This is a must try when craving for vietnamese cuisine. We love their fresh spring rolls and seafood noodle soup. Good thing they already have a branch in Sta. Rosa. No need to go all the way to Tagaytay for vietnamese fix. Love the ambiance in this place as well.

A few months ago, R and I decided to go to Tagaytay for a short weekend getaway. I was looking forward to do the Chicken All-You-Can of Max’s but on our way to Tagaytay, I felt car sick. So instead of munching on some fried goodies, R and I opted to visit House of Bawai. I have never been to House of Bawai but I heard that it’s better than Banoi’s, a Vietnamese restaurant I like.

Hello, House of Bawai.

The place was packed when we got there so we had to wait for a few minutes. I was actually worried since it was already 9PM then so I thought that they will just shoo us away. But I was signaled that they will just clear and we’ll be set for a warm and filling dinner.

We quickly chose Bahn Xeo (PHP280), Pho Bo(PHP365) and Banh Da Lon (PHP55). And while waiting, we tried to make the set up romantic by asking for more candles and the server obliged to our request for more candle table ornaments.

Soon, our appetizer arrived.

The crispy savory crepe was a great start. Drizzling the mushrooms, sprouts prawns and pork filled crepe with the sweet sauce made it even more delightful!

The Pho Bo was served next and R felt that it was a sad bowl of pho with its few beef strips.

I like it though as the soup stock was quite flavorful. I love putting sprouts and leaves to make it even more refreshing. By the time around 1/3 was left, R found more beef strips which made him feel better with the initially not-so-value-for-money pho.

The pandan with yellow mung bean dessert was pretty good too. I loved the generous serving of coconut milk. For PHP55, this dessert isn’t bad at all.

I’ll definitely visit the White Plains branch soon.

I had a pleasure of dining in their Katipunan branch way back 2013. Two years have passed but the flavors of their dishes still lingers. Luckily, the third branch opened in Nuvali. I asked one of my officemates to have our lunch here last Thursday and I took the liberty of ordering our food.

We started with Bawai Salad. This salad had coconut sprouts, carrots, glazed pork, steamed shrimp and crushed peanuts. All blended well with the transparent dressing. There's a distinct taste from the added herbs that I really liked.

The Goi Cuon was also superb. Fresh garden rolls with pork strips, steamed shrimp and rice vermicelli. It tasted fresh and the sweetness of the peanut butter sauce was just right.

Pho Ga is a traditional vietnamese soup with chicken strips. The herbs used is the same with their bawai salad. Served hot, the taste is not complicated but not the usual.

For the carnivores, I highly recommend Com Suon Cha. It's the Vietnamese version of our grilled liempo. The pork belly was double grilled so expect the meat to be succulent and tender. It was marinated well and it comes with mushroom egg pie. The dish is served with vinegar flavored with herbs and probably sugar. It works really well with the dish.

The place is clean and the colors are focused on black and white. A bit intimidating from the outside if I may say. Everything is 5 stars except for the price. It's a bit expensive for a Vietnamese restaurant but it will definitely deliver the clean and subtle taste that you are looking for.

I heard the first branch in Tagaytay is cheaper so I suggest you to go there instead. Tho it wouldn't hurt if you'll still opt to visit this branch.

Servings are quite small and service was quite slow but accommodating. Prices are a bit high but the food tastes good.

Overall it was an Ok for me. Not really a fan of vietnamese food I guess but the pork belly wasn't bad at all.

P300+++ for my meal

The food was good. I just wished that they offer more selection. But I love the Pho Bo!!!! Definitely a must try. Also, please maintain the cleanliness of the store.
