I was able to try the cakes in the Baker’s Table when we did a crawl in Diliman, Quezon City.

The small bakeshop accommodated us and served the bestsellers:

My favorite was the award winning Butterball Caramel Cake. I like the sweet flavor of the caramel with a touch of saltiness in the cake. Another one was the Choco Mallows Cake. It’s like you’re eating a giant Choco Mallows.

Overall, I was fascinated with the 1990’s favorite candies and chocolates turned into delectable and mouthwatering cakes.

Thank you Muffy T for the invite.

I ordered their Butterball Cake!!!
The cake was just heavenly. It was alright and not that sweet. The Place is small but cozy. The flavors of their cakes were actually cool and unique because they were based on some of the famous sweets available here in the Philippines and reminded me of the things I used to eat when I was a kid.
Next time i would definetely try their flat top and Haw-Haw cake.

I recently heard of this novel cake place online and right away I planned a trip here out of curiosity. The Baker's Table has been around 3 years and have been serving your Filipino candies way back and turning them into cakes.

Because of its recent resurgence, the cakes have been disappearing faster. Last night, my friend and I only got to try 2. Just two out of the more than 10 cakes they have. The Hany cake was delicious but its resemblance to the flaky chocolate is not too vivid. Its chiffon parts are soft and fluffy, its cream light and not as sweet. The Haw Haw Milk was better, it's creamy and should be an easy favorite to milk lovers.

They serve coffee besides just cakes. We got to share their bold blend of Hazelnut, it's a must try. Other cakes that are popular include Flat Tops and the Butterball. Too bad they weren't available. Perhaps another trip?

A few months back I had the good fortune of attending one of Manila's dessert scenes most anticipated events... Lifestyle Inquirer's Best Desserts book launch. And this is a great showcase of all things sweet and decadent. One of the featured bakers is The Baker's Table of Maginhawa, QC. Their claim to fame is their interpretation of beloved Filipino candies into the most inspired cakes. One of these creations is the Butterball Cake. What i like about this cake is that it is light and not too sweet. One slice is good with a pair of tea or coffee. Or in my case with a tall cold glass of milk. Super indulgent. This is something nice to introduce to balikbayan friends and family to rekindle the long lost love of childhood treats. Recommended.

Had dessert here with a friend after a filling lunch in Sikatuna. Have read great reviews about the place and was excited that they served desserts, with flavors reminiscent of childhood chocolates and sweets.

The place was located right in from of Maginhawa's StrEAT restos. It had a comfy and retro vibe to it. Fortunately, we were the only customers when we went there as the place was tiny.

What I didn't like about the experience was the customer service. The woman stationed there barely accommodated us. She assumed that we knew the flavors of the cakes in display--fine, there were candies beside each cake that I can only assume were the flavors. But would have appreciated it if she at least stood up and acknowledged us, instead of staying on her chair with eyes glued to the television.

We ordered the HawHaw and Hany cakes. The base of the cake was moist (just how I like it) and I could indeed taste subtle hints of Hany, combined with peanut butter and HawHaw, partnered with light cream filling. Almost worth the PHP110 each.

After eating, she just shouted out how much our bill was. There was no bill or receipt handed over to us. We paid and that was it.

Overall, will still try next time but will probably order to-go. Wouldn't want to bother the staff who seemingly just wanted to watch TV than do her job. 128528

After our dinner at Artsy Cafe, we had our dessert at Bakers Table were we ordered Flat Tops and Butter Candy Cake. I like their cakes coz the sweetness is just right.

Their cakes are made from the local candies like flat tops, butter candy, milky moo, XO coffee candy, caramel ball and many more.

Food: 6/10
Ambiance: 8/10
Staff and Service: 2/10

Overall Ratings:
The cakes that we wanted to try weren't available so we still chose to order their Braso de Mercedes and their Mik-mik cake. The braso is a 7/10 while the Mik-mik cake is a 5/10. There was nothing special about those two cakes, it wasn't moist and both were try. It's like they left their cakes for a week or so and waited for it to be sold or what. We got pissed when the server gave us service waters filled with dead ants. Like really? Why? Then the waiter ignored us and was busy reading a pocket book or what. Sad to say, they failed to satisfy us.

First time here. We ordered haw haw and flat tops, they tasted okay for the first few bites but we couldn't finish them both because they turned out to be TOO SWEET for us. Too bad we left half of our cakes untouched, such a waste of food 128559

One of our Maginhawa pitstops was here at Baker's Table.

The place is just small and can accommodate roughly 10 people. By the time we got there past lunch, there were just 2 flavors being served - the Haw Haw (milk candy) Cake and the Ricoa Flat Tops Chocolate Cake.

Of course we got the two just to try. I didn't get to taste much of the main ingredients for both, and quite not impressive for me. So-so, I must say. The texture was just chiffon with the layers of haw haw or the Flat Tops. It was too sweet for me when we reached halves of the cakes already!

Oh, and to add, the server was not so friendly either; so bit of so turn-off. But nonetheless, at least I got to spend a nice Saturday with my foodie friends. 128513

Two words: Butterball Cake! Remembering your childhood can either be joyful or painful (since it shows your real age128540). This reviewer used to devour Haw-haw and Butter ball candies. Someone had an idea to turn some of our favorite candies into cakes. The butterball cake was just heavenly. Chocnut cake was alright and not that sweet. Place is small but filled with antique (yeah some of you are guilty to have used/owned some of their displays). Definitely would try the Haw-Haw cake someday.

The baker's table is a dessert place where your childhood favorite candies are turned into a cake! Yes, a cake!

So I ordered this Chocnut cake worth P110. The cake was so delectable! I wasn't expecting that this cake would taste good because it looks like it's just an ordinary cake but my palate said it was the bomb!

You can also try their:
💟 Pochi cheesecake (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED because this was the flavor that i have first tasted, my friend gave it to me as a pasalubong 128155)
💟 Mikmik cake
💟 Haw haw cake
💟 Peter's butterball cake
💟 Flat tops cake

i forgot the others! 128532

but it's definitely worth a try! tbh, i always crave for their cakes but unfortunately my schedule won't allow me to go back! But I will definitely go back as soon as I have my vacant! My taste buds misses them so much huhu!!!

I liked the hawhaw cake because it's delicious as it is, not that it tastes like the candy...... But what really surprised me is when I went the first time and a bit disappointed because there's no more hawhaw cake, and the only visually appetizing to try is the butterball cake. I asked for a slice, and when I started to have my first fork, it's loaded w/ icing and Hello! It does taste like the candy!!!!! And I'm happy! Bakers table claims Itself baking candy cakes and they're successful on this... But not all cakes tastes what they represent, like the hany cake, maybe they could've drizzled crushed
hany bars....going back to the butterball, I wasn't able to finish coz it's too sweet : (
