When I was working in Cubao a few eons ago, the lot infront of SM Cubao and Shopwise were both empty. When I visited last week, the busy Cubao area became more abuzz with new mixed use buildings and Novotel Manila filling in the void. It was a long time coming and speaking with their very friendly Marketing Manager it shows it was a wise decision to put up Araneta Center's first 5 star hotel. The 6th Pool Bar and Lounge is a hidden gem in Cubao. This is the first time I've seen a hotel dedicate a large airconditioned restaurant outlet for the pool area. It has a good seating capacity perfect to lounge with family and friends. Fridays are even more special with their Freedom Fridays (EDM anyone?) promo - where you can swim, party and have a drink for only 300++ pesos!

Tuna skewers from Roxas and Pancetta stick with coriander P550 - this is an excellent pair with your drink or bubbly! The tuna was fresh and the pancetta was seared enough to retain a certain level of crunch without overcooking the tuna.

Sharing Platter with Hummus Baba Ghannouj and Tzatziki P500 - pita bread with various dips. I wish the bread was more though because there was left over dip that could use some bread lovin.

Murg Tikka (Chicken) P450 - moderately spiced chicken, moist and juicy.

Pizza Lungga with organic rucola P450 - crusty and chewy, the greens was a good pair to the pizza's tomato base.

Pizza Bianco and rosemary P550 - i'm not really a fan of white pizza but this totally turned the table! It had a reasonable amount of cheese but was not salty which i liked.

We also had a couple of hard drinks which I enjoyed. If the Freedom Fridays promo is not enough reason for you to dropby at Novotel Manila, then try to check out their discounted deals at Novotel Manila Restaursnt outlets are offering discounted vouchers up to 40% off! Recommended for a dip or just to lounge and forget time.

freedom fridays are the best at the 6th bar at novotel! great food and drinks. Their bar manager makes 'sustainable' drinks which uses ingredients from fruits and spices usually discarded because of the imperfect cuts. The food is flavourful and is always top quality.

A few recommendations and must-tries:
Tuna skewers from Roxas and Pancetta stick with coriander P550
Sharing Platter with Hummus Baba Ghannouj and Tzatziki P500
Murg Tikka (Chicken) P450
Pizza Lungga with organic rucola P450
Pizza Bianco and rosemary P550
Kofta P450

If you're looking for a place to crash on a friday night - bring your swimsuits and hop on over to Novotel's 6th Bar!

It’s my 7th foodie meet up and I go every invite for the love of eating. It also involves discovering new places, meeting friends and the unbiased criticism live to restaurant owners, chefs or their reps.

Its my first time in this hotel which opened October 2015. I didn’t know there was until I got here. The place is amazing. Spacious, designed well and really clean. Must visit!

The food itself wasn’t as spectacular though. They’re new and looking forward for better days. We had the usual a lot on meet ups but the pace of this was really slow. More than 3 hours from the time we sat down.

I’d like to critic mostly their Pizza which done audacious with Longanissa and Tocino as toppings. It’s a wrong pick for many reasons. One big one is cheap to serve and more so because they didn’t make it themselves. Another one is that it didn’t jive well with a perfectly baked dough and cheese.

The Caramel Butterscotch Panna Cotta was too dense and heavy. There was also too much syrup. Too sweet for sweet tooths like me.

The Linguinni Pasta with Aligue is the only bright spot at least for that night. The theme was Filipino European and this one got it right. Aligue was tamed well and complimented with Black Pasta.

The Dinakdakan had lots of Mayo. I don’t eat mayo but that’s not there fault. It was too much on their portion that made me dislike it. And that lived in the middle tasted like Reno Liver Spread. I hope it isn’t.

Chicken needed a savior in the hands of its gravy. Unfortunately it came in pea sizes. It would have been appreciated with more seasoning.

I hope my review wasn’t harsh. Just being too honest I guess. I still love the staff who were super friendly and accommodating.

I will come back for the buffet!!!! Thank you for hosting us.
