Back here again with my balikbayan friend. Ordered our favorite, Country Club's Crispy Pata. Crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. Daing na bangus and Bulalo were good too! Washed it all down with mais con yielo. We were hoping we could experience a bit of a cold weather up there but man it was so hot! :D

Been here a couple of times to shoot a wedding. This is a favorite wedding prep location and reception for most couple's having heir destination weddings in luzon area due to the weather and great atmosphere. This photo was taken last Dec 2015, the weather is so nice sobrang cozy and presko. I want to go back! Wish I could :)

I have lost count on how many times I visited Tagaytay last year. R and I head there whenever we need a quick getaway from the busy Manila life. Though it is sometimes traffic in Tagaytay, at least we get to enjoy the slightly cooler and fresher breeze. And last Christmas, my family opted to head there too and we decided to stay in Tagaytay Highlands for a much needed family bonding.

Hello, Tagaytay Highlands Sports Center Veranda!

Whenever R and I visit Highlands, we would head to The Highlander Steakhouse for some of its delectable prime ribs. But this time around, my family opted to try the restaurant in the Sports Center Veranda for some casual comfort dishes.

The menu is extensive and a mix of different cuisines. I went with Breaded Pork (PHP280) while my sister ordered Mac and Cheese (PHP280) and cheese quesadillas for my mom. I also ordered a glass of buko shake and a bowl of mango caramel ice cream for dessert.

Service was quite fast as food was served in less than 10 minutes. I guess it also helps as we were the only diners that time.

I didn’t get to taste my mom’s quesadillas but it was a bestseller with the kids. I guess it was really cheesy for kids to love it.

My sister’s mac and cheese was quite good. Not as flavorful as Borough’s or Kettle’s but it was savory enough to delight my taste buds.

It had a nice tart to it thanks to the generous dose of cheese and the macaroni was cooked firm, just the way I like it.

I had the teriyaki sauce of my breaded pork on the side as my sister wanted to get some too and she prefers tartar sauce over teriyaki. Odd.

The first thing I noticed was the thin cuts of pork and I instantly felt tricked as I do not get much pork. Good thing though that despite its thinness, the pork remained juicy. It was an okay dish. But it was not worth PHP280. I could get a better deal elsewhere.

I was surprised that they served the mango caramel with the meals. In my head I was thinking, “what were you guys thinking? That we’ll eat this along with our meals?! Are you serious?” I was able to keep my cool though as the servers quickly took back the dessert.

And when it was served again, it was… slightly icy. I guess they placed it in the fridge as is. If I remember it correctly, it is priced at PHP220. I was hoping that it would be at least an artisan ice cream but… it tasted like your usual Magnolia or Selecta ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce and topped with mango bits. I was not impressed and stopped after a spoonful. My cousins finished it halfheartedly.

I guess I’ll stick with Highlanders Steakhouse.

Celebrated new year's eve countdown with my family at the Sports Country Club.
We also had fun skeet shooting with bows like Peeta and Katniss and the kids got to try hoverboarding. Too bad the maze was wet so they were only allowed to use it on a small patch of dry land. The kids had an awesome time playing bowling too!
We had lunch at the Country Club and ordered Crispy Pata128077128077128077, inihaw na liempo, and pinakbet. They serve Japanese too so I ordered Uni sashimi and it was good! Their mais con yelo was yummy!
It was raining and foggy so we stayed indoors and played Star Wars Battlefront and Halo on XBox. 128526

This view welcomed us last Sunday at highlands. Cool, foggy and a little bit wet. London? Chos 128513 been going to highlands since I was in high school (secret kung anong taon yun!), we would go bowling, ride the cable car or just hang out in the sports center. There are signs of aging but I guess it is still pretty well maintained. I've also joined a couple of mtb races here a few years back.
There are many activities to choose from like fishing, mini golf and there's even a zoo. You can also go for a walk but be ready for steep hills 128517
Still one of my fave places to 'escape' to during the weekend.

I love celebrating Valentine’s Day, White Day (March 14), Black Day (April 14), Children’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s (including Chinese New Year) and every other occasion you could think of. It’s fun! My favorites are Children’s Day and Black Day (where those who did not get anything from Valentine’s and White Day sulk over a bowl of black bean noodles). This year’s White Day was planned out by R and it was a great day!

Hello, Tagaytay Highlands!

We left for Tagaytay around 11 a.m. and arrived past lunch time. Famished, we decided to have lunch at Tagaytay Highlands instead of the original plan of visiting Sky Ranch.

Since The Bistro Saratoga was nearer, we decided to go with that place for lunch. I decided to go for the make your own sandwich at PHP280. I chose roast beef with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mushroom and cheese. I also got a cup of tomato soup and strawberry shake. R, on the other hand, got a plate of carbonara.

The sandwich was served fast and it was pretty good! The focaccia bread was served warm and crunchy on the edges. The roast beef was a tad tough but juicy and flavorful. I loved it with the mushroom and cheese too!

The carbonara was very creamy though it was quite bland for my taste. The serving was pretty generous though.

The tomato soup had a light texture though it had that slight tanginess that I love from that soup. It would have been a good appetizer if only it was served earlier.

The strawberry shake was too sweet and it tasted quite artificial. I’ll definitely skip this one if I get to visit again.

Overall, it was a filling lunch. I loved the sandwich and the soup. It was a good way to start the meal.

Another late post. This was last summer. Kids had another playdate with friends.
This time, the kids tried bowling (with disco lights and sounds) and badminton for the first time and they liked it.
In the morning we all went for a swim before heading back to Manila.

We were supposed to celebrate new year's at Pico de Loro but our friend who invited us here insisted we stay and celebrate with them instead.
The countdown party which was held at the Country Club started at around 8pm and guests were treated to buffet dinnner which included roast turkey, lechon, pasta, salad, and a lot of other menu items but the quality was just ok.
The Spirit of 67 band played retro music from the 60s to the 80s.
There was wine toasting just before 12 midnight.
We were treated to a fireworks show that lasted almost 10 minutes I think to usher in the new year and drive away the evil spirits.
Happy new year!!!

On our first day, the kids went horseback riding, and visited the animal farm before checking into the apartment we rented at Pinecrest Village.
On our second day, we rode the Tram going down to Midlands, then the kids went horseback riding again. The boys rode the ATV on a course designed for kids while the girls including the moms went fishing.
The kids had an awesome experience they will never forget, especiially since they were with their friends.

Spent the remaining days of the holiday season at Tagaytay Highlands.
On our first day, we had late lunch at the Golfer's Lounge.
We waited for about an hour before we got a table. A big thank you to Banda Kawayan for entertaining us while waiting.
We ordered their signature dish, the Sizzling Jumbo Boneless Bangus and it was delicious. The Lechon Kawali was crunchy and yummy too! We also got grilled liempo and kare kare and lumpiang sariwa.
We made sure we ordered their famous turon with caramel dip and it was awesome.
It was a super windy, foggy and cold, 18deg weather day. Good thing there was no traffic on our way up. :D

Lovely ambiance in this place! The problem is, there are a lot of flies. Lol. Spectacular view, nonetheless! I love the turon. They gave some sort of special twist to it which made it a lot sweeter.

Didn't plan anything for Holy Week and we got really bored at home after staying in for two days. I insisted we go to Tagaytay on Black Saturday and good thing they were all game. I was hoping weather's gonna be a li'l cooler, but it's not. 128549128549

We had lunch at the Country Club and ordered the following:

✅ Sinigang na Bagnet- they loved it.
✅ Lechon Kawali- same meat as the sinigang, sans the soup. It was a huge slab of meat and really crispy!
✅ Gising gising and Pinakbet- my parents were raving about how good these veggie dishes were.
❎ Chicken inasal- looked undercooked because the meat still has some red spots. Their inasal was served with a Mang Tomas-ish sauce... weird! Toyomansi would have been better.
❎ Seafood Pasta- fail. Twas too salty!! Not gonna order this again. (I actually wanted the pizza but no one wants to share with me coz they wanted to eat rice. 128532)

But I have to deduct two stars coz: 1) when my sister was about to eat her sinigang, there was a small bee floating! 128029 We called the manager to complain. He looked shocked then he got the bowls and said he'll replace. I didn't hear him apologize though. 2) it was so hard to call the waiters attention! Kulang nalang tumayo kami para kalabitin sila. 128587

Anyhow, the view from the Country Club is just awesome. 128525

What can I say with the room, this is perfect for couples. Kind of kinky, it's always better to watch your partner take a shower than look at the television. ;) sorry, my uncle is such a photo bomber! Ha ha

Sizzling Jumbo Bangus! A must order at the Golfer's Lounge.128077 This is always part of our meal everytime we dine here.

You can also have this for take out (like what we did during the Holidays 128523). They pack the whole fish in a foil and give you the sauce in a separate container. Sorry, sizzling plate not included. 128540

We arrived early, the fog going down was thick and it was cold. We decided to have breakfast at the country club first before starting the shoot.

I had one of the american breakfasts. It was typical in taste, nothing spectacular but it wasn't average too. I liked the hot choco. The blueberry croissant was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The egg was perfectly cooked... Just the way I like it.

After the shoot, we had lunch at the other cafe, I forgot the exact name, the one where golfers hang and chill. 128513

We had bulalo, crispy pata, and their famous humongous bangus. Everything was good. 128077 the service was good as well. 128076

When you're planning to go to the Highlands, make sure you have a membership or atleast you're with someone who has one, otherwise, you won't be accomodated.
