Because the Almond Ice Blended was phase out, I ordered for hazelnut instead. Not as good but I like it also. 128540

I like the interior of this branch + their air con was very cold. Very very nice for this "oven-weather". 128539

Summer's here and everyone is going out of the city for a relaxing but sometimes stressful drive up north.

We Southies simply dread passing through the metro traffic as it usually takes almost two hours to cross the Metro from Alabang to Balintawak, particularly on a Saturday morning.

After moving through the urban jungle at a worm's pace, nothing is more relaxing than to spend a few minutes of your travel time at this oasis just after entering NLEX. It was only last year that new shops opened here at the expanded Petron NLEX in Marilao, Bulacan. You wouldn't be out of place as most of the foodie places found in malls are also here. To our surprise, almost all restos are full! Good thing we were able to grab a seat at nearby Army Navy where we had our breakfast.

Sadly, there's no coffee. Breakfast isn't and will never be complete without a cup of hot brew! The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is just a stone's throw away from where we are. I had to go there right after I finished my rice meal, and Kandyce still gobbling up her tocino. Mommy Espie understood how I craved and gave me a positive nod to go.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf has become an ideal
place for those who seek refuge from the hungry metro crowd. With its usual airy ambiance, a
cup of coffee is all you need to savor the moment and seize the day.

The ground floor area is expansive with both indoor and outdoor seating. A cozy second floor is available if you wish to be alone and have the sipping moment to yourself. There's no line at the restroom unlike in the neighboring stores.

Skipping the fancy drinks, I got myself a simple cappuccino - one shot only - just enough to awaken my already numb eyes and brain, still wary from the smoke-belching trucks and buses, and motorcycles crisscrossing left and right.

I had to stay here and take a few minutes for myself. The interior just jives as I take my first sip. What I do like about Coffee Bean (anywhere, perhaps) is the availability of open space and light which gives you a feeling of solitude.

Truly, this very short stay has magically turned my already stressful morning into pure delight. After a few sips and a quaint time alone, I already felt energized.

I headed back to Army Navy with Kandyce still gobbling her tocino. And there I was, now recharged and ready to take on the open road once more.

Tried their Moroccan Mint tea latte which was a mix of peppermint, chocolate and milk. Surprisingly good . I wanted something peppermint-y but the chocolate added a nice kick.
