I appreciated their Iced Cafe Mocha because I am fond of the sweet taste of coffee But did not enjoy their 1+1 Coffee Cubes and Street Fries. Both seem mediocre for me. They can do better.

Special thanks to Bella J. I learned about this hidden gem of UP Town. The place is located quite in the isolated part of the mall. Tried quite a few times finding this place finally found it. Located near along the side of CBTL and Healthy Option on the G/F of the Cinema Bldg of UP Town.

Love the artsy look of the place with that coffee shop vibe. Even the tables got a lovely colorful painting. Just a bit crowded inside where we were seated.

For the food we ordered a wide array of food and surprisingly price wise the food was affordable for their serving size. We started it out with the Spinach and Shroom. Healthy good starter. Love the mix of spinach, cheese, mushroom with the hint of truffle oil. Next appetizer was the steet fries for the kid. She really enjoyed this just make sure to remove the jalapeno. For the main dish I got the Wagyu Pares because of the unique presentation of it. Served in a stainless lunchbox. Nice bring back memories of elementary days haha. The wagyu cube pares was yummy. Love the sweet flavor of the pares combined with the soft wagyu meats. Goes well with the garlic rice mixed with chili oil. Also got to try the buttered fried chicken with ube waffle from my brother. I love the tender flavorful chicken but the waffle I want more ube flavor from it. Next the signature porkchop was huge. The meat was a fave of mine. A dish that you'll get coming back for more.

Overall this is a new go to place for me in UP town. Love it.

Back again at The Fat Seed in UP Town Center. I remembered when we had our Looloo Rendezvoos here so my family and i decided to have our Saturday dinner here .

The place was full, as expected . Glad there’s one more table vacant so that’s where we seated .

I had my favorite Kimchi fried rice with a slice of maple bacon 🥓, then, The Fat Seed Burger 127828, then first time to try the chicken wings , it’s good and has generous serving but the marshmallow cake that we ordered for our dessert medyo matigas.

Service was fast and food was good. Will try other dessert next time :

Fat Seed first opened in February 2018 and has garnered a huge following since then. I got to visit their restaurant back in August with my family since I've been reading good things about them. So when sister came back from Japan of course I wanted to take them somewhere nice for lunch. Back then it didn't disappoint. Well, except for one thing their ube waffle which for me it didn't taste like ube at all. Fast-forward to this week's rendezvooz.

Spinach Artichoke Dip (P265) Personally I found the dip too bland but still a nice way to start a meal.

Sonoma Salad (P265) love, love the balsamic vinegar. Some found it too much but it gave the veggies that zing it needed.

Grilled Cheese with Tomato Cream Soup (P295) tomato soup was good, tangy and combined with grilled cheese it had a little sweetness too it. I found comfort eating this dish.

TFS Signature PorkChop (P395) we found the meat too tough but the sauces on the side a nice complimenting flavors.

Truffle Mac n’ Cheetos (P295) i liked the cheesiness and texture of Cheetos with this mac n' cheese. I will order this next time and only this cause it was pretty filling!

Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (P385) One of my favorite dishes. It had this Japanese cream that was thick and flavorful kinda tasted like California maki.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325) at first, I said that I didn't want to try it anymore since I had it before so that others will have more portions. Good thing I didn't taste it since their ube waffle is now ube-r than ever. Love it! Chicken tasted delicious still.

Kimchi Fried Rice with a Slab of Maple Bacon (P315) my sisters enjoyed this before since they love spicy food and it still tasted the same which means they were able to retain the quality of their dishes.

Salted Egg Chicken Skin (P235) love love fried chicken skin it was crispy and just sinful. One concern though I didn't taste the salted egg that much.

Mango Rum Chicken with Cilantro Rice (P330) fell in love with its zesty flavors. I liked the cilantro rice that the spices and herbs didn't clash and not too overpowering.

Can't wait to go back and try their cocktails too. Besides their food and coffee they also serve alcoholic drinks.. My kind of restaurant.

Thank you Roegan T and Jessica G for the invite. 🧡 It was awesome seeing everyone again!

Comfort food + chill ambiance are the things that I usually consider when dining in. It's so good to enjoy delicious food with a relaxing ambiance, and The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery won my heart with these!

Amazing reviews are always reliable. I've been reading good feedbacks with this restaurant and thankfully, I've got the chance to try this on one of the looloo's rendezvoos'. With other fellow reviewers, The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery offered us some of their best sellers on their menu:

128261Sonoma Salad
For the appetizer, I tried this vegetable salad with balsamic-based sonoma dressing. It had an overpowering taste of the balsamic but it complimented well with the fresh ingredients.

128261Salted Egg Chicken Skin
If you remember the craze of salted eggs on chips (and everything), this one is their own version of it. I couldn't hardly taste the salted egg but still, this was so goood, especially if dip in the vinegar.

128261Grilled Cheese with Tomato Cream Soup
One of my faves. This cheese crusted with the cheese in the middle is the bomb! I liked it when dipped in the tomato cream soup with the slight taste of pizza flavor.

128261Kimchi Fried Rice with Homemade Bacon
Another crowd's favorite! I liked the mild spice of the kimchi and super good with the crispy bacon.

128261Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle
This belongs to one of their signature dishes. Their waffle is far different from the usual waffle because this has an ube flavorings. Chicken was tasty, too. This dish also comes with bacon infused maple syrup, salted egg sauce, and picked red onion to clean out the taste.

128261Truffle Mac n' Cheetos
Baked mac with crunchy cheetos on top. I found this unusual because of the cheetos. The truffle oil was overpowering the taste and smell of the food. This one's my least fave.

128261Spinach Artichoke Dip
Taste was good but I think it needed to be more creamy. Still, delicious appetizer though.

128261Mango Rice Chicken with Cilantro Rice
Chicken is marinated with mango rum with mango salsa on top. The two were surprisingly good with each other.

128261Hotate Soy Cream Pasta
Another best seller! I so loved this pasta because it's something new to my taste. This one was cooked in Washoku Style, a western influences for Japanese flavors. This soy cream infused pasta tasted like California Maki but it had no mayonaise in it.

128261Signature Pork Chop
One of their instagram-worthy dish that comes with sweet potato puree, creamy deli mustard sauce and homemade miso. Though the meat was a little bit hard to chew on, the taste was still good. The sweet potato gave this a nice twist. It's just unusual for me to have sweet potato with a meat.

128261LGBT (Lemon, Ginger, Basil, and Tea)
A refreshing drink which has grassy after taste because of the basil leaves. I would 100% recommend this drink for the first timers here!

I hardly couldn't decide what's the best for me because everything was soooo perfectly prepared. Almost all of the dishes that we tried was really yummy, not to mention how good looking they were presented.

The ambiance of this cafe is very eclectric. The mural-painted wall add an accent to the whole interior design. It's very much millenial. Every details of the cafe are so instagram-worthy! Kudos to the whole team of The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery for the amazing and superb food! I can't wait to come back and invite over my family and friends.

Thanks you Roegan T for the spontaneous invite and nice to finally meet you Jessica G and Gwen I.🤩

Attended a |ooloo rendezvoos at The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery in UP Town Center last night, and it feels so good to be back! 128512

The hosts generously served us these dishes that made us so full last night. Food coma alert‼️

~ SONOMA SALAD (265)1108811088110881108811088
Grapre, arugula, lola rosa, lollo roso, spinach, feta cheese, pecan, special sonoma dressing. I loved this one, it's so light and really appetising.
~SALTED EGG CHICKEN SKIN (235) 1108811088110881108811088
Most of my fellow loolooers told that it has less salted egg flavor. But for me it has the right flavour, saltiness and crispness. I liked it more when you dip it on the vinegar.
~ Grilled Cheese w/ Tomato Cream Soup(285)11088110881108811088
Four cheese, brioche bun, tomato soup, Italian tomatoes, pesto, fried basil. I was curious when one of the hosts told us that when you deep the bread on the soup, it will taste like pizza and when I tied it.. IT IS! 128512
~ SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP (265) 110881108811088
Spinach artichoke, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic, and baguette slices.

For the MAINS
~HOTATE SOY CREAM PASTA (385) 1108811088110881108811088
Japanese soy cream, scallops, ebiko, bonito flakes, and nori shreds. I am a pasta person ang I really loved this one.
~MANGO RUM CHICKEN (360) 11088 11088 11088 11088 11088
Juicy grilled chicken marinated in a special mango rum sauce, served with mango salsa, sour cream and cilantro rice.
Ube waffles w/ buttermilk fried chicken, bacon infused maple syrup, salted egg sauce & pickled red onion. I love the waffles, it has the right ube flavor that I instantly loved! 128525
Beer nrine porkchop, creamy deli mustard sauce, homemade miso, and sweet potato puree. I just wish the meat was more tender, but it is good.
Kimchi, maple bacon slab, spring onion, nori shreds, topped with sunny side up egg.
Baked mac, four cheese, truffle oil, topped with crushed cheetos. It is really interesting that there's cheetos on top of a baked mac instead of the usual melted cheese. I just find the truffle oil too strong kaya medyo nakakaumay.

For the DRINKS
~ L.G.B.T. (135)
Lime. Ginger. Basil. Tea. That's what it stands for, this drink was so refreshing and really nice. I would recommend this!

🔹 I ordered everything that way to show what my top picks are.
🔹The place was really cozy, but limited to a number of diners only.
🔹The staffs are really nice.
🔹Value for money is very reasonable.
🔹Most of the dishes arw good for sharing!
🔹Food are soooo good!

Will come back here again if time and schedule permits as I would like to try their coffees.

It is always a fun night whenever there is a rendezvoos! Nice meeting all of you! Especially to Brenna, Brian and Bear(tama ba?) for being a generous hosts last night. Thanks to Jessica G for the invite also! 9786

THE FAT SEED CAFE + ROASTERY... What better tastes like ! Located at Phase 2 GF UP Town Center Katipunan Avenue Quezon City.

Last October 9 , I received an invite from the young and beautiful, Looloo Community Manager Ms. Jessica G that there will be a Looloo Rendezvoos at the Fat Seed on October 15 at 7pm sharp. I said yes even if I have already tried Fat Seed. I was excited to see our Community Manager and same time tried again Fat Seed as I have gave them 5 starts last time 1108811088110881108811088️.

We started with refreshing drinks . They served two drinks last night . The LGBT which stands for Lime Ginger Basil 127807 Tea for 135 pesos and the TFS for 105 pesos only . Among the two , I chose the LGBT. It’s very refreshing for me and same time I liked the cup 128077

Then one by one , Fat Seed dishes were served on our table .

🥗 Sonoma Salad- grapes 127815, arugula,Lola Rosa , Lollo Rosso, spinach , feta cheese 🧀, pecans ,Specail sonoma dressing for 265 pesos . If your vegetarian or not I’m surely you’ll loved this one . I’m w salad fan so I liked it and serving was good for sharing 128521128077

🧀127838 Grilled cheese with tomato 127813 cream soup - (285 pesos ) four cheese, buttered brioche bun, tomato soap,Italian tomatoes , pesto , fried basil 127807. This is my top 1 choice last night . I’m a cheesy person and so loved it!

🍽 Truffle MAC N’ Cheetos (295 pesos ) baked macaroni , four cheese , truffle oil , crushed Cheetos crumble . I’m a fan of Cheetos so I was excited to try this , honestly i can see the Cheetos on top but can’t tasted it . But still it’s a Pop for me because I loved Mac and Cheese and it’s delicious so whether there’s Cheetos or not I liked it.

128020 Salted Egg Chicken Skin - (235 pesos ) I’m a chicken skin addict so when they served it last night I was so excited . So crispy and so good of course . Perfect appetizer for me 128077

127819 Mango Rum Chicken 127831 with Cilantro Rice 127834(330 pesos ). I loved any dish that has cilantro 128077

🍽 Spinach artichoke dip ( 265 pesos ) Soinach artichoke , mozzarella , Parmesan , garlic , baguette , since my favorite cartoon character when I was a kid is Popeye so I like spinach too, it gives me energy , taste good 128077

127831 Buttermilk fried chicken with Ube waffle in salted egg sauce (325 pesos ) - I liked the idea that they made the waffle into ube flavor instead of ordinary one and the salted and egg sauce is good and the bacon infused maple syrup . It has a twist compare to other waffle and chicken I’ve tasted .

🥓 Kimchi fried rice with Maple Bacon slab (315 pesos ) Kimchi , maple bacon slab ,spring onions , nori shreds topped with sunny side egg 🥚 . This is another favorite dish of mine last night . I’m not into kimchi before but now I do , I liked it 128077

127837 Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (385 pesos ) this is Fat Seed best selling dish also . Japanese Soy Cream , scallops ,ebiko, bonito flakes ,nori shreds .

All in all their food was so good , very satisfying meals . It’s really hard to pick the good dish since all of them are unique . Carefully and specially prepared for their customers .

Thanks to last night’s rendezvoos, I discovered another café worth hanging out! Enter The Fat Seed Café + Roastery. They offer specialty coffee and comfort food dishes with a familiar twist. The place looks fabulously modern with an eye catching street graffiti on the concrete wall and a heavy take on wood. I loved that their menu is extensive and each dish manages to be consistent on the overall theme of the café.

We got to try a number of their popular dishes and I’m glad all of them was able to deliver. My favorites would have to be the huge and tasty Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325) and Kimchi Fried Rice with Maple Bacon Slab (P315) which was nothing but delish.

I will also recommend the Truffle Mac n’ Cheetos (295). They didn’t scrimp on truffle and the mac cheese was savory but a tad heavy so I suggest sharing the pasta dish with someone. I also liked the grilled cheese with tomato cream soup ((P295). A couple of fellow |oo|ooers enjoyed their Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (385). Aside from being cooked to perfection, one would enjoy the play of flavors brought by soy cream, scallops, ebiko, bonito flakes and nori shreds.

There are a few dishes that was good but with a little push they can be better that what they are now. The Spinach Artichoke Dip (265) needed to be more creamy IMO and while I enjoyed the Salted Egg Chicken Skin (P235), I barely tasted the salted egg flavor.

Our group was also able to try their Sonoma Salad (P265) which was heavy on balsamic vinegar, TFS Signature Porkchop (P395) and Mango Rum Chicken with Cilantro (P330).

I can definitely see myself coming back as a paying customer with the hopes of trying their coffee and desserts.

Manila nights are often busy with countless hours spent on the road because of traffic.

To those who don't know me, a family member passed away a couple of weeks back so please allow me to dedicate this to my Lola (Grandma). Hi Lola - thinking of you as I write this review. Sorry, could not say anything on the night of your eulogy so if I may share this review in such a a manner as if I am writing an e-mail addressed to you.

16 Oct 2018
Tuesday, 7:00-9:30PM

Tonight has been rather special as I finally had my breath of fresh air as I joined another Looloo Rendezvoos. Our hosts for the night, Brenna, Brian & Pierre welcomed us with a round of house blended tea for drinks. Our group had a marvelous dinner, together with about 9-10 folks, of which 3 are from Looloo namely: Roegan, Jessica and Gwen. Thank you guys and happy I had the chance to meet Jessica and Gwen (finally!).

I have to say The Fat Seed (TFS) is the perfect place for coffeeholics as I enjoyed our visit, not to mention it's my first time here. Food and drinks offered have been priced reasonably and for a budget of P1000 for 2 pax, you will definitely get your money's worth. Food served were overall flavorful, each having its unique taste and appeal to most Filipinos. I generally like spicy and the herbs and spices they used are my favorite (such as kimchi and cilantro). I look forward to more innovative dishes from them so will keep an eye out. Interiors are filled with arsty everything, from murals, coffee machine, etc. Big plus since they have their own toilet. Management and staff are approachable and accommodating and for sure I will be back soon just to say hi and have a cup of coffee. It is convenient for me as I live less than 5 KM from this cafe.

The following have been served:
LGBT -> Lemon, Ginger, Basil Tea (P135)
TFS Iced Tea (P105)
Specialty Coffee (Forgot to ask which beans are used!)

Spinach Artichoke Dip (P265)
Sonoma Salad (P265)
Grilled Cheese with Tomato Cream Soup (P295)

Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (P385)
Truffle Mac n’ Cheetos (P295)
TFS Signature PorkChop (P395)
Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325)
Kimchi Fried Rice with a Slab of Maple Bacon (P315)

Salted Egg Chicken Skin (P235)
Mango Rum Chicken with Cilantro Rice (P330)

Highly recommending:
Mango Rum Chicken with Cilantro Rice (P330)
Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325)
Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (P385)
Sonoma Salad (P265)

With only a little over eight months of operations, (they started brewing Febuary of 2018), I am impressed with how invested management is when it comes to research and introducing new dishes to the market. I find it reasonable for restaurants to upgrade and modify their offerings periodically, so wishing more power to TFS and hope to see more of them all over Metro Manila in the long run.

P.S. Must try their latte on my next visit!

One of my childhood best friends, E, visited us a few weeks ago during her summer break from her masters in Taiwan, and of course, we opted to meet for a quick catch up.

We decided to go to UP Town Center, since this place has pretty much every cuisine you can think of! 128149 I was pondering on where to eat, but E and A asked me which restaurants I've tried already, since they prefer the tried and tested ones. 128517 One restaurant came to mind... Fat Seed! 128523 During my first visit, I wanted to try so many dishes, but my tummy can only take so much. Fat Seed is actually one of the restaurants I'd be willing to visit again and again so I can try their other dishes! 128525 Here's what we ordered:

✅ For E: THE FAT SEED BENEDICT WITH HOMEMADE MAPLE BACON SLAB (Php 295) - 1108811088110881108811088
For egg lovers, this one is a sure hit! 128150 The poached egg carefully placed atop their juicy and moutheatering maple bacon slab and brioche bun is just too good for words! It also comes with a light side salad to complement your meal.

✅ For A: WAGYU PARES (Php 305) - 1108811088110881108811088
If you want a comforting meal, then this is for you! Melt-in-your-mouth wagyu cubes in tasty sauce, beef broth that hugs you from the inside, and garlicky fried rice that's sure to fill you up! They serve it in these metal containers that remind me of where my mom puts my baon when I was in elementary and high school. 🤗 How nostalgic!

✅ For Me: THE FAT SEED SIGNATURE PORKCHOP (Php 395) - 110881108811088110881108811088
Honestly, this is one of the prettiest dishes I've ever had! In fact, it was so pretty, I actually became hesitant to dig in! 128513 This intricately plated dish was so good, I was smiling from ear to ear after just one bite. 🤤 The thick cut beer brined porkchop was juicy and flavorful, and the mustard sauce and miso enhanced its flavor even more. Pair it with the mild tasting sweet potato puree, and you'll surely devour the entire plate's content in no time! 128521 (Thanks to Bella J 's reviews -- the reason why I decided to get this!!!)

As usual, service is top-notch! My friends also loved the ambiance as much as I did during my first visit. 128150 Indeed, The Fat Seed is the perfect place to eat and chill. Their menu items are carefully crafted to ensure that your hearts and tummies will be full and happy after each visit.

My love for Fat Seed is well-documented here on |ooloo and to be honest, this place is my favorite restaurant in the whole of UP Town. I don't hesitate to recommend this to others because it's just so good and I never left the place disappointed128076🏻128076🏻128076🏻128076🏻128076🏻

During two recent visits, I decided not to go with my usual Fat Seed Signature Porkchop and chose these instead:

| MANGO RUM CHICKEN (Php 360) - This is one of the latest additions to the menu. Saw it on Facebook and knew immediately that I had to try it asap, which I did... the very next day 128518 This dish has grilled chicken marinated in a mango rum sauce and served with a mango salsa and sour cream. I had mine with cilantro rice, but you can also opt for tortilla wraps instead (it'll be cheaper too since it costs Php 330 if you go for the tortillas).

IT'S SO GOOD!!! While the Signature Porkchop will always be my favorite, this dish comes in second place without a doubt. It's just so flavorful!!! I love the mango salsa in particular since it's refreshing and cleans the palate.

| TARTUFO PASTA (Php 310) - This one has porcini, prosciutto, truffle cream sauce, and Parmesan cheese. I wanted something on the salty, savory side the day I ordered this and it fit the bill perfectly! The pasta was cooked al dente and there was enough of the sauce to coat the noodles. Yummy!

| BELGIAN HOT CHOCOLATE (Php 140) - I usually order the Mango After Dark but I didn't on that day since it was cold and gloomy. I went for the hot chocolate instead and it hit the right notes. The consistency was just right and you can really taste the chocolate flavor. Really good!

Surprisingly, I've yet to try the chicken with ube waffles 128517 I swear I'll try it sometime!

Coffee, milkshakes , mocktails , juices , salads , soups, Benedicts, ,brunch , burgers, fried chix, grilled cheese , pasta . The Fat Seed is Fat and that’s why!

Checked out this newly opened cafe at UP Town Center 4 days ago while waiting for our son Josh who watched a play in school . The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery is a great place for everyone . You will surely loved its artistic ambience. It’s a place you can go to chill for a moment . I was so amazed 128525 of the murals because it is carefully hand painted 🖐on the walls . This is quite a quiet workplace in the morning and can even a coffee date place at night .

Chili garlic bacon pasta. Al dente spaghetti noodles tossed in olive oil, garlic, and chili, with cured bacon pieces and a perfectly poached egg. This dish was so good in its simple but complex flavors and also very worth its price, which isn’t that hefty considering the serving size (can be shared by two people but believe me you wouldn’t want to share this) and obviously high quality ingredients. Be sure to eat this while its still hot, though.

We also ordered their Sumatra Mandheling blend via V60. It was heavily bodied but smooth and not acidic at all.

The ambiance was lovely and the servers were very warm and attentive. There is wifi available and several tables with power outlets, making the place a nice and cozy workspace.

Can’t wait to go back here again and try their other offerings! Chicken and waffles, I’m coming for you next.

Dated my very talented sister to celebrate her success on “Sid & Aya: Not A Live Story”. (Shameless plug, my sister Len C is the Musical Director of this new Anne Curtis x Ding Dong Dantes x Direk Irene Villamor film! I’m so proud of her work! Please watch it in cinemas today!) 12857110084

We browsed on |ooloo in where to eat in UPTC and this came up. Thanks to the awesome reviews of Bella J and Jomarie A and also Peanut D, I was convinced to try and my sister excitedly agreed. I absolutely loved it in this place! 128568

The place was super pretty and the staff were very accommodating. We were introduced to their bestsellers and we went for two of their top recommendations. It took us a while to choose because everything looks and sounds amazing and worth a try. Their all day breakfast food looks fantastic and super appetizing while some of their mains are served in super quirky and IG worthy ways. I practically couldn’t pick! Wah! 128569

Finally my sister went for The Fat Seed Burger (PHP 395) which was super delicious! The patty was thick and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The black brioche bun gave it some flair and it was nicely toasted but still soft and chewy. This burger was something else! 128571

I went with their Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (PHP 385) and I absolutely loved it! I couldn’t really describe it, just that it was so gooood! It was creamy and savory and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The scallops gave it texture and a nice fish taste. The fish roe was truly the cherry on top. The serving size was quite big but I nearly licked my plate clean. It was that tasty! 128571

Price-wise, everything really felt great value for money. I can’t complain because the food quality and their service is definitely at par with their tab. I really loved it here! 10084

I’ll come back for their breakfast food, and that Wagyu Pares is definitely next on my list! I can’t wait to be back! 128568

I felt like having a nice drink after dinner so I dropped by The Fat Seed again. Honestly, this might actually be my favorite cafe in UP Town right now!

I always feel so cozy whenever I go here thanks to the cafe's lovely atmosphere. The industrial accents, the rustic wooden tables, the warm lighting, and the colorful murals on the wall all make the place look so inviting.

Since I was already full, I just got the 127800 LGBT (lime ginger basil tea). I feel like I made the right choice because after stuffing myself with food, this cold, and refreshing drink made me feel a lot lighter. It has a very fresh, herb-like taste thanks to the basil. They also serve it in a pretty copper-plated mug!

I still ended up wanting coffee afterwards (of course 128517), so O also ordered the 127800 Ampucao Local V60 Specialty Coffee. I loved the smooth, dark taste of this blend. It's not as bitter as their Americano when taken black. 9749

I'm pretty sure I'll drop by again this week. It's 5 minutes away from UP and the atmosphere is perfect for reading & relaxing. I also really want to try more of their food next time because of Bella J's posts! 128516

Dragged my sister here because of Bella J and Jomarie A’s reviews! #inflooencers

Can I just say - this place is SO pretty! From the interior down to their menu, everything was so well thought out. It must have been quite pricey to build this spot! (It connects to a retail store but I’m not sure if they also own that spot)

If you’re looking for an Instagram worthy spot, you definitely cannot miss this.

Social media-friendliness aside, the food was on the okay side for me. BUT, this may be because I didn’t order any of their bestsellers and instead ordered a Caesar Salad and a Potato Salad. (I know I know. But I’ve been eating so much that day and I wanted to reserve space for dessert!)

The potato salad was good and tasted like my mom’s, the salad meanwhile, featured about three (3) lettuce leaves... which I guess if you’re on a diet answers your needs...

Nevertheless, I’ll be back to try their actual main dishes! And also try their coffee!

A couple of weeks ago, I received a recommendation from Bella J for a cafe in UP Town Center. One look on the items they serve -- and I'm sure Josh and I would enjoy it here. 128076 A couple of days after that, I saw one of my high school batchmates post this on his page, and I took it as a sign that we have to visit this place as soon as we can. 128522

We finally visited The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery two weeks ago, since we had to visit UP Town Center to watch The Shape of Water. 128522 When we arrived, we were in awe at how nice the place is. 128525 We quickly sat down and browsed through their magazine type menu (plus points for this super cute menu too!), and got the following for our lunch:

✅ FOR SHARING: MUSHROOM FRITTERS (Php 175) - 1108811088110881108811088
Okay. So we both LOVED this! As in we can't stop munching on them. It's actually a seemingly healthier alternative to your usual sinful chicharon. It's still fried, but at least it's lesser evil. 128586 We loved how they were crunchy, but has a distinct chewiness when you get to the middle, and you can still taste and feel the mushroom in it. 128525 So so so good! I hope they can come up with another dip though. Ketchup is good, but it lacked oomph.

I was choosing between this and the Quinoa Bowl, but thought I'd splurge that day. 128513 I made a good choice, because the chicken thigh fillet was big and juicy, and the waffles were fluffy. The salted egg sauce was a bit sweet for my liking, though. Something I realized as I popped the last bite of chicken and waffles in my mouth -- it's truly as sinful and scrumptious as it looks. 128586128584 No regrets, though! 128525

✅ FOR JOSH: THE FAT SEED BENEDICT WITH HOMEMADE MAPLE BACON SLAB (Php 295) - 110881108811088110881/2 (4.511088)
I was able to try a bite, but I wasn't able to fully savor the flavors, which was why I asked for a review from him. Here's what he had to say: "It was absolute heaven for me. The eggs were cooked perfectly, with the runny yolk that coats everything in rich, creamy sauce. The bacon slabs were thick and juicy, while the salad and salad dressing add that needed crunch and tanginess to the ensemble 128076. My only gripe is how it lacks in the salty department. The eggs were not seasoned enough and the bacon was cooked with maple syrup so it was more sweet than salty. A touch saltiness would've made the dish perfect. 128523"

✅ FOR JOSH: COLOMBIA SINGLE ORIGIN V60 SPECIALTY COFFEE (Php 150) - 1108811088110881108811088
Josh was giddy to try the coffee here. 128525 He loved it! According to him, the aroma was very enticing and the flavor had a chocolate taste with fruity undertones. 128523 As for me, I just took a sniff and I already felt that it was too strong for my liking. 128518

Service is great and memorable. All the staff were trained well, and you can feel that their willingness to serve is genuine. 128077 They are attentive at all times, too. 128525 The ambiance was very homey but a bit hipster. 128518 The interiors were as instagrammable as their scrumptious food!

The Fat Seed is definitely the place to be when you love coffee, a chill ambiance, and picture worthy food. 128522 I hope there will be more noise about this restaurant, because they deserve it. 128525 I heard they recently lauched their full menu already, so I'd definitely come by to check it out again soon!

I've been here thrice since it opened its doors last February 13 and I can happily say that it's my favorite restaurant in UP Town and Katipunan 10084 I just really enjoy the ambiance. Perfect for working or studying. It's easy to zone out and focus on your work and the super yummy food. Plus, there's wifi. There are sockets. Jackpot!

During my first visit, The Fat Seed was still on soft opening but during my two other visits. I was super excited because the full menu was available! I'm seriously on a quest to eat every item on the magazine-type menu that The Fat Seed has (someone come with me!). HAHAHA. Here's what I ordered during my two most recent visits:

| TARTUFO PASTA (Php 310) - This one has truffle cream sauce, porcini, prosciutto, and Parmesan cheese. Really enjoyed this one! Pasta was al dente and there was just enough sauce to coat the noodles. I usually find tartufo pastas cloying after sometime but not this one!

| MANGO AFTER DARK (Php 125) - I think this will be my go-to drink here. Super refreshing!

| BRAZILIAN LIMEADE (Php 135) - When I asked what this was, I was told it's basically limeade and condensed milk. I was hesitant at first but when I tried it, it was good! Just the right sour kick 128076🏻

| THE FAT SEED SIGNATURE PORKCHOP (Php 395) - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IT'S SO, SO, SO GOOD I NEARLY DID A HAPPY DANCE WHEN I HAD MY FIRST BITE (kaso nahiya ako hahaha). Man, I can eat this over and over again. The beer brined porkchop was huge and was tender and cooked evenly. Slather on some of the sweet potato purée and homemade miso it's served with and you're all set! I actually can eat the miso and sweet potato purée together on their own. Super good! Wish there were more tomatoes on the plate, though. They really do cut through all the rich flavors.

Ah, writing about it's making me crave for it and I just ate it yesterday 128557

If and when I can resist the porkchop, I'll probably try the Wagyu Pares, Hotate Soy Cream Pasta, or one of the Eggs Benedict on the menu (There's one with a slab of maple bacon, one that has corned beef hash, and another that has smoked salmon).

When you visit The Fat Seed, be ready with your cameras because everything's just so Instagrammable! Even the food!

The owners are also around every day (I eventually discovered that one of them attended the same HS as I did) so don't be shy and chat with them! Super accommodating, will answer your questions, and make sure you're having a great experience 10084
