even know how we came to know about it, but my grandfather ordered it for CNY and it is hella good.

They Hainanese Chicken had a generous amount of serving considering that we only ordered half portion size.

We ordered too much food and had to take home the Cha Misua and for some reason, it tastes better when reheated.

It isn't included in the picture, but another must try dish is the Crab Rice. It kinda takes long to cook so its better to order this in advance or when you aren't in a hurry or that hungry yet. All I can say is that its worth the wait. They also give hand gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty.

All in all, its a good restaurant. They also have dimsum and shabu-shabu if you don't feel like eating ala carte 128076

Hainanese chicken & it's boneless ... Yum!!!!... But it use to be a lot better .. Chicken skin was thicker like the authentic ones or I'm just don't hv much of any appetite lately.

Crispy pork is tender, succulent savory meat & skin so crunchy

Roasted pork can be more soft but still very tasty & juicy

Steam egg with seafood & broccoli was good ... Light & delicate & expertly seasoned to my liking

Laksa was so flavorful with the right heat perfect blending of the milky coconut creaminess with the rich laksa curry stock & loaded with generous big plump & fresh sweet seafood & bouncy squid balls

What can i say... I love Haianese Chicken... Its juicy, healthy and delish!

The steam fish fillet with garlic is as always juicy and well seasoned.

Hubby asked me to have lunch with him near DOJ so i suggested Tao Yuan Malate. If i am not mistaken it is their 1st restaurant in Manila.

With their famous Chinese, Singaporean and of course the Hotpot you can choose the wide array of great food on their menu.

Tao Yuan is one of the top must to go place for family occasion and comfort food dinning,

One of the best restaurants that serves good Singaporean foods. The Chili Crab is best eaten with fried mantou. Love the special beef brisket too.

Awesome laksa, equally good hainan chicken and mango fish. The chilli crab is also very well done. They also serve dimsum and shabu shabu, which are good alternatives to the usual ala carte food.

You should try the Chilli Crabs here! The best! Well, at least here in the Philippines ;) Nothing beats Chilli Crabs in Singapore...

Don't forget to order fried man tao (they also have the steamed one although I still recommend the fried one) which you will dip on the remaining Chilli sauce after you devour the crabs! Btw they give you disposable plastic gloves if you don't want to mess up your hands cause the yummiest way to eat crabs is to use your hands ;)

Btw you should go to this branch which is the original! I've tried the other branches and unfortunately the quality is different. Although the Malate branch is far from our house we would still venture out to eat there cause its worth it.

Try also Hainanese Chicken (just like the original Singapore style) and the Seafood Laksa (really flavorful thick broth with just the right amount of spicyness for me). They also have curry fish balls, something not available widely in similar restaurants around town.

Hamham (so-so) food. Overhyped much.

Okay so I have this friend who kept on raving about Tao Yuan's Cereal Prawn, Mango Lapu-Lapu and Hainanese Chicken. I tried them all and found them just okay. I like the cereal on the cereal prawn (in fact, pinapak ko sila!Lol) but the batter was too thick and the prawns weren't that huge. They just looked huge because of the thick coating. 127844

I also felt like they murdered fresh Lapu-Lapu by frying it! What's the point of eating freshly catched fish from the aquarium if you're just going to fry it?128031 So I didn't really appreciate this dish. The Hainanese chicken was so-so for me.

I liked the mushroom soup (with scallop, I think). It's a clear soup and very tasty. The server also recommended the mixed seafood served in lettuce bowl and I liked this one too, but generally I felt that their food's not worth their price tag. 128184
