We spent our February long weekend in Tepanee Beach Resort in Malapascua.  At first I thought it was the jologs way of saying the name "Tiffany" but apparently it's a mash up of the owners name according to one local staff.

Malapascua as a destination is 4 hours away from the Mactan International Airport aside from the 45 min. boat ride from Maya Port on the northern part of Cebu.  We arranged for the private transfer to and from the island, but now knowing how organized the bus and boat schedules are - we could have opted to ride those instead and save the moolah.

Malapascua is a divers paradise which explains that nearly every resort offers diving trips and diving lessons - and it also explains the abundance of foreigners in the island. In fact, in Tepanee - we were the only Filipino guests as everyone else in the resort were all foreigners at that time. Most of them being Italians too!

As for the actual resort, everything was handled nicely so we really enjoyed our trip. We got the room facing the sea which was Php3800 a night which includes breakfast in Amihan Restaurante also owned by Tepanee. The room has it's own personal refrigerator, heated water shower, your own cabinet with safety deposit box and a rack made of bamboo. Local worksmanship and materials were used in the rooms, and we actually got to stay in a newly refurbished room! Outside is a lounge area where we stayed most of the time as it was very relaxing and refreshing - didn't encounter insects too thanks I guess to the electronic diffuser for insects they give and the anti-mosquito coil which was really effective.

Tepanee being located on the corner of the island, you actually have access to both Logon and Bounty Beach. That corner gives you practically a semi-private beach as well at the back of the resort.

We loved the north beach of the island though coined as Bantigue Cove by the locals, though access from the main town is via a rented motor bike for Php50 per way.

The staff were all really nice and accommodating, mistaking us as foreigners most of the time though and they are all well-versed in English. We won't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone who will ask us about it!

*they have their own resto and bar which open during the day, wifi available only at the area near the restaurant
*the room we stayed in had ac and ceiling fan, 1 double bed and a single bed, a small refrigerator, a safe and a modern bathroom, you can also see the relaxing view of the sea from your bed
*the room has a balcony with an amazing view of the sea & a rack for drying wet clothes
*the beach and the front office of the resort was quite far from our room, but I didn't mind the sometimes off road walking and walking in dimly lit paths
*the resort had the cleanest beach and waters on the island, the more public beaches have become littered with trash
*there are only a few lounging chairs, so, it is best to reserve a chair for yourself with the beach towel provided
*a little pricey but worth it
