I was brought up in Bacolod born in Ilo-ilo City. We lived near La Paz where my family would always go to for groceries and eat batchoy.

Batchoy is a pairing of two Filipino favorites; Chicharon and Pancit.

Batchoy in Ted's festival branch was okay. It was a far cry from the original batchoy I've tasted. Did try venturing some places here in the metro that would offer authentic batchoy but none found as of the moment.

Batchoy in La Paz, Ilo-ilo is an obvious "kompletos recados". It is served with a generous amount of noodles or "MIKI" among hiligaynons, topped with cuts of pork, pork liver, and chicken breast. What makes it addictingly good are chopped spring onions together with some crushed chicharon and a few small portions of it.

Hope Ted's and other places here in the metro that offers La Paz Batchoy become less commercial because it's disappointing dahil namimiss din ng mga ilonggo yan na nasa maynila. Hehe
