Why, Terry? WHY?

You know that thing they say that expectations lead to disappointment? Well, I experienced it in this place first hand.

I was expecting this place to be better than Skye or any Spanish restaurant because 1. The food is a bit expensive, 2. It is a good place to dine.

‼️ Super Paella Parellada (P890) - We chose this over the others because it had a mixture of Spanish chorizo, chicken, pork and seafood. It seemed a bit interesting to have everything in 1 dish. It was good but not the best I've tasted. We asked for more lemon thinking that the taste might get even better but it was just the same. It didn't enhance any of the flavours. It was flavourful but it lacked something and I cannot pinpoint what that is.

❕Jamon Serrano and Chicken Croquettes (P320/6pcs) - I really didnt like this one. It was popular among all the reviews I came across so we thought of getting one ourselves but this was just something I didn't enjoy. The bechamel taste was barely there. The chicken and Jamon was also missing in action, it felt as if those were not included on what was stuffed in there.

Ambience was undeniably perfect for dates/quiet nights tho!!

Lunch meeting with the boss in Makati and it was a choice between Apartment 1B and Terry's. It's been quite awhile since I last visited Terry's so I suggested the latter. We got the following for our meeting feast:

❣ Gambas al Ajillo (classic, sizzling, spicy and garlicky Spanish favorite, cooked in Arteoliva olive oil) - I am not a fan of spicy food but this one is so good that even if my mouth was burning, I kept on having it with their house bread dipped in the oil even!

❣ Chorizo in Piggy Back (famous chorizo Terry, flambeed with sherry brandy) - I have always loved their chorizo especially when it is being cooked on the table. This time around though, no pig show... But still the same chorizo goodness!

❣ Paella Negra (paella prepared with Spanish squid ink, laced with seafood and served with alioli sauce) - the boss asked which I prefer and even if it's a bit embarrassing to have squid ink stains on your lips and teeth, I still went for this and I think he regretted asking me on this one... Hehehe!

❣ Coffee and Tocino De Cielo (truly divine butter from heaven is a close relative of the flan, though richer and sweeter) - while the description stated it's richer and sweeter than the leche flan, it was surprisingly not as sweet and I actually enjoyed this one.

Terry's has always been consistent, IMHO. Six years ago, we frequent their Podium branch at least once a month and six years later in another branch, the same Spanish goodness is still there.

The only thing tricky in this branch is parking and I was just lucky to occupy one of the 3-hour slots right across.

Decided to try this place again since it was nearby. Ordered the Chisturrada as a take out. It was 80% cooked. Disappointing considering its price. There are still no good Spanish restos in Salcedo village. Alba's is still the best value for money. Calderon is just too salty.

It's been a while since my last visit to this Terry's branch and I was actually surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. But kudos kapatid Yina, na-one up mo ako dun. You're a resident ninja narin 128527

So after a successful trip to Ramenba, kapatid Yina M, uts Kirby G, and I decided to continue the night at Terry's. Gutom pa bulate ni namin e. 128517

This still by far my favorite Terry's branch because of how beautifully set up it is. It can pass off as a mini art gallery but better because it has wine! 127863

Though we had a bowl each of glorious ramen, we ordered the ff:
✔️ paella Victoria - had generous serving amount and lots of seafood. Loved it especially after drizzling some lemon
✔️ jamon and chicken croquette - extremely delicious and the cream cheese inside was insane
✔️ French merlot wine - perfect catalyst for all the dishes... And it helped lubricate some emotional conversations 128517

Until the next eat up + wine up.

Ps: kapatid Yina M, we're slowly converting utol into a wine drinker 128077128077

Kirby G Super seafood paella, please?
Me: An order of jamón and chicken croquette as well.
JP G a bottle of French wine.

Who's the alcoholic now? And all this after eating at Ramenba.

I found the shrimp in the paella quite tough. I like Las Paellas' better. But the croquettes! Breaking the croquette in half reveals a trail of oozing cheese, this paired well with the paella. Something was missing with the flavor of the paella that I remembered they did not serve lemon! Ahhhh, it tasted much better with lemon.

Ambience here is calming. We had the whole second floor to ourselves while the rest of the world were at the first and third floors. It's like having an alternate world to ourselves. #OA

Wednesday nights are usually ladies' nights in bars. My two good friends Kunie G and Ginny B wanted a nightcap and good thing that Kirby G and Chichi T were with us to recommend a few places! Around the corner of apartment 1B is Terry's. As we enter, I was immediately drawn to the place as it wasn't noisy with chatter and loud music! Though rolling laughter is a good sign of friends and acquaintances being inebriated, we were not welcomed with that tonight. Was it because it was Wednesday?

Terry's has two other floors that can accommodate a string of guests. Already i'm enjoying the fact that it's not full! We ordered a pitcher of sangria and started catching up on stories and laughter! Three of us ladies shared the pitcher for P550. Not a bad deal, though the wine could have been stronger.

Am kinda giddy about the idea that it looks like this branch doesn't get full! I would definitely go back! Now which of you alcoholics wanna come with me? 128522

I loved everything we ordered!!! chorizo on piggy back, capricho español, gnocchi, jamon serrano and chicken croquettas, baked oysters and marquesa (not shown here). I'll definitely go back to try their super paella, gambas, salpicao and soft shell crab risotto! The best!

Am starting to love white wine 128522 and of course, this restaurant! Been passing by this place for quite some time now, but I get intimidated by the looks of it. TOTALLY WRONG impression!9786️The food was really great and not THAT expensive 128512

Had soft-shelled crab risotto, Angel's nest (shrimp/scallop pasta), gambas, Jamon Serrano with chicken croquettes, Vinho Verde, sansrival and Marquesa de Chocolate (ohh this one is just pure 10084️!) I would really come back to try more of its dishes!!!

Happy Friday indeed!!

I'm a big fan of Risotto plus anything with truffle! This one failed me..the rice is undercooked 128530 and lacks the aroma of the truffle in it. Its just milky cream like risotto. I got disappointed with it, because it is Terrys Selection! They're supposed to have good food with the prices they offer 128541 Thankfully the mushroom soup is so good and chunky. 1 star for their ambiance & interior 128539

First time to dine here with a friend. Wanted to try Spanish cuisine and he said that this is one of his favorite restos for that so... 128516

The place itself was nice. The servers were very attentive and they have their kitchen open so customers can see what they do. The ambiance is pretty formal (for me) with their displays of various paintings and racks of red wine.

He got porkchop with potato fries (?) and I got the Gnocche (did I spell this right?). We also ordered sherries for our drinks. His food was good daw. Mine was okay. The cream was just right, not too heavy. The potato noodles were alright, albeit different. The mushrooms were soooo good. 128525 too bad I was not able to finish everything since I got full pretty quick. All in all a nice experience.

First time here.

It is a nice and cozy place. It's menu features mainly Spanish dishes. It does have a high end feel to it and it will intimidate your pockets as soon as you enter. A meal here will easily set you back at least P500. But like anything expensive comes the expectation of superb quality, and this is where Terry's delivers.

The food, delicious.

For starters, the Tortilla Española, a Spanish potato omelette, was really good. The Fabada Asturiana, a bean casserole with Spanish sausage and Serrano ham, was also served. I did not get to try it but it was certainly pleasing to the eyes. The Paella Negra was what I had which I immensely enjoyed.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and we were attended to very nicely. I will return. Highly recommended as a date place.
